I had a very disappointing experience at this dental office with my daughter…read more During her cleaning, the hygienist poked her gums several times, sprayed water onto her face, and did not properly suction the water and toothpaste from her mouth, leaving my daughter having to swallow the toothpaste-filled water. I understand that dental cleanings can be uncomfortable, but the overall experience was not what I would expect, especially when treating my child. Things became even more concerning when the dentist came in. She had no idea we were new patients and spoke to us as though we had been there before, which immediately made me question how prepared the office was for our appointment. During the exam, the dentist told me my daughter needed fillings. I asked a very reasonable question about what material they use for fillings because I wanted to understand what would be placed in my daughter's teeth and do my own research before agreeing to treatment. I was told it was "composite," but the dentist could not give me a specific product or material name. I explained that I wanted to research it before making a decision. At that point, the dentist stopped the exam and began questioning me about fluoride. I told her that we do not want fluoride, and instead of simply respecting my decision and continuing the examination, she proceeded to lecture me about fluoride. The most concerning part was that she never even finished my daughter's exam. As a parent, I believe I have every right to ask questions about my child's dental treatment, including what materials are being recommended, and to take the time to research them before consenting to treatment. I expect a dentist to answer those questions professionally, not become confrontational or stop an examination because I want more information. Needless to say, we will not be returning to this dentist. I will be looking for another dentist who is willing to communicate with parents, answer questions, respect parental decisions, and make sure my daughter receives a complete and thorough examination.

Professional, didn't "hurt" and again, worked like clockwork with the hygienist and dentist. Then, I broke a crown, took me in immediately the next day, again, in quick, addressed concerns. My first appointment was supposed to be for intake - Xrays, etc. - and a cleaning. They only did the Xrays and rescheduled me for the cleaning. Unprofessional start, but whatever. Then today I arrived to my 2pm appointment on time and the "cleaning" started at 2:50pm. Annoying, but it's a dental appointment. Not a huge deal. Now, onto the torture. Right off the bat Dr. Nicole Stewart-Joseph was incredibly passive aggressive, mocking me for using the napkin they put around your neck to spit out some excess mouthwash the dental assistant gives you. Then tells me alright I'm going to be cleaning your gums and it's going to hurt. Weird, but ok sure it's always a little uncomfortable. Then she proceeds to absolutely obliterate my gums with undeniably excessive force using the needle hook tool, while yelling at me to stop moving. I'm not squirmy at all with pain, but this was unbearable and I couldn't help but keep reflexively flinching - and all the while she's yelling "I warned you, I warned you!" You should know I'm a 35 year old male who's had 1-2 cleanings every year since I was a child. I know what a cleaning feels like. So at this point I'm like what is actually happening right now, and try to mumble to let her know we need to take a break. She continues without hesitation, yelling at me to stop talking, stop moving, and that it's my fault for not brushing my gums well enough. I brush my teeth *and gums* twice every single day. I've actually been told in the past I brush my gums TOO hard and had to dial it back in the past. So, my gums are more than tough enough for a regular cleaning. I know what it feels like to have a painful cleaning because you haven't brushed or flossed enough - this was absolutely not that. So 10 minutes into this "procedure" I'm now choking on my own blood and spit because she's not even suctioning anymore, just yelling at me. So I had to physically get out of the chair, remove the napkin necklace, and speedwalk out of there like I was escaping a Game of Thrones torture scene. Absolutely insane. I'm home now still shaking in disbelief this happened. There is absolutely no reason a cleaning should be THAT painful - all while a medical professional is yelling "It's your fault!" and "I warned you!". Spare yourself and find a different dentist.

I can't say enough good about this practice. On a scale of 1-10, with 10 being the best, they're a 15. Everyone there - the three Resh brother dentists and all their staff - are above and beyond excellent in every way. For example, they never fail to squeeze you in for an emergency, even for a quasi emergency. Each time I've had a tooth extracted (three), my dentist, Dr. Jim, called to check on me. With the third extraction, he called while his family and he were away on vacation and then he called the office to ask them to squeeze me in to have Dr. Eric look at my mouth ASAP due to prolonged pain. There aren't many dentists who would show that kind of concern for a patient in pain when they're away on vacation. Dr. Eric was wonderful, too. If you're looking for a dental practice with competent, caring, professional, friendly, accommodating dentists and staff in a beautiful office, you will have found it at Resh Family Dentistry. They're the best and I'm so glad I chose them.

I really appreciated Dr. Truesdale taking the time to talk to me about my dental issues from a wholistic approach and I even vocalized that to her during my appointment. I scheduled my appointment for fillings and came in for my second appointment for the procedure. My appointment was at 9:40am. I walked in at 9:35 am and filled out my paperwork and was not seen until about 10:20am. I believe my procedure was started around 10:30. The delay was not ideal but I'm generally pretty understanding when it comes to doctor's offices and the domino effect of delays with one patient effecting the rest of the day so I was not too bothered. The procedure itself was brief, which I appreciate because I had to rush back to work afterwards. I then went to the front desk to pay my copay and I requested a quote for a night guard. The woman at the desk notified me that she had "provided me a quote already" and seemed very impatient. She then told me the price and it was out of my budget ($300 out of pocket) so I told her I would hold off for now. She had me pay my copay for the fillings, gave me my receipt, and as I was about to leave she said "oh wait there's an outstanding balance on your account for another $60 for counseling. Since you talked about your TMJ during your last appointment and your insurance doesn't cover counseling." I did not argue, as I was a little shocked and my mouth was still very numb from my procedure. I said nothing and swiped my card. This interaction made me uncomfortable. I was not given a choice as to if I wanted "counseling" or not and I have never had a dentist charge me for this before. I would really appreciate a heads up so I can opt in or out of a service. I have a very tight budget and this extra $60 makes it difficult for me to get gas this week for my car. I then walked out of the office to my car and looked in my mouth. I had metal residue on multiple teeth from the removal of my old fillings. I know this is not technically harmful but I didn't want to swallow that. Taking a few seconds after the procedure to rinse/ brush off my teeth would have really been appreciated. This experience left me feeling rushed out, undervalued, and taken advantage of. Not to mention, I found a new dentist, same insurance and they quoted me only $150 out of pocket for my mouth guard. That's half the price that Innovation Dental quoted me. They also billed codes to my insurance for "oral surgery" when I got my fillings and that is still up for debate on if it was appropriate. I have my insurance company looking into it. I would not go back here. Between the wait times and shady charges, I was left unsettled.

I'm grading my review of Kleinman one star, only because a review cannot be posted without a…read moregrading. In truth, he deserves -10 stars, based upon my interaction with him today. I was referred to him by my family dentist for recurring, intense gum pain where my dentist had extracted four teeth a few years ago because my dentist can't figure out the cause of the pain. Kleinman walked into the exam room, with a face that would stop an 8-day clock, didn't even introduce himself, and said in an I-couldn't-care-less tone of voice, OK, so what's the problem? When I told him, he said this isn't my area, you need an oral surgeon (before he had even looked at my gums). Aren't gums the specialty of a periodontist and isn't Kleinman a periodontist??? Then he said my dentist hadn't referred me to him, I had chosen him myself, which is a lie, making him a liar, and I told him so. I had a copy of my dentist's referral in my purse and my dentist had sent him copies of my most recent X-rays of the gum area weeks ago. Then he finally got around to looking at the gum area, pressed down hard on it, I saw stars, he said it's probably a bone infection, tell your dentist to open it up and clean it out. When I told him my dentist had already opened it up and found no cause for the pain, Kleinman said then go see an oral surgeon, I can't help you. An addendum to the review I posted yesterday --- Last night I found a message on our answering machine from Kleinman's office, left yesterday morning, to advise me not to show up for my appointment yesterday afternoon --- because Kleinman had reviewed my records from my dentist and, on the basis of those, he had determined that I need an oral surgeon, not a periodontist. What??? First of all, he had told me that he hadn't received anything from my dentist --- no referral, no X-rays, no records, nothing. He told me that his staff had told him that I had taken it upon myself to find him and make an appointment. So how could he review records that he claimed he hadn't received??? He is such a liar. Secondly, it was in late March when my dentist had sent him my most recent X-rays and I had made the original appointment, April 15, which I subsequently needed to change to April 29 because I was sick on the 15th. The time for him to have reviewed what had been sent to him by my dentist and to have let me know he couldn't help me was long before April 15 had rolled around. Not one month later, on the morning of the appointment, after I had rescheduled it, after I had filled out multiple forms online. Not to mention --- his office had called me a few times prior to April 15 to ask if I could come in ahead of the 15th whenever they had received a cancellation from another patient. And why wasn't I told this at the receptionist desk when I showed up there yesterday??? Instead, she had me fill out yet another form, take a seat, and wait for Kleinman to see me. Now I see why Kleinman was so rude, abrupt and dismissive with me yesterday in the exam room --- because he had already decided he had no intention of helping me and he wanted to get rid of me ASAP.

I was told that it would cost $10,000 and 7 surgeries over two years to correct my severe gum recession. I reluctantly agreed as this practice does accept my dental insurance, and would defray a large portion of the cost. I followed the very limited recommendations provided by this office post surgery, which consisted of three actual instructions and things like "call our office if you have problems and take the ibuprofen" contained on the remainder of the 2 pages. I was underwhelmed by the written and verbal directions provided by the periodontist and googled other peridontists' recommendations for post-gum grafting. I found them recommending additional post-op suggestions including, but not limited to: not using a straw and how long to stay on which type of foods (with suggestions). I added these limitations to very limited ones provided by the dentist to try to increase my odds of success. At my post-op, I was told that I had lost a large portion of the gum graft. I understand that the procedure sometimes fail. However, the only instructions for ongoing care was given AFTER I said that I was glad to finally be able to brush my teeth. The dentist only then told me to continue not brushing on my right side for another two weeks. I had to call back to ask if I was to continue to chew only on my left side as well. The staff told me that it was in Dr. Kleinman's notes, but he never relayed to me. Communication with Dr. Kleinman was severely lacking! On multiple visits, he would provide different verbal instructions from printed instructions. When confronted, he would swear that he went over all the written directions, which was not the case. Perhaps I'm the anomaly and the other patients experiences are the norm at this practice. But my advice would be get a second opinion before choosing to use this practice for your dental needs.
