After a mix up with insurance the first time around, I handed the front desk worker my CareFirst insurance card. She said that it was fine and they accept that insurance. I get a bill later for over $565 for two cleanings and an X-ray. I called in and the front desk worker said that they do not fully accept CareFirst and I have to pay the rest. She denied ever telling me that they accepted it, but found no issue with scanning my card in and not telling me that I will have $565 to pay later. She said Dr. Bowersox would call me back two times but he never did. So, I sent in a check for what CareFirst sent me and wrote "paid in full" on the check. Dr. Bowersox cashed it and then continued to ask for the rest. I have reported them to the BBB for deceitful business practices because they will have no problem taking your insurance while neglecting to tell you that they do not actually accept it.

The procedure stations are bright, welcoming, and spotlessly clean, as is the reception area. The young assistant today worked hard to help ease my anxiety before my extraction and 2 fillings. It was obvious to me that she was trying hard to be fast as well as careful as she set up tools and equipment and chatted with me. Afterwards, Dr. Fishman had an adjustment to make in her routine that will save time and effort in the future. Before my retirement I had occasion to observe many "busy professionals" criticize assistants. I was so impressed how, in the most gentle, polite yet serious and non-intimidating manner Dr. Fishman accomplished this, that I felt compelled to mention it here. A boss who treats colleagues and staff well is the reason why everything in this dental practice is what it is. Bravo Brilliant Smiles of Maryland! Bravo Dr. Fishman! Last but certainly not least, Dr. Fishman checked often that I was all right, and his skill was as high on the painless scale as medically possible.

The receptionists at the front desk are polite. as well as his dental assistant! The office is very modern and professional looking. I have received 3 emergency FRONTAL crowns, 1 root canal and Zoom Whitening, under his care. He is extremely gentle and has a very warm bedside-manner! After visiting, I always receive a follow up call that evening, or the next day, from Dr. Pattanashetti directly! I was initially terrified of going to the dentist, but Dr. Pattenashetti truly has magical hands!!!! His work is extremely precise, PAINLESS and done swiftly. She got X-rays and cleaned my teeth with no discomfort at all. Dr. Bakir, was also very friendly and knowledgeable. He listened to my history, performed and thorough examination, explained concerns and next steps in a clear and understandable manner. He didn't try to get me to consent to unnecessary treatment, as some dentist have in the past. He met me where I am and just a all around pleasant and professional dentist. I am a veteran, and at times using care in the community can be subpar. But I am excited to have been referred to this dental office because I will be receiving high quality care!

Sorry but I have to update this review. This practice has an issue with the support staff. The last…read moretime I was in for a cleaning I saw Dr Bakir and the appt went fine. This time not so much. The receptionist kept calling my Carolyn even though my name is printed on all the electronic forms. This is really frustrating. I unknowingly was booked with a technician. Not only was she overagressive with use of a huge steel dental pick around my gum line and scraping areas that were sensitive she was heavily pregnant and kept putting her stomach on either my shoulder or head during the exam. That is totally inappropriate to touch a patient like that. Also the last time I was there for a repair (I had a weird chip on my front tooth) Dr Bakir fixed it with something called a film and not bonding. It literally looks clear. That was also inappropriate. I probably will end up scheduling elsewhere next time.
