I recently had a very frustrating experience at the NTB location at 3261 Automobile Boulevard, Silver Spring, MD that I feel compelled to share. We had our car towed to this location for a scheduled appointment to purchase four new tires. The tow truck driver left our key directly with the service manager, David. After waiting four hours, we called and spoke to David -- only to be told he had no idea where our key was and claimed he never received it. We had no choice but to drive to the location ourselves to find out what happened. When we arrived, another manager named Jared was there. Within minutes, Jared found the key right where it should have been -- in the envelope with our car's paperwork. Jared was professional, apologized sincerely, and offered compensation for our trouble. David, on the other hand, never once apologized and offered only $50 for the time, stress, and inconvenience his negligence caused us. The fact that our key was sitting in our file the entire time -- while David told us he had no idea where it was -- is simply unacceptable. Jared deserves recognition for how he handled the situation. David's conduct, however, fell far below any reasonable standard of customer service. I hope management takes this seriously and addresses it accordingly. David should not be in management. David should be fired. read more

Long wait on a slow day! Service guy in there watching movies on his phone,eating McDonald's and vaping every 5 minutes. Cars are just in there with hoods open and no one working them. I was given a 45 minute wait for an oil change. We are an hour in and my car is not even inside. I ended up asking for my keys back and went next door to jiffy lube. read more

I really wanted to like this place--we had an emergency with our car battery while out running errands and took it to this location. They didn't have the battery in stock but said they could have it delivered in an hour and gave me the option to wait or to go get a battery at the store across the street. Went to get a battery there but they couldn't help me as the battery was tucked under the dash and didn't know the size and couldn't get to it without tools. Went back to this place and agreed for them to order a battery and wait. The price for the battery plus install seemed really reasonable. Went to the shopping plaza across the street and got lunch while we waited. Only to get called 1+ hours later to be told that they couldn't install the battery because they DON'T HAVE THE RIGHT TOOLS. I reeeeeeally wish that had been thought through from the start. Customer service/technician was nice and jumped the car again to get us going but literally wasted half my day getting there, figuring out what was going on, and getting home all of the way back to DC with no fix. read more

They wanted me to go to another business to get my batteries tested, and come back to them if I need new batteries. I got a flat, and brought my car into this NTB for a new tire. Called and was told it would be an hour or so to get it done. When I got there, that jumped to four hours. When I got my car, the gentleman checking it out seemed more interested in a personal call and an attempt to sell a car than in helping me. He was yelling across the lobby at the other guy, across me, and over me. "You need an alignment check -- how much you gonna give me for the car, man?" Incredibly rude. These stupid ass individuals put the wrong size tire in my car! I called several times regarding why my TPMS was notifying me of a problem. Was told to calibrate the car multiple times in different ways. Now Honda systems are calibrated one way and its through the settings , but even the manager was telling me that the car needed to be calibrated 3 times in order for the TPMS system to turn off! Boy was that motherfucker WRONG!! Was told that Honda had to fix the sensors because it wasnt the tire! Was giving the run around for two full days! Took my honda to sport honda and immediately they noticed that the tire NTB (A FUCKING TIRE STORE) PUT on THE WRONG TIRE SIZE! Which was causing the car TPMS to alert me! How do you not know what the correct size tire to put on when the tire size are on four tires and inside the drivers door! Hell the tire size is on the fucking tire they had to replace! Simple flat tire. Had to order a replacement for arrival next business day - all good so far. But never call when it arrived. When I called, they could no longer find the tire and had to reorder. Did not call me when the reordered tire was in. So I had to call again. Finally got it mounted and when home discovered they mounted the wrong size tire - who does that? I called about purchasing a set of new tires for my Ford Escape. After some back and forth including my asking, okay, is this the final price, I settled on the right tires with a quote of $430.88. Great price I thought, but he had dropped the price several times and mentioned a sale so I assumed it was legitimate. I made a 2 PM appointment. At this point the problems began: 1. I was supposed to get an email confirmation with my appointment and quote. That never happened. Checked my spam, and it's not there. 2. I went for my appointment anyway. No one was working in the main office. I walked around and there was a guy in a closed off room on his phone (could see through a window). I figured he was on his break so I'd just wait. Well, that wait kept going, and finally when there were two more customers behind me I want and knocked. Dude was still staring at his phone totally unaware of anything. Came out, was very terse and started to help. Not rude, but certainly not welcoming either. 3. The guy gets going, checks my car, checks my appointment says I have the wrong tire in my quote and I show him that no, this is what is recommended (door jamb). He agrees and we go back in and he mentions that there is an additional fee for the alignment and other work that I don't have to do today but that I'm going to have to do at some point. Total is not the $430 they brought me in with but actually $550. Maybe if only the price had been different, and not the combination of all the bad service I would've stayed, but I decided that was enough. Maybe the salesman pulled a bait and switch on me over the phone, maybe the guy in the office was annoyed I interrupted his phone time, but NTB does not deserve my business after that, and I'll never call them again. read more

Customer Service is a +++!!! I was frustrated with having a nail in my tire so Audi recommended me here (shhhh they are not supposed to) The guy behind the desk was great, great sense of humor and assured me they would take care of my issue. Price was ok considering I would have had to pay $300 for a tire so I'm happy. Waiting area is ok too, I didn't see any woman employees and it is after all a place to repair vehicles so it was ok. I didn't feel grossed out haha They have a huge window if you want to watch them fix your vehicle and comfortable seating. They even have cute games if you have your kids or are bored. TV also in the waiting area. I'm happy, customer service so good I'm gonna being my Ford F-150 here for new tires when they have another B2-G2 Again I had to get 2 new tires for the Audi. My husband obviously didn't like 'Felicia' because he keeps destroying her tires. I was treated great and customer service and prices were a 10! My warranty covered one tire yay lol read more

Took my car in for a battery test, expected to have to replace the 7-year-old battery. They said the battery was good and that I must have an electrical problem. Shuttled my car out to the dealership in Rockville and they confirmed bad battery. NTB turning away good business with bad work. They should take "Battery" out of their name. read more

There is definitely some communication issues at this particular NTB. Last week I scheduled an appointment for an oil change, tire rotation and brake fluid exchange through their website. I even called to confirm I am getting those services. I attempted to do an overnight drop but their box didn't have any paper in it and the envelopes were all sealed with nothing in them (red flag number one). I dropped the car off in the morning with my wife and they are making me write down all of my information (which included the services I needed). I go on my merry way. I call later afternoon to find out that they already called me (My phone shows no record of them calling me). The gentleman I spoke to said I needed new tires, an alignment, and new brakes/rotors for my rear brakes. He claimed that they inspect each car no matter what (this is important later). I'm like okay. I think about it and I go pick up my car the next morning (while doing research on tires). I see my wife's car in the parking lot and it does look like we do need new tires. I go in and whomever was there. Did not know anything about the recommendations for my wife's vehicle. " I was not in yesterday" in the tone of I don't care. Even though I was annoyed, I asked him about a particular set of tires and when they'll be in. During that interaction if I like he was not doing his job. Felt like I was being blown off. I get the information and I leave. My wife and I get home and she tells me the oil change light is still on. I look at the receipt (granted I should have done before I left. My bad) and they didn't do the oil change like I wanted. Now I'm not even sure my wife's vehicle needs brake work done. If they claim to inspect each vehicle, they would have known my wife needed an oil change. So I definitely feel like I was ripped off. I don't trust them and I will never go back. This location offers coffee and they have two vending machines. The only set back is the bathroom isn't the cleanest, so I'd recommend going before you get here, and though you make an appointment, I've waited for about 3 hours one time, so yea, be prepared to stay a while. The staff is really nice. Especially Kirk who works at the front desk. Overall okay place, but if you need something quick, I'd go to jiffy lube next door, they'll have you out in about 30 - 45 min read more

I was trying to give this place a 3.5. But overall I like the place it's convenient to where I live, and they seem to have fast service and fair prices. My best suggestion is to buy the parts you need for your car. But what I can say is that if you don't have an appointment please expect a little wait to be even consulate. I've always appreciated NTB for the services they provide but this location has surpassed it by the great customer service and professional demeanor. Upon setting up an appointment for oil change, one of the service manager, Mr. Bryan, returned my call to check on my time of arrival. I called back late to reschedule my appointment due to illness and he was very pleased to change it wishing me well. that's above and beyond in anyone's definition, as far as I believe. The only reason I gave rated 1 star is because 0 stars isn't an option! Had my oil changed at the Automobile Drive location in December. I started to notice oil spots in me driveway after the car had been sitting for a few days. Crawled under to check it out and found the oil filter access panel hanging down because it was missing 2 fastens. After removing the panel I found oil dripping down the sides of the filter as it wasn't tight. I guess the guy working on the car must have had some trouble tightening the filter and wrote a note on the bottom of the filter. See photo below. This shop is truly unprofessional! read more

Brain, the supervisor who assisted me was absolutely great and very professional during the entire process over the phone and in person. I came in for a specific tire and size that I made an appointment for online. I had made the appointment for a few days out. NTB alerted me that the tire wouldn't be in in time for said appointment and we rescheduled for an appointment that would best suit my tight schedule. On arrive, I showed them which tire it was and had specific requested to take lug nuts off and on by hand given they are aluminum lugs and would strip if impacted. They followed this request along with an few others, very pleased with that! Im a heavy machinery mechanic and am very particular about my cars, doin most work myself but when it comes to wheels and tires I can't. I'm always hesitant letting others work on them but NTB did as told and I'm happy with the work and service. Communication and politeness is key for my business and Brains professionalism in doing so has secured my business for future tire needs. I ordered a tire through Simple Tire & had the choice of "preferred locations" to have it shipped to & pay the installation fee. I chose this location of NTB as it is close to my home. I had an 8:00am appointment. I walked in the place at 7:50. The only customer service guy was in the lounge watching tv. He got up to help me & was able to locate my tire & order. He told me he only had one mechanic & one car ahead of me. It looked like the mechanic was working on one tire for another car. At 8:30 I asked about when my tire would be mounted & installed. Again the customer service guy told me about the car ahead of me & one mechanic - all the while he was watching tv. The mechanic a young guy I could see through the glass moved slower than an senior citizen with a walker! So I asked the customer service guy what are appointments for if you don't keep to them? He replied so people don't cut in front. Anyway at about 8:50 the mechanic starts working on my tire. All was done & I was out by 9:15. Almost 90 minutes to replace one tire & that's with a appointment!! I filled out a review with corporate & someone reached out to me within hours offering me coupons. I said I don't ever plan on returning to an NTB & asked for a refund of my $24.99 installation fee. She replied that they don't give refunds but could send me a corporate check to use at any of their stores. I acquiesced because I don't really know. To me their offer was pretty lame. Points given for reaching out right away, taken back for lame compensation for their lame location service & wasting my time. Horrible service! I made an appointment for an oil change and went in and was told that there were too many cars and could not honor the appointment and told me to come the next day. The next day I went in and was charged 75 dollars and then found a nail in the tire and charged me an additional 15 dollar to patch it. Second week of dismal customer service at NTB. As we have SIX licensed drivers in the family and they are less than a mile from our house, it is a damned shame that they suck so hard. Last week, my husband took in a battery to NTB that was still under warranty. After going round and round, the guy at the front REFUSED to honor the Waranty. We had to pay full price for the replacement but that was not the end of the story. After calling NTB corporate, they told him that he had to call the battery manufacturer to get an email of the prorated price to NTB. He did this but the battery company refused (noting it was NTBs job anyway). I encouraged my husband to call NTB back whereby he finally spoke with someone who honored the warranty. Bye, bye 1/2 day! Fast forward to today, where he had a blowout on a tire covered by road hazard coverage. He takes the tire in at 3 o'clock today and was told that he will have to pick it up around closing. He comes in at 6:30 just to be on the safe side. Upon entry, one guy is at the side counter on his phone and two other employees are on their phones sitting in the customer waiting areas. No one is in the back shop area. My husband can see through the window that the new tire has not been mounted yet. When he complains to the person at the front desk, this individual notes that he wasn't told that a tire was in for service. This is a ridiculous fabrication as he then saw the same person pick up the service ticket from the back area and ask one of the two employees in the front to fix the tire before closing!!! As my husband complained, YET AGAIN, about the lack of follow through and poor customer service the NTB rep told him "Then DONT come back!" AGAIN, a call to corporate where he got the same dummy who told him to call the battery company...GUESS WHAT??! He tells my husband to drive to another location (really, you can't make this stuff up) I will be writing a formal complaint as this level of incompetence is egregious. BTW-not the first time with the same type of bs but damn they are so close and I refuse to let them win. UPDATE-Scott the regional manager called a day after this review posted. I still plan to formally log my concerns but as a LONG-STANDING customer I hope they can turn this business around. read more

There was a some back and forth and then he tried to play me as if he was doing me a favor. I had to call corporate who told him to give me what was due. He tried to half ass me again and wouldn't do what the DM and Corporate told him to do. He kept interrupting our talk by asking random questions to other employees, answering his cell. It was a mess. 1) Chose four tires on the web site and made an online appointment. The appointment did not verify the tire choice, allowing me only to choose "tire repair" instead. 2) Called the next morning to verify the appointment and explain that I needed all four tires replaced. Was asked "You didn't make this appointment on the web, did you? If so, I can't help you." As I was not in a hurry, we walked through choosing tires (again) base on local stock, and made another appointment two days in the future. 3) Showed up 20 minutes early, and yet another person at NTB (no name, just not Andrew) did not have my information and walked through asking me a third time for tires, recommending a "house brand" that were more expensive than agreed in either 1) or 2). Walked out and went to another tire dealer nearby, who had the tires I wanted in stock and got me out inside 90 minutes. Bye, NTB. read more
