FInding a family doctor is hard, so when I moved downtown 10 years ago, I discovered that I couldn't find a family doctor, but I could be assigned to a Nurse Practitioner at WCH Family Practice. For those reluctant to opt for a Nurse Practitioner, I can tell you from my experience, it is better than a family doctor. Anything they can handle on their own is done quickly because you can see them sooner than the overbooked doctors, and when there is something they can't handle, it is referred to a doctor in the clinic or a specialist, so it is the best of both worlds. My Nurse practitioner retired last year and I ended up becoming a patient of one of the doctors in the clinic, and while she is a great doctor, WCH is a teaching hospital, so she is only in the clinic twice a week, so appointments are hard to get. However, WCH family practice offers urgent care appointments in the evenings, so if a doctor can't see you that day, you can see one in the evening, instead of going to a walk in clinic or emergency. The clinic is very accessible, something I appreciated after my knee surgery.

WARNING ALERT I'm…read morewriting this to warn others based on our real experience. My fiancée booked an IUD insertion at NP Health Clinic. From the very beginning, we clearly explained that she is from the U.S. and would be paying out of pocket. During the consultation, we were told this was completely fine -- and were explicitly assured that if they were unable to perform the insertion, we would not be charged and would be referred to another clinic at no cost. Because this was a sensitive and expensive procedure, we confirmed this three separate times: 1. During the initial consultation 2. When booking the appointment 3. Again over the phone Each time, we were reassured that we would not be charged if the insertion could not be completed. Despite this, we paid in full, arrived for the appointment, and were then told they did not have the necessary tools to perform the procedure. We were sent to another clinic, where we were required to pay again for the same service. When I called NP Health Clinic about this, the director (Sean) initially told me that even if the nurse admitted she had misinformed us, no refund would be given. Later, he called back and said that the nurse had admitted to providing incorrect information -- but then offered only half of the money back, and only if I signed an agreement stating that I would not share my experience online. He is very hostile. That condition alone was deeply concerning. (I am not getting any money, I rather the public know the truth) Additionally, the nurse's attempt at insertion was very aggressive and added unnecessary physical and emotional distress to an already upsetting situation. This entire experience felt misleading, poorly managed, and ethically questionable. Women seeking healthcare -- especially invasive and sensitive procedures -- deserve honesty, preparation, and accountability. I strongly recommend seeking care elsewhere. PS: Any response to this review should reflect the fact that my conversation with the director was recorded and included admissions consistent with this account.

I really had high hopes for this place, until I went in for my physical exam. Andrena had charged…read moreme an extra 20$ without communicating that to me, when I was supposed to pay 80$. When bringing that to their attention, no actual concrete reason was given to me on why the extra charge was made. Sean tried to excuse their behavior by saying that the fee for service is not the right choice for me. I found that very disrespectful as that was the reason I chose this clinic! Please avoid this place if you are looking for an ethical business! Glad I found another NP ASAP UPDATE: Saw the response and was shocked- during my virtual consults with Andrena she advised me of the pricing I should pay. 100$ upfront which I paid and 80$ when I do the physical. Nothing was disclosed to me of the overcharge due to "how long" the first consultation was. As a customer, I felt taken advantage of and in my opinion don't think it was a five star experience.
