I wasn't happy to see Winn-Dixie close the store, but that frown turned upside down when I learned Rouses would be opening another store in that building. Like every Rouses Market, you'll find fresh, local Gulf Coast seafood, along with tons of other local Gulf Coast brands. My personal favorites are the Mama Mia Pasta Sauce and Buddy's Cajun Chili Seasoning, made by our neighbors over in Louisiana. A trip to the freezer section will reveal Rouses store brand cannolis and gelato imported from Italy, both of which are divine. Don't rush past the hot food and soup bar or the sushi and prepared meals without stopping for a look. It's all delicious! I often run in to pick up dinner when I don't feel like cooking, and we've never been disappointed. Prior to doing our grocery shopping, we'll occasionally have lunch from the hot bar and eat at little cafe tables at the front of the store. Everyone knows you shouldn't shop for groceries on an empty stomach. Oh, did I mention the olive bar, coffee bean selection, pasta by the pound, the bakery with phenomenal cakes and pastries, the huge wine section and the walk-in beer cooler? The pulled out all the stops at this location! The prices are competitive and the customer service is exceptional, just as I've come to expect from Rouses. This is the best grocery store on the Eastern Shore, hands down!

It is convenient to both the locals who call Daphne, Alabama home and the travelers cruising down Interstate 10. The Fresh Market is a supermarket geared more towards a higher end experience, more of a food destination type foodie-driven kind of place and their prices reflect that (although they will run sales). The meat department is good, as is the deli. Their Market things have some items you might not find in supermarkets like Publix or Winn-Dixie. All in all, I would recommend a visit here.

First time visiting The Fresh Market but it will…read morenot be my last time It's just so weird that I've seen these stores around and never perused them. Here in Alabama as a Hurricane Ida evacuee, I decided to buy some Rao's pasta sauce on sale. Yeah, I was making big mama spaghetti at the hotel lol. I like tomato basil as it's excellent for lasagna and penne pasta dishes. Bolognese, Italian sausage, mushroom & bell pepper and Italian sausage & mushroom are my favs. Haven't tried the vodka sauce yet but I will. I normally make my tomato sauce from scratch like in The Godfather but I was pressed for time lol. So, this store has a ton of organic and fresh food products. Their meat department has friendly employees willing to help you with any questions about the enormous display of meats & seafood and if you need need fresh cuts of meats, they got you. I love that they still have butchers in this supermarket. I also love that there's a mix of meats like crab cakes, stuffed pork chops, tempura shrimp, stuffed duck and salmon burgers. Oh and the deli is also desirous with all sorts of pre-made lunches and dinners. Everything looked so tantalizing The store is a bit pricey but I love the variety of foods offered and great quality items. Reminds me of Kings Supermarket in Garden City, NY. So, for the reason of my visit: Rao's was only $5.99 and I bought 20 jars...yeah, it's just that amazing plus it's like $9.00+ a jar at other local grocers. This is the only store that regularly has it for $5.99. Oh and I'm a tea connoisseur and they keep a large variety of that as well as coffee. Needless to say, I'm a new fan and currently visit the St. Charles' store regularly. Try them, you'll be hooked.

It was the afternoon so they weren't fresh out of the oven or anything, but each was different and just beautiful. The price was about $3.25 or so each and they were boxed up very nicely. Well, since I am insulin-dependent making this stop wasn't high on the intelligence scale. So I improvised and drove to one of my little hang outs and waited for some buddies to arrive. The consensus was "delish". I had part of a lemony cake that was not too sweet, not overly frosted and very pretty in presentation. Unfortunately this just is not my typical food item, but I was not at all disappointed.

I'm sure their cakes are wonderful, but if you want customer service this is NOT the place to go. When I called, the person was very curt and it was difficult to get information as to whether or not my date (11 months out) was available. I was told that May, June, and July were starting to fill up and that I needed to make my decision fast. My fiance works full time out of town (4+ hours away) and I normally live out of town (3 hours away), so coming in on a Tuesday for a cake tasting together is almost impossible for us. I asked if there was any way we could possibly work around this. I understand it's policy, but how difficult would it be a bit more accommodating by using email, scanning pictures, phone conversations, allowing a relative or MOH to come in, etc, for a consultation on those days? She begrudgingly set up an appointment for me. No questions about the size of our wedding, when it was, where it was, or what flavors I had in mind. I called other bakers around town and even though they were busy, they still were incredibly accommodating, even though they all pretty much have the same policies as no tastings on the weekends. I was really shocked at the way I was treated, so I called back to Couture Cakes to ask for the owner, since judging by the rudeness I assumed it was an underpaid receptionist. She had the audacity to argue with me, saying that she was not rude and that she remembered speaking with me. She became incredibly defensive, saying that she was not curt in anyway and that I was wrong. She finally apologized, and when I said thank you and that I still wanted to conduct business with her, she just said with utmost attitude "well then, do you even want to come in then?" WHAT EVEN!? I felt like I was in the twilight zone and was sent back to some sort of high school drama. This is the type of business that gives women owners a bad name! I am so disappointed because I was looking forward to using them for our large wedding regardless of the tasting. If this is the way their business is conducted I do not foresee this business lasting much longer. DO NOT GO HERE! Just because she did AJ McCarron's engagement cake doesn't give her the right to conduct poor business. Please, do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. When you're in the throws of wedding planning the last thing you want to deal with is awful customer service.
