First time at this location. Inside was a little small with no room if you want to eat there. The staff was a little off putting since you could tell they did not want to be there. No smile, no have a good day, no thanks for your business. Just wait there and here's your food. To top it off my order was wrong when I got back to work to eat. I ordered the lunch special with thighs and drums and I got 2 wings and 6 shrimp. For the price of $8 it wasn't very filling as well, since there is not much meat on a chicken wing and small shrimp. This happens to be the only Nu Wave Fish & Chicken that I have been to. I love their fried chicken and fries! It has sort of a lemon taste to it but it still taste like homemade original fried chicken. I always order it for parties or family gatherings I have at my house. Their service is quick and you can make call in orders. I only live about 6-8 miles away, usually I call in my order and by time I arrive they have my order ready. Their location is not in the best neighborhood, but do to their speedy service it's nothing to worry about. I just received my first order from here via DoorDash and I think I'm glad I did NOT look it up on Yelp first because this was THE BEST chicken and fried okra I have had in a very long time! It's too bad so many people only review when they want to complain because this unfairly skews ratings in the wrong direction sometimes. Of course I cannot speak for the staff mentioned in two of the three existing reviews because I had mine delivered. But my chicken was hot, fresh, juicy and crispy on delivery! I opted for no lemon pepper seasoning. I thought the seasoning and amount of breading was perfect. And that okra! Also hot and crispy, the okra itself tasted very fresh and tasted like OKRA not just some fried something that might be okra as I have had so many times elsewhere. I usually put hot sauce on mine but this tasted so good I ate most of it without because I wanted to taste it the way it came. NuWave Fish and Chicken on East 8 Mile & Hayes WAS my favorite place to get food, however the last few times I've purchased from the East 8 Mile and Hayes location in Detroit the food has been subpar. On Sunday December 9, 2018, I placed a large order for chicken for a birthday party. The chicken was overcooked, hard and extremely dry. Our guests were leaving the chicken on their plates. $$$ lost! On Saturday December 22, 2018 we were stung again! This time we ordered chicken, fish and shrimp. The fish was fried so hard it was like eating chips and also we ordered tilapia and ocean perch and got catfish, the french fries were tough, the shrimp were scattered everywhere we had to search for them throughout the fries and one of the orders was missing the chicken.
