Routes Market is a great regional supermarket with locations spread throughout Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana. The company was started in 1960 and has grown considerably by offering quality food at a decent price point in an attractive store setting. Again, the store has a very pleasing ambiance for a supermarket and has a great layout. I liked that they had a salad bar station and an olive bar station and I did spend a bit of time perusing a shelf specifically for products made in the state of Alabama. Karma was the name of the girl who checked me out and she was extremely friendly and professional. She is a fine representative of Rouses Market and Rouses Market is fortunate to have Karma on their team. All in all, Rouses Market is a great supermarket and I would definitely recommend this particular location of Rouses Market. I will give it five stars overall. read more

We don't shop at Rouses often, normally Publix, and for the following reasons... Today's visit was greeted by store employees with the personality and enthusiasm of a pet rock. A pet rock painted over and buried in the back yard with a shed built over it. I'm not kidding! The cashier who checked us out tonight gave no greeting, no hello and how are you, not even a did you find everything you were looking for? Nope! She actually just grunted at us. And actually tossed her head back and put her nose up. REALLLLY! REALLLLLY! The sushi people - super kind and amazing! Store employee - a zero! And this is not the first time for this exact store! Maybe no employees or a self check is a better idea for this location because the terrible attitude and customer service will cost you money. read more

This is a very beautiful market! I stopped in to grab some sushi and a bottled water to go and a bag of carrots to have a picnic with my horse. The sushi was great and my horse loved the carrots. The store is beautifully laid out. Organized and a little nicer than Publix in my opinion. read more

Stopped by mid evening to grab a few things for Sunday breakfast. The store was pretty empty but it was clean. The associates were friendly, young kids. Their isn't much. Of variety unless you're looking for alcohol I've been referred to Rouses several times for their "salads or baked goods". When I was there both were closed and little set out for prepackaged. I'll stop by another time to see the salad bar and the bakery items but other than that, I'll go to Aldi's. read more

ONE open check out...no matter when you go. There could be 1 person in line or 20. One check out open. No self service. One check out open no matter when you go or how many people are waiting in line. And always someone standing in customer service just standing there on her phone not caring. read more

This store is one of the nicest, cleanest Rouses I have ever been in however, I picked up a prepared jambalaya at the deli. It was terrible and as someone from Louisiana trust me they need to review their recipe!! Yuck! Anyway, the store is always nice and has a lot of other options!! read more

This store is always clean and organized when I come here. They have a wide selection of wine and beer. The meat and seafood selection is good. They have a lot of local products in their store. The deli area has really good Asian food and will have good tamales as well, which is hard to come by here. The staff is always helpful and polite. read more

Every time I've been into the store it's been clean. People have been able to tell me where symptoms was at without any difficulty and the people that pick up and police the parking lot are just great it's been. It's a great time to go in there and shop. Thank you! read more

I picked the worse day to order groceries to be picked up. It stormed and everyone was there picking up groceries, or so it seamed at the same time. Rouses' employees handled it like pros and with umbrellas and rain slickers on they got all the groceries out to us waiting, with smiles and thank you's they did it! My only complaint is a package of mushrooms that didn't look too good and as usual with most grocers around here... they were out of a lot of what I ordered. I would highly recommend Rouses for their pick-up services. It's a great grocery store with great people that care working there. Thank you Rouses! read more

I wasn't happy to see Winn-Dixie close the store, but that frown turned upside down when I learned Rouses would be opening another store in that building. Like every Rouses Market, you'll find fresh, local Gulf Coast seafood, along with tons of other local Gulf Coast brands. My personal favorites are the Mama Mia Pasta Sauce and Buddy's Cajun Chili Seasoning, made by our neighbors over in Louisiana. A trip to the freezer section will reveal Rouses store brand cannolis and gelato imported from Italy, both of which are divine. Don't rush past the hot food and soup bar or the sushi and prepared meals without stopping for a look. It's all delicious! I often run in to pick up dinner when I don't feel like cooking, and we've never been disappointed. Prior to doing our grocery shopping, we'll occasionally have lunch from the hot bar and eat at little cafe tables at the front of the store. Everyone knows you shouldn't shop for groceries on an empty stomach. Oh, did I mention the olive bar, coffee bean selection, pasta by the pound, the bakery with phenomenal cakes and pastries, the huge wine section and the walk-in beer cooler? The pulled out all the stops at this location! The prices are competitive and the customer service is exceptional, just as I've come to expect from Rouses. This is the best grocery store on the Eastern Shore, hands down! read more

I go to this place often and this time was the second time I've gone to the hot bar for breakfast. First of all you should know that breakfast goes fast so getting there early is crucial. The gravy was almost as good as my moms!!!!! The biscuit was ok and everything else was less than ok except for the sausage, it was pretty good. I guess I'll have to get there earlier than 7:45, I'm not sure when they put the breakfast out but I'll call next time. By the way it looks like they have a good breakfast, scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, some kind of potatoes, biscuits and gravy and a fresh fruit and salad bar also. You can bet it's all gone by 8 am so hurry! read more

The service at this store continues to decline. I am disappointed every time I visit this location. Wondering if others must feel the same way, as every time I go, it's empty. My most recent visit: I stopped by in the evening and headed to the salad bar. I got to the salad bar, walked around once to decide where I wanted to start. No one else was there. After I picked up a container and began to add some items to it, one of the employees came over and started removing serving utensils from the food at the end of the bar. After removing a couple utensils, she asked if I was going to want any of the salads at the end of the bar. I said that I did not want any of the "pasta" salads, but thanks. She removed all of the pasta salad utensils and then started on the fruit. I was actually going to put some fruit in my container... but not now. I did not say anything to her. It was just a reminder of why I don't shop at this location very often. To the managers who hopefully read these reviews: please work with your associates on "reading the room." Someone at a salad bar is not going to be there for 30 minutes. It only takes a couple of minutes... Couldn't she have just waited? read more

I live in Fl and I really love this market especially the price of their bacon, seafood along with their prepared foods such as crawfish/beef hot pockets or the slab of ribs and chicken they sell in front by the check outs and let's not forget the bakery items so many wonderful items to choose from I love the New Orleans style cookies and cakes only place I'll buy my Kings Cake. This time that I stopped on my way back home they had crawfish boil on sale OMG everything was so good. Each time I've stopped by it's always a great experience. Rouses has the BEST KING CAKES!!!! They are baked in the store daily so obviously they are fresh. The cake itself is so moist and they do not skimp on the filling. read more

Seafood Dept put me on hold for 10 min. Upon arrival, they had shut down, would not boil frozen shrimp and had sold out of fresh shrimp. I bought a bag of apples for $2 lb and was charged $20 and then $13 until manager was able to make a price override of $6. In addition, the register monitor was broken and I was not able to verify until after purchase. Apparently Rouses prefers to loose business with poor customer service, lack of inventory, broken monitor and inaccurate pricing. I had a horrible experience and it was a total waste of time. I recommend going to the Rouses in Spanish Fort. read more

I am so beyond thrilled that the Rouses finally opened up in the old Winn Dixie location on the corner of 98 and Whispering Pines. The store opened on May 31st - and it is fulfilling my expectations for a local grocery that I will frequent more and more. I have to give rave reviews for the wine and beer selection, the wonderful seafood department, and my new favorite -- the build your own poké bar. I've gotten Poké bowls twice now in the last week, and I am very impressed. The quality of protein and toppings they have is awesome, and so affordable. If you've read any of my other yelp reviews, you'll notice that I am an avid sushi lover and a bit of a sushi rice snob. The Rouses sushi rice is done wonderfully. I will definitely be getting more Poké bowls in the future! On a random note, they managed to make the interior look so much more spacious than Winn Dixie did (I think, in large part because the actually grocery shelves are a little lower than most stores). So any shorties that have problems reaching the top shelf in normal grocery stores will be very pleased! read more
