Well, I just dropped by for a few cupcakes, so my experience was not very involved at all…read more Sweet tooth - saw shop - slammed on brakes. I bought four beautiful cupcakes! It was the afternoon so they weren't fresh out of the oven or anything, but each was different and just beautiful. The price was about $3.25 or so each and they were boxed up very nicely. Well, since I am insulin-dependent making this stop wasn't high on the intelligence scale. So I improvised and drove to one of my little hang outs and waited for some buddies to arrive. The consensus was "delish". I had part of a lemony cake that was not too sweet, not overly frosted and very pretty in presentation. Unfortunately this just is not my typical food item, but I was not at all disappointed.

I didn't even get to the tasting part and already hated it. I had heard from a friend and based on…read moretheir stellar reviews that they would be excellent. I'm sure their cakes are wonderful, but if you want customer service this is NOT the place to go. When I called, the person was very curt and it was difficult to get information as to whether or not my date (11 months out) was available. I was told that May, June, and July were starting to fill up and that I needed to make my decision fast. My fiance works full time out of town (4+ hours away) and I normally live out of town (3 hours away), so coming in on a Tuesday for a cake tasting together is almost impossible for us. I asked if there was any way we could possibly work around this. I understand it's policy, but how difficult would it be a bit more accommodating by using email, scanning pictures, phone conversations, allowing a relative or MOH to come in, etc, for a consultation on those days? She begrudgingly set up an appointment for me. No questions about the size of our wedding, when it was, where it was, or what flavors I had in mind. I called other bakers around town and even though they were busy, they still were incredibly accommodating, even though they all pretty much have the same policies as no tastings on the weekends. I was really shocked at the way I was treated, so I called back to Couture Cakes to ask for the owner, since judging by the rudeness I assumed it was an underpaid receptionist. She had the audacity to argue with me, saying that she was not rude and that she remembered speaking with me. She became incredibly defensive, saying that she was not curt in anyway and that I was wrong. She finally apologized, and when I said thank you and that I still wanted to conduct business with her, she just said with utmost attitude "well then, do you even want to come in then?" WHAT EVEN!? I felt like I was in the twilight zone and was sent back to some sort of high school drama. This is the type of business that gives women owners a bad name! I am so disappointed because I was looking forward to using them for our large wedding regardless of the tasting. If this is the way their business is conducted I do not foresee this business lasting much longer. DO NOT GO HERE! Just because she did AJ McCarron's engagement cake doesn't give her the right to conduct poor business. Please, do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. When you're in the throws of wedding planning the last thing you want to deal with is awful customer service.

First time trying this bakery and man it did not disappoint! The shop smells like a sugar cookie…read morecandle (perfect for a bake shop). They have multiple flavors of cakes, cupcakes and cookies. We decided on a classic vanilla "leftover" cake that was one day past Halloween. The sprinkles didn't scream Halloween, so it was perfect for my grandmas 90th birthday because she LOVES sprinkles! It was 50% off and man this cake tasted like a $100 cake! You can tell this was made with Fresh and real ingredients! The icing was my FAVORITE! It had a smooth bite to it! And the cake, Y'all it was sooo moist! It was a large round 2 layer cake. We had tons of leftovers for 6 people. Served with birthday cake ice cream and my grandmother LOVED it! I can't wait to go back and try their Carmel and strawberry flavors! 10/10! Supper local!

I really wanted to enjoy my treats from here but sadly I thought they were really disappointing…read more :( I came in about two weekends ago while on vacation with my in-laws in the area. This small shop is located in a large shopping center next to a grocery store I was unfamiliar with (Rouse's, if I remember correctly). Thankfully, that makes parking pretty easy. The inside is simple but cute, and very clean. The one girl working that day sort of looked at me like I'd grown three heads when I came in and didn't offer any assistance, but warmed up when I chatted her up while checking out. She was quite nice once we spoke to each other but the lack of hello or can I help you after looking right at me in an otherwise-empty shop was kinda weird. I selected two cake slices: a caramel cake slice and an oreo chocolate cake slice. I was somewhat tempted by the German chocolate cake but couldn't discern any coconut or pecan pieces in the frosting. Maybe it was a more literal /german/ chocolate cake, rather than the chocolate cake with pecan and coconut frosting named after Sam German? I usually assume the latter in average US bakeries but who can say. The lady at the register informed me the cake slices were BOGO that day, so the price was right! Though I can't help but wonder if the fact they were BOGO reflected some kind of decline in quality or an older cake slice, because sadly I didn't really enjoy either cake. I will admit I delayed a day or two between buying my slices and sharing them with my husband, so perhaps that contributed to the deterioration of it. At any rate, the Oreo chocolate cake was very dry. The icing had kind of separated from the cake and had crystallized into a crunchy, saccharine strip. My husband wouldn't even finish his half of the piece. The caramel cake was better, a tiny bit more moist with slightly less "crackly" icing. Still not my favorite -- a little on the dense side, and still fairly dry. Again, perhaps this experience was partially on me for delaying a day or so in eating my treats, but I dunno. Perhaps cupcakes are the way to go instead? I'm not sure. I'm sad I didn't have a super positive experience, but I like the concept of this business and I wish them success!
