We hardly ever get to Wahiawa to walk around and this was one of those Saturdays where we wanted to explore, My friend is sooo into vintage Aloha Shirts and they had a good selection at decent prices. He ended up purchasing two at $20 each, both were in great condition and not the "run of the mill" stuff. We did have a great chat wtih the very personable owner who gave us a tour of the building which was purchased by their non-profit. We were very impressed with the apartments behind the store front where many of the volunteers are housed along with their facilities for homeless. They had restrooms and showers that the homeless could use (they were timed entry) along with a pantry where food was distributed. They also had classrooms including an art and dance room to get troubled younger people interested and out of the streets. It's great to know you are helping a good cause when you are shopping!

Eclectic, clean, vintage and Cute! They had the clothes neatly displayed and had womens, childrens and a men's section. They have household, items, bags, jewelry and accessories. The better quality items were higher priced but less than retail. There are clearance baskets for $3/ea. And some really neat finds. If you're ever in the area check them out. Oh and the clothes they have are donated and people who donate receive credit vouchers to purchase items from the store. Go Green!

Upon walking in, we loved how airy and bright the store felt, and it smelled wonderful, too! To the right, we saw rows of jugs of soaps, detergents, and cleaners, along with a variety of reusable, eco-friendly products! Whether you're looking for reusable straws, sandwich bags, utensils, or wipes, you're in the right place! One thing that made me so nervous about the refill stations was that I didn't know how to bring a jug and refill- sounds silly, right? Well, you can bring a jar/jug/canister, whatever you want (or if you forget yours, you can always purchase one, or get a free one in their "free canisters" box). You next pick up a little token and place your container on the scale. Once the scale picks up the weight, tap the token on the area where it says "tap here," and that's it! Then just fill it with whatever you need, however much you need, bring the token to the front, and check out! All in all, we'll be back again to get more soaps when we're out!

The owner is nice, friendly, and knowledgeable. There is a lot of variety, and back in the day is a perfect name. I was amazed at all the memories that came back will looking around. This location is rich with history, and it's befitting that this little antique shop is sitting in the middle of an area that goes back in time. I am old enough to remember the Waialua Sugar Mill burning cane back in the 90's as I drove to Mokuleia Beach and seeing black debris of flying burnt sugar cane drift across my car windshield, along with smoke. The mill closed down in 1996 then became abandoned over time, then opened back up with new shops and little local stores, like this one. It's a very tiny store, no bigger than a small studio, but has a variety of really nice antiques crammed with vintage Pyrex, glassware, clothing, Pan-Am bags, hat boxes, costume jewelry, and anything else you care to explore. The owner Etsuko is super friendly and we spent a while discussing vintage clothing, barware, jewelry and the finer things that were important in life in the days when things were meant to last and not fall apart after a season of use. Not quite sure why it's called Malibu Shirts as is located in Haleiwa Store Lots right up North Shore and is filled with all things Hawai'i from the Elvis Blue Hawaii and Pan Am days to some more familiar places like Rainbow Drive Inn and doesn't stop with the incredible choices of shirts but mugs, totes and many other fun accessories as well. Walking in I did love the vibe of the shop as the decor includes lining the shop with grass hut look and surfboards hanging up the industrial ceiling but this cute and organized shop was fun to browse around the various designs to remember what was and made Hawai'i what it currently is now. One room had clothing, wraps, and tote bags, while another room featured soaps and lotions. We found stickers, patches, and coasters in the main room. My friend got a magnet for her refrigerator! I thought about getting matching jewelry for us gals. I also considered the Beer Soap... intriguing... The books - on Duke Kahanamoku and "Eddie Would Go" - were tempting... maybe next time... when my friends' luggage aren't stuffed... Service was friendly and helpful. We found free parking on the side road. My friends really appreciated the benches outside where they could sit for a while. I liked the air conditioning inside! Check out the vintage cash register and shave ice machine. I think Steve Aoki's grandmother used these in 1931 when she had a stand at the Haleiwa Theater!

Yep, it's all here! And plenty of room to walk around without feeling claustrophobic as is the case in some of the stores with a smaller footprint. Plus some really nice casual clothing. For women there are maxi dresses, shirts, tshirts, sweatshirts. I particularly liked the new towel ponchos that they carry, as do most other shops these days. Super convenient when walking to and from the beach. Also lots of beach bags, backpacks and totes. Walls full of Havaianas and Teva water shoes. They are well stocked! I shop there regularly, and even if I don't need anything, I always pop in when I'm in the area because there's usually something new. The girls there are always so friendly -- and it's consistent. Every single time. The store is impeccably clean, easy to shop, and their clothing fits my vibe 100%. I always leave feeling good about what I bought (or at least inspired). Such a great local shop in the Matsumoto's shopping center. If you appreciate well-made pieces, good energy, and supporting North Shore businesses, Mahina is a must. A mind blowing 40K sf shop in a former military bunker, not only did it show me a piece of Hawaiian history I didn't know about but the inventory is mind boggling .
