    Mojito bar

1/18/25: The cabin was a nice size for two people. This was a 7 day cruise. Embarking/debarking wasn't bad. Jay at the Mojito Bar was very friendly and he remembered our names and drinks after the first couple of hours . Made at Mixx bar was another one of our favorite bartenders. We sought him out and enjoyed his friendly attitude. We enjoyed listening to Gravity and meeting Samantha. We did not enjoy having to go to Guest Services each day for the first 4 days to get a cabin phone issue addressed, and a non working remote and/or TV. We ran out of our 120 minutes of WiFi time without actually using it, not sure how that happened. Brazilian restaurant was a huge disappointment. We also had issues with Patrick, our original stateroom attendant. I spoke with Andro, and he had him replaced. Filbert, at Guest Services was friendly and tried to help me as much as he could. Annedolyne at Shore Excursions Staff, was rude and accused us twice of lying, when we were not able to go on our shore excursion in Roatan. She very reluctantly issued a refund, but she was very unprofessional. Cagney's and the Hibachi grill were great, as well as the pizza in the buffet. Adult only areas were nice. Belize was a fail, since it rained the day we arrived at the first port, and the weather was too rough the next day to allow tender boats to operate. Roatan and Cozumel were nice. I appreciated the recognition provided to military personnel and veterans. The welcome package for veterans was a very nice touch.

Usually, I would limit my reviews to restaurants and venues. However, after taking a 7 day cruise, I had to say something. So here it goes: Decided to take the family on a 7 day cruise, and even though my expectations were high after sailing on NCL before, it was met with dessappoinment. The ship (NCL Escape) is to hyped up for what it delivers. First and foremost, you must consider the price of the number of people you are going with. Although a family of 4 would need to be together, you are better off getting 2 rooms to save in the long run or think about lowering the room space. The price was way too much, especially after getting all the add ons. By the end of the cruise, the price would increase drastically. So that you are aware space was limited for 4 in a balcony suite. Really do your homework before doing anything. Speak with a travel agent that has vast knowledge of crusies and the ship you might take so you understand cruising. The upgrade is not necessary, as you will see the price ridiculously increase if you do. The ship is supposed to be new for its time on. However, it needed more maintenance and upkeeping. The food was mediocre, and the taste was salty on the majority of items. Specifically, the specialty dining eventhough I had 4 free dinners, I only did two. Food was just too salty and very repetitive. Some bathrooms needed more upkeep. The ship's legend by the elevator was all over the place with information. Service was excellent on all staff, and they ensured that the professionalism was very spot on. The shows on board were also excellent. Information by the ship's director was excellent, and the navigation was on point. Kudos to the Captain and his crew. Bars drinks were watered down on most of the bars. Drinks were repetitive when it came to menu items. However, the beverage premium package was worth its price. Get water for your room in advance, which also requires an expenditure. Out of all the ports of calls, only 2 were somewhat decent. 1 was a waste of time unless you were a beach lover. The ships" pool area" was too small for the number of passengers and to take advantage please go early. Kids did have plenty of space. On the ship's attractions, there were only ropes course and a waterslide. Didn't even want to use it. On this review, I would not recommend NCL Escape for a 7 day cruise. Perhaps a shortage voyage might be suitable for this ship. Prices do need to be more competitive and comparable, especially for a family of 4. You could take a nice 7 day vacation to Europe or another country, possibly for less. Again, this was my personal experience on this voyage. I know there are other ship's within NCL that easily outbid this one. Happy Crusin!

We cruised in Feb 2022 It's great time to cruise bc it's half the occupancy. It's so nice you hardly see anyone , not crowded at all. You have to take the COVID test prior to boarding so stay low key until you travel. Everything is sanitized often. Food - from buffet to sit down dinners - simply the best ( although that's Celebrity cruises anthem) I gained 10 lbs at the end of the cruise! What happens in the cruise, you have to loose n go on a diet after the cruise It's worth going to tepanyaki, and Cagney Drinks. If you drink more than 2 alcoholic drinks a day, it's worth getting the PBP. Excursions- great selections / book early as things get sold out. I've been a cruiser since to later 1990's. NCL does a great job w itinerary n food. You cruise once n you'll be a cruiser for life.

Just got back from a 7 day West Caribbean cruise.. we had a great time overall. We boarded the ship in Miami, there are no clear directions on how the embarkation works you just sit and wait with a thousands of people It's a massive ship (4,000ish people) so expect no real personal interaction with the crew members like on smaller ships. We ate at 3 specialty restaurants Teppenyaki, Bayamo seafood and Moderno churrascaría. All put out good food, what's expected on a cruise ship but nothing spectacular. The dining rooms Taste & Savor also had good food, the buffet was hit & miss like most are. You will be asked by every hostess & wait staff if you have food allergies during the entire cruise, nobody puts it on your account like on other cruise lines so you definitely notice the level of personalized attention is not there The shows are a must on cruises, we saw Choir of Man was fantastic, we saw two comedians, a comedy magic show and a couple of other song & dance shows all were very good. The excursions were easy to book but 1. the dune buggy advertised in Cozumel was a chopped VW, and the buffet provided was not good. The snorkel was at a resort it was good. 2. The reef scuba in Belize was boring, hardly any fish or coral and the crew did not engage with the group other then to go over their long list of rules. It was less then one hour of snorkeling 3. Roatan the Jolly Roger snorkel was fun, the coral and fish were amazing, the food was delicious and the rum punch and crew were awesome! 4. Chocchoban Mayan ruins in costa maya were great, our guide Daniel C provided lots of info on the air conditioned tour bus .. definitely worth seeing for all ages The cons: No free water bottles or specialty coffee with any drink packages, $5 for water $6.50 for a tall almond milk macchiato. Pool towels can only be checked out in or out in one place on the ship. People handling food without utensils at buffet and staff didn't stop them. People refilling water bottles directly from the dispenser and no staff member stoping them. To many things have added fees, game shows, events, shows, dining options, coffee, that you feel nickel and dimed. Debarkation is a shit show.. once you grab your suitcase you are on your own .. they tell you exit to the right but the buses to the airport are to the left. There are people in yellow vests who herd you into lines or tell you to go to the wrong place. It's hot people are tired and again no customer service reps to help guide you

Pool deck - there is plenty of activities going on in the pool deck with a hidden cave, fun slides, miniature golf, kids aqua park, and a ropes course. There are slides available for all ages, as well as some slides for the adventure seekers that shoot you straight down at exhilarating speeds. The mini golf is fun and challenging. The kids aqua park is sure to keep your kids entertained. And the ropes course is the real hidden gem with lots of self-guided courses in addition to zip lining that takes you over the ocean. This is a can't miss activity! Fitness room - I was impressed with the number of equipment available in the fitness room. While I'm not a frequent goer, I was able to squeeze in a great workout while on the ship. In addition, there is also a running track that's about 200 meters in length. Although with people walking the track, in addition to other passengers passing by, the lanes felt too narrow and it was a bit of a squeeze to pass people while jogging. Restaurants - With NCL boasting a "freestyle" cruise, it really allows you to eat anytime you like, which was one of the top reasons we chose this cruise line, especially when you have kids with you that need to eat at any time. With several main dining rooms, including The Manhattan Room, Savor, and Taste, in addition to several other complimentary restaurants on board such as O'Sheehans and the buffet at Garden Café, there was never much of a wait to be seated. The service, however, was a bit slow. We often had to wait very long times before getting our food. Entertainment - There were several Broadway quality performances offered on the cruise ship, including "After Midnight" and "For the Record: The Brat Pack". These shows were very entertaining and spectacular productions. In addition to these, there was also an "escape room-esque" game called Escape the Big Top, as well as a performance by The Mersey Boys which included a 3 course dinner all presented in The Supper Club. Cons: Entertainment space - I'm referring to the daily entertainment put on by the staff of the Escape. The entertainment themselves were very entertaining. However, the space they picked out was way too small. Events would often be over packed and always standing room only for people not arriving 30 mins early, especially for the more popular entertainment. They need to create a much large venue that can fit hundreds more people because there would often times be more people having to stand than there were seats available. Restaurants - The speed of receiving food at restaurants was often times excruciatingly slow. Having the kids with us made it even more painful as they would start running around and acting up while we had to wait on the food to arrive. Luckily The Manhattan Room offered live music and a dance floor, as well as a view of the back of the ship that kept them briefly entertained. But even for the adults, you would get hungry in between courses while waiting. Bar tending - My parents had a rewards card for the bar area through the casino, which was supposed to offer complimentary drinks. However, it seemed like every time they went to order, the bartender would not know which drinks were included, which ones were discounted, and which ones you had to pay entirely for. It was a bit of an annoyance, especially when they got a free drink one day and were told it wasn't included the next day. Arcade - Quite simply, the games in the arcade were overpriced. You couldn't find any game under $1. Luckily my kids are too young to leave in the arcade for now. But when they are older and need it as entertainment, my money won't go as far as it used to. Random charges to account - There were a couple of instances where we were charged for something we didn't use, including a specialty drink at a restaurant we did not dine at. The good news is that the front desk was able to credit it back to our account. But it was a waste of time having to wait in line and deal with the issue while on vacation. Service fee - Norwegian charges a service fee of $13.99 per person, per day, for passengers booked in standard cabins and mini-suites for all passengers ages 3 and above. Personally I prefer to provide my own tip depending on how I felt about services throughout the cruise. However, with that being said, I'm sure it makes it easier for the cruise and the staff to split the money more easily by having a standard service fee, and also prevents people from under tipping. For this cruise, the entire staff definitely earned their service fee, and I was very happy with the service provided. But that's from my perspective because I had a great time. Everyone has a different experience, and each cruise has different staff members. So it's hard to say if this model works for everyone. Overall, I had a very enjoyable cruise, and I will continue to consider NCL as a top choice on all future cruises.

My experience on this cruise changed my view of vacationing for life. I will take another cruise every year if possible. Norwegian Escape is so clean and beautiful. There are so many places to eat and experience on the ship. The balcony view is so nice from the rooms. The staff is very friendly in all aspects of the ship. The ropes course and waterslides on the top of the ship are fun! So many activities to indulge in that you will never be bored. We went to the Moderno's Brazilian Steakhouse for a special dinner. WOW it was very delicious. So many choices of meats and delicious dessert. I hope to take th Escape again in the future.

Sailed on the Escape in May of 2017 and had such a wonderful time! I sailed with my now husband, my sister, and my brother-in-law. This was my second cruise (my first with Norwegian), and I'll be sailing with Norwegian again soon next month. The Escape is a beautiful ship with gorgeous hull art by Guy Harvey. We found the Free at Sea promotion to work well for us, as we were able to get the beverage package for just the price of the gratuities with our oceanview room. Room: Went for an oceanview, and it was actually more spacious than expected. Our room steward kept it very clean and tidy. The bathroom was standard for a cruise ship, being a little on the smaller side, but totally fine for my husband and I. Food: The only specialty place we ate was Food Republic, and I would highly recommend stopping there! The food was great, fresh, and offered unique dishes within the ship. We ate all of our dinners in the MDRs (Taste, Savor, Manhattan) and thoroughly enjoyed the food with every meal. Sometimes our dinners took a bit longer than we would have liked (2 hours for a party of four), but nothing too crazy and not a dealbreaker by any means for us. Our favorite breakfast was the open faced smoked salmon bagel, so delicious especially with a morning mimosa! Our favorite lunch spot was O'Sheehan's for some wings. The wait at O'Sheehan's could get a little rough at times, but the wings are worth the wait. Drinks/Bars: Wait times weren't too bad, and we never had issues with drinks being too weak/watered down or anything like that. If you like sweeter drinks, the raspberry guava mojito at the mojito bar was fantastic! Bartenders were always friendly to us, and you'll definitely be remembered if you frequent one bar throughout the time of your cruise. Entertainment: We booked reservations for the two main shows before boarding, the escape room once we boarded, and popped in for various other events listed in the dailies at our leisure. We enjoyed the big production shows, found the escape room to be just ok, and the availability of other activities each day to be plentiful. Service: Always friendly! We felt that everyone we encountered really did want to make each guest's time on the Escape enjoyable. From our servers in the dining rooms to the bartenders to the room stewards to the cruise director and officers, we did not have any issues with service, impoliteness, or disgruntled employees. Other: We never used the pool (it was always very very crowded around the pool) and only used the hot tubs once. The water slide with the clear portion where you could see below the slide was fun (take your GoPro through it!), and the lines moved pretty quickly. The mini golf and ropes courses were fun to go through once or twice throughout our cruise, and again, lines weren't too bad for us. Ports were all enjoyable for us (Roatan, Harvest Caye, Cozumel, Costa Maya), and we did not encounter any issues with docking at the ports. Overall, we really had a wonderful time on the Escape! Maybe I'm just easy to please when it comes to having the opportunity to get away for a week and vacation on a megaship, but between myself and the group I traveled with, we had very few issues over our 7 night cruise!

Norwegian Escape - Miami to Eastern Caribbean

We went on the Norwegian Escape in January 2017. We went to the Eastern Caribbean to St. Thomas, Tortola & Nassau Bahamas. It was fantastic! Another great cruise with Norwegian! We had a suite with a LARGE balcony again just like we had on the Breakaway.. The room was spacious, the bed was VERY comfortable and housekeeping was awesome! The ship was beautiful, the restaurants were amazing and the Supper Club shows were a lot of fun. We had the all inclusive beverage package and the 4 day dining package and we had 2 nights dining in the Supper Club. A couple thing my husband and I did notice in comparison to the Norwegian Breakaway was the shows were not as great (nothing Broadway like Cirque or Rock of Ages) and the food in the main dining rooms (The Manhattan Room, Savor & Taste) was terrible... O'Sheehan's Pub was okay for a bite to eat at lunchtime. DO NOT come on THIS ship without the dining package where you can go to whatever restaurant you choose. We made the mistake of not getting the dining package on this cruise and the first night we ate at Taste and it was disgusting... NOTHING like the Breakaway. We didn't even finish out meals and complained about the food and they allowed us to have the dining package. THANK GOD... lol The other restaurants were fantastic and we enjoyed each and every one of them! Be SURE to make reservations ahead of time for the week because they book up fast!! Teppanyaki was a lot of fun! Hibachi with a lot of entertainment and awesome food! Cagney's Steakhouse was fantastic! We had intimate outdoor dining and the food was delicious!! Top notch steakhouse! La Cucina Italian restaurant is the place to go for a long, relaxing meal. Again we chose outdoor dining and the service here was amazing and the food was cooked to perfection! Moderno Churrascaria restaurant was great fun too! They came around with so many different varieties of meats... it was endless! The Food Republic was a great spot for lunch. The sushi and pad thai was scrumptious! This was our favorite spot for lunch! (This was NOT included in any of the dining packages). The Cellars Wine Bar was also a great place to have some fun! The wine selections were pretty good too! The Supper Club "Wine Lovers the Musical," ($19.95 per person) Was a great way to escape the sun for a couple hours during the afternoon to enjoy a wine tasting, some laughs and good food! We were seated with a fantastic couple and we actually became great friends. The space for The Supper Club is very vibrant... velvety blacks and reds, intimate seating and dazzling lighting fixtures. (This meal was a set menu) The Supper Club "After Midnight" starring Brenda Braxton (I can't remember the cost) Was just okay in my opinion. It was a set menu and we were not impressed with the bite sized food at all. It wasn't enough to feed a bird and it sucked.. We had to eat elsewhere after the show. The show itself was mediocre at best. I found myself getting bored... As far as the excursions... In St. Thomas we went on a beach excursion and then spent the rest of the time exploring their shops and ate lunch at Greengos (delicious Mexican), in Tortola we did the Bath's excursion... Total waste of time. There were so many people in line to explore the caves (over 2 hour wait) and we didn't even have 2 hours there... So.. Don't waste your money and In Nassau Bahamas we went to Love Beach.. It was a very nice beach, with walls of conch shells. Snorkeling was okay. Didn't see a huge variety of fish. All in all it was a fantastic cruise and Norwegian came up on top again. We are already booked for another Norwegian cruise January 2018! Cannot wait!!

If you're thinking about cruising and considering NCL, I say go for it! This was my second cruise with Norwegian (I went to the Bahamas on the Gem two summers ago). This time, we did a week-long cruise from NYC to Bermuda at the end of April and had a great time. NCL always delivers! I strongly recommend working with a NCL cruise agent to work out a deal that includes the drinks package, specialty dining, room upgrade, etc. We were able to get a balcony stateroom, the drinks package, and specialty dining for a pretty decent price. You will have to pay the gratuity fee, but it's nothing compared to paying full price. Food- The Escape has 5 complimentary restaurants (including the buffet and an Irish pub that's open 24 hours). Overall, the food served in the complimentary restaurants is decent. Some meals were better than others. A lot of people don't realize that the complimentary sit-down restaurants are open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner! I personally preferred having breakfast and lunch at Savor and Taste as opposed to the buffet. O'Sheehan's is great to soak up the drinks after leaving the club at 3 am! Remember to indulge because you paid for it :) Specialty Dining- If you can, get the specialty dining! We were able to get 3 nights of specialty dining as part of our package (we did have to pay for gratuity). We went to La Cucina (Italian), Teppanyaki (Hibachi), and Moderno Churrascaria (Brazilian Steakhouse) and they were all SO good. The star of the show for me, however, was Food Republic. They serve small plates and have a global fusion theme and it was so yummy! We paid for this meal out of pocket but it was definitely worth it. Bars- NCL has 10+ bars, including a mojito bar, a brewery, and a wine cellar. Again, we were able to get the drinks package included in our reservation. If you're like me and you like to take full advantage, try all the different bars. I promise you won't be disappointed! *If you have the drinks package, there is a $15 limit on drinks. If you order a drink that's more than $15, you'll pay the difference. Nightlife- Unlike some other NCL ships, the Escape does not have a designated club. Skyline Bar, right next to the casino, becomes the nightclub after 11pm. We had a blast every night! NCL also hosts theme parties at Spice H20. I was pleasantly surprised with the 80s and 90s party! The glow party was okay (they play mostly techno music at this one). Entertainment- There is never a shortage of things to do on a NCL cruise. The Escape has a ropes course and plenty of cool water slides. They also do a great job of planning different activities throughout the day. There wasn't enough time to do everything! I would say there aren't enough hot tubs for a ship that's so large. Most hot tubs were usually full by 11 am (mostly with kids and teens). If you have this same problem, go to Spice H20! It's adults only and has two additional hot tubs. The Escape only has one pool. Since I cruised in April and the weather wasn't warm enough for the pool about 3/7 days, the pool wasn't too crowded. The weather was warm enough for the pool on port days when the ship was mostly empty. However, I can see how one pool for 3,000+ people can get hectic during the warmer seasons. I also wasn't a fan of having to make reservations for all the entertainment. This was new to me considering the shows on the Gem were open to everyone. As you can imagine, the shows filled up quickly. There is a stand-by line, but you have to get there 20/30 minutes before the doors open. Later in the week, they had the same shows in the main theater. The shows in the main theater are open to everyone, so I wouldn't worry about not being able to get reservations for a show. Finally, the service was always great! This is a larger ship, so it didn't always have the warm vibes I got on the Gem, but everyone was very helpful and attentive. The people on these ships work so hard! The $15 per day gratuity charge doesn't even seem like enough.

    Oh baby...

We sailed on the Norwegian Breakaway out of New York last year, what a pleasure it was to sail on the Norwegian Escape out of Miami for Thanksgiving week 2015! The Breakaway was the design for this ship, everything seemed better on the Escape. From the pool slides, the shows as well as the specialty restaurants, better. I'm not sure where to start on this review, I don't want to write a text book. I want you to sit back, pour yourself a drink and make a decision based on my Yelp Elite review of the brand new Norwegian ship. Cabin- We had a mini suite. Now if your asking yourself why a mini suite, I'll tell you. Didn't I say to have a drink and chill? Our bathroom was huge! We had a full stand up shower that had multiple jets as well as a double sink. The bathroom is the biggest thing you want in a cabin Also, bring at least two bars of soap. What they give you is from a liquid dispenser. Shows- Book your dinner and shows online before you sail. I've seen people with no reservations walk up to the steak house asking to be seated. They were sent away! I left Friday as an open day, I couldn't get into Teppenyaki. Plan ahead! The shows themselves, over the years I've seen a suck fest of musicals. I can honestly say I was blown away by the Million Dollar Quartet and The Tenors of Rock. Simply amazing and well acted. Speciality restaurants- We went to some really cool places all week. I think the Rib eye/Côte de boeuf was better at Le Bistro than at Cagneys Steakhouse! La Cucina IMHO was also very good. What was a standout place was the Moderno Churasscaria. Wowza! Great salad bar and the meats were of high quality. Very impressed. What I was disappointed with was Bayamo Restaurant. We had a nice table on the outside promenade. I had a speciality cocktail, everything should be A+? Nah, for an iron chef he needs this place to pump iron. The shrimps were overcooked and mushy and the dessert was weird. Pass on this place and go to the Tapas place instead. Alcohol- Sure, you can grab a beer by the pool. My son and I started off day 1 like that but when you get a Margarita? They use sucky tequila. Walk over to Margaritaville and get a Mango Margarita as well as a few Landshark beers. That's how we started off day 2. Every day we hit up the The District Brew House. From the Left Handed Milk Stout and funky cocktails, this was the drinking spot for us. I also liked grabbing a glass of different wines at The Cellars while waiting for my wife to get dressed. Pools- We hung in the hot tubs at the adult only side in the back of the ship. Going out to see, we were at the main pool. Packed with people, the hot tubs were backed, the music/DJ was great. Fun fun fun! My wife and I used a two person raft and went down the huge water slide. Highly recommended, don't pass on the water slides!! There are so many other items I'm sure I forgot to touch on, I have to say for me and my family this was one of the best cruise ships we've ever sailed on. I highly recommend the Norwegian Escape

Oh sweet baby Jesus... This was the best 7days ever!!! My boyfriend and I had the most fun and relaxing time. The ship, the crew, the shows, the food, the ports.... EVERYTHING WAS AMAZING!!! WE ARE PLANNING OUR CRUISE FOR NEXT YEAR

The Norwegian Escape is one cool and hot ship! It includes major elements direct from Miami like Tobacco Road and Food Republic, and was christened with champagne by none other than its godfather, Miami-based rapper Pitbull. Its color scheme draws from Miami Vice and the hull art of Guy Harvey; its hotness is affiliated with the Miami Heat; and its coolness is reflected in the sleek water slides that loop around the ship, including two clear tubed chambers that begin with a plummeting 6-second dead drop as a trapdoor springs open that is somewhat reminiscent of the rapid descent experienced by riders in the now departed Tower of Terror at Disney's California Adventure. Then there is Spice H2O at the stern of the ship: late party central; an Aqua Park,; hot tubs and a pool; a salon and barbershop; a large fitness center; a Canyon Ranch Spa featuring one of the best Thermal Suites at sea located on the bow of the ship with 16 heated ceramic loungers looking down on the sea, 16 regular lounges, a Salt Room, Steam Room, Solarium, Sauna with an ocean-view glass wall; a whirlpool and heated aquatic playground with metal rails and a few individual grottos designed for reclining in the swirling hot waters; and even a Snow Room. Many activities occur in the atrium; live entertainment is spread around the ship each night, including a broadway show and magician in the 1,000-seat theater; dueling pianos, comedians, singers, and bands; and besides multiple regular dining rooms and an enormous buffet that spans over 50 yards on both sides of the ship, 10 specialty restaurants are available for guests to enjoy, including Moderno Churrascaria, Iron Chef Jose Garces' Ecuadorian-influenced Bayamo and Pincho tapas bar; the aforementioned Food Republic, Le Bistro classical French restaurant, La Cucina Italian restaurant, the pub food at O'Sheehan's Neighborhood Bar & Grill, Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville at Sea, the sophisticated Supper Club that is the site of a Tony-nominated cabaret singer, and Teppanyaki Japanese steakhouse. A bakeshop and gelato emporium are also open for business, and several retail shops. And one of the largest casinos at sea is available for slot play, table games, and even Texas Hold'em poker. The food is great if one is willing to pay extra for most specialty restaurants. Bedding is very comfortable. On my recent sailing, cruise ship staff, including the captain, were almost uniformly friendly, professional, and efficient in carrying out their assigned tasks; and shore excursions I experienced were varied, reasonable in price, and well run. The cruising itself was almost always swift and smooth. What is there not to like on the Escape?

When I booked on TripAdvisor, the tour was listed as being 1hour and 20 minutes. The sail time was listed as 2:30pm with a suggested arrival time of 2pm. We arrived at 2pm on March 19th 2026. We easily found the waiting area...by the Ferris wheel and Hard Rock Cafe. There was no particular order to the line. Once the crew arrived they scanned our digital confirmations and handed us paper tickets. They pulled this wooden ship's wheel out, and began directing us to the wheel to take a photo. We knew this to be a marketing ploy for possible purchase of the photo later. Normally, I do not have an issue with this, I get it. However when we tried to decline the taking of the photo, we were told it was for "safety purposes " and we could always decline the purchase later. Really? I've never heard of such a thing? I felt as though they weren't being honest with us. Once on board, the ship did not pull off until 2:50pm. We returned at 3:50pm. So, in actuality the tour was an hour. The tour let us know about a few historical facts about Biscayne Bay and pointed out celebrity mansions. I know this is a pretty standard tour for the area. This particular one felt rushed with the narrator speaking fast, the music mediocre and not much group interaction. I probably have exhausted my Biscayne Bay tours. I do not see me taking another one, and certainly not with this company.

However, we were very disappointed because the ship was dirty, the smell of gasoline was nauseating at times, and even worse, there was a horrible smell, that of a dead rat or animal of the sort, and trash as well. That aspect made the tour unpleasant and it's unacceptable. THEY NEED TO CLEAN THAT BOAT! PS. The music they play its EXTREMELY LOUD!

The boat was spacious, clean and the crew was very helpful. Great option of snacks and drinks. Jorge from the team did a fantastic job keeping everyone safe explaining the needed safety procedures and politely redirecting people if they stood in an unsafe place or position during the tour. Dr. George has a plethora of knowledge about literally anything we seem to pass by and provides the commentary in a generally neutral and positive way (not always easy to do when discussing Miami's history!). There was also staff onboard from the museum that were very helpful to answer questions. Just a couple points of feedback about the ship: the snack and drink bar seemed to not be able to accept card, due to technical difficulties, which was a bummer since many people nowadays don't have cash. Also, the indoor space at the bottom seemed to be kept very cold. But of course, there were lots of other options for seating including the top that is covered and the front part of the boat had a great view and plenty of room for lots of people.

You should reserve tickets in advance if you want to secure a time. The departure point in Bayside Marketplace, an open air mall and bar / restaurant / entertainment complex in downtown. Parking here (for 2+ hours, which is pretty much required to cover the entire cruise + check-in window) was $34! You are required to check in 45 minutes before departure, probably so they can ensure you don't show up at the last minute and demand a refund. From what I could tell, there were several other boat tour companies also hawking trips from multiple booths at this mall, so maybe you can just walk up for some of them (?). We boarded about 15 minutes before departure. This involved getting forced photos taken, which is always a bad sign to me. If you had arrived early enough (before we did) they even tracked you down before the departure to try to sell you photos. In our case, we just exited afterwards and never got the sales pitch. The cruise itself is not bad. Miami's Biscayne Bay is certainly scenic, and the boats, homes, and skyline you see are interesting. My advice would be to sit on the right / starboard side, as you can generally get better views from there. The cruise starts along the Miami shoreline, then heads out into the bay past various islands. Eventually, you come upon a few areas that are densely developed with high-end homes. The owners of the homes were mostly people whom I'd never heard of - local retiree billionaires who sold pharmaceutical companies, whoever founded Instagram, someone who owns and NBA franchise, etc. Occasionally some name would come up that I had heard of (people recently tried or jailed for things, musicians from a bit further back, etc.). You then pass some even more exclusive island with more generic condos where other celebrities (most of whom I'd heard of) live at least part time. Then you pass the working port area with the cranes and large container ships en route back. The last 10 minutes of the cruise is again the Miami shoreline. The guy doing the narration was good - he seamlessly switched between English and Spanish and sounded fluent in both. There was a bar on board and some of the tour group were quite enthusiastic about it. However, given that I was facing 30+ minutes in Friday Miami rush hour right after the tour, I didn't really want to add alcohol to that scenario. In summary - this wasn't bad, it just wasn't "for us". The scenery was nice, but a lot of the 'content' was stuff I just don't care about.

The best part of the trip was how we had the boat exclusively to ourselves! I didn't know it'd be a private tour until the day I came. So, the boat was just a total of 3 people (captain included). The water temperature was great and the clarity was decent. We even saw two dolphins! You meetup at Whiskey Joe's at the marina and you can start your excursion immediately. I liked that you didn't need to wait around much. I was able to see some cool looking fish, a bottom feeder and a crab. You get 2 hours for the snorkeling and you're not required to wear any life vests (in fact, we weren't offered any and I didn't see any). The water is super shallow so it didn't seem dangerous at all. The water is also salty and easy to float in. The boat was nearby the main snorkeling area. The bad: The area for snorkeling was pretty small. It was an artificial reef where the fish were but outside of that area there is just seagrass and there's no living things to observe. The website says snorkeling starts at $75/pp and up but that's misleading b/c that's only the price if you have 8+ people. When I came to the marina, the worker who had me sign paperwork said that "$25/hour tip is required" when I got an email saying 15% tip is optional. My husband clarified and he said "yes, it's required" but later retracted his statement after I clarified that it was strange to give tip upfront before we even went on the excursion. However, I did already give 15% tip upfront on 50% of the value and then Zelled an additional $25 tip to the captain himself afterward. The cost for snorkeling ended up being $407 for 2 people (pricey). The interesting: The captain swam with us to lead us to the reef and then swam back and was mostly on his phone.

A small deposit is due during the time you sign your contract with the remaining balance and tip on the day of your trip. They offer drink and food services but we opted to bring our own as they provide an ice cooler. Our captain, Daniel, was great. He texted me right before and we let him know we were running late. Our Uber dropped us off at the wrong location which made us more late but he still gave us our time back when he did not have to all. Once he helped us onto the boat, he asked where we wanted to go and took us to a small island with other boats. He also gives you full access to the music. We went around the mansions and islands of Biscayne Bay for about 90 minutes as the sun set. The tour guide was informative while keeping things light and fun, and the DJ added to the atmosphere by timing songs from artists like Shakira, Jennifer Lopez, and Ricky Martin as we passed their homes. There were plenty of photo opportunities, and although the boat was on the smaller side, it didn't feel crowded. The top and front were open-air, with covered seating downstairs. Approaching the lit-up Miami skyline at the end of the ride was a highlight. The boat had a bar with reasonably priced drinks ($5 beers and $10 cocktails) and snacks available for purchase. The only downside was unclear check-in instructions. The email said the booth was inside Bayside Marketplace behind Chili's on the second floor. Right across from Chili's is a storefront for a different tour operator, and downstairs there are at least ten other booths with similar names, which made it confusing. After asking around, we learned the Fiesta Cruises booth was actually outside on the dock--you have to walk through the Tasca Paella restaurant to reach it. Once we found it, check-in and boarding were smooth. Parking at the garage can also be challenging, especially on weekend evenings or during events. My tour coincided with a Miami Heat game next door, which made traffic and parking more difficult and expensive (a $57 flat event rate). The company did send a warning email recommending public transit or rideshare. Even arriving an hour early, it still took about 40 minutes to park and locate the check-in booth.
