My opinions are just as much rooted in the emotion attached to each bite. We live in Texas but spend lots of time in the Twin Cities. I'm a vegetarian, so I put off going to Diane's Place because it felt like the options for me were relatively limited. Boy, am I kicking myself for waiting! I told my wife after our first meal at Diane's Place this weekend that I compared the first bite (which happened to be the green scallion croissant) to my responses to certain music. As a musician and audiophile, hearing something moving or stirring can illicit a very visceral emotional response. I experienced a very similar response with that very first bite. My appreciation for the art of cuisine brought to perfection by Diane Moua literally caused my eyes to well up. This may sound like hyperbole, but it is not. The egg rolls were light and crispy and oddly nostalgic. The bamboo & cabbage swimming in coconut curry was my entree. On its own, it is perfectly balanced with the right amount of salt, acid, and umami. I tacked on some sticky rice and Hmong hot sauce...use with caution! It's potent but so delicious. Given Diane's background in pastry, don't skip dessert! We loved our experience so much on Sunday for dinner that we very quickly made a brunch reservation for Tuesday. Connor and Simon were extraordinarily helpful and knowledgeable about the menu.

It has that old-building charm with decorative ceiling moldings, a few larger communal tables, a window bar, and a handful of small bistro tables outside. They also have a great pastry selection, breakfast and lunch menus, coffee, grab-and-go drinks, plus beer and wine. We usually street park in this area and have never had much trouble finding a spot. You order at the counter when you walk in, and if you're eating there, they give you a number to bring to your table. We managed to snag the last outdoor table for two. I ordered the classic breakfast sandwich and my partner got an iced chai. The chai easily made our top three, and the sandwich was just the right size on a light, flaky croissant without feeling overly heavy. Such a nice spot for a simple breakfast or light lunch. Afterward, we took about a 15-minute walk through the neighborhood to the park along the river, which made for a perfect little morning. Definitely recommend, and we'll be back!

The staff were very nice and I really enjoyed chatting with them. They all seemed like they genuinely loved working there, which always makes the experience even better. It was pretty busy when we went on a Saturday morning around 10:00 am, so seating was a bit limited, but that's to be expected for a popular spot. Overall, the vibe was modern and fun, and I will definitely be back.

I paid $8 for half a sandwich and a cup of homemade soup (chicken and wild rice). The half sandwich was big! And their giant cookies are $2. You can also get a full sandwich, which comes with chips, for $10-12. The other food places in the mall, meals start at $15. I loved my egg salad sandwich, especially. It was stuffed and perfect for lunch. They have other homemade desserts too like puppy chow and brownies. I noticed homemade jams too. I got a lemon poppyseed cookie, which was delicious. The service here was awesome! I was unsure what to pick since they have so much and everything looks so appetizing. The girl cashiering was so helpful and kind! She explained what the dishes had for ingredients and gave me suggestions! They also have so many pretty cakes and sweets in unique flavors. The panini I ordered came with a side and were both so delicious, and were made pretty quickly too. Definitely give it a shot if you're in Roseville!
