My sweet, sweet pup on a soft velvet blanket, provided by the wonderful techs (Amanda and Danielle).
Kay L.

My experience here in mid June 2024 was very special. I cannot say enough good things. My 12 year old fospice (foster + hospice) pup's health rapidly declined in a matter of hours. I knew what to look for, and immediately rushed him to NorthStar Vets (in Maple Shade). Dr. Sayeed conducted a thorough exam, and we both agreed that it was time to let him go peacefully. The care, kindness, love, and compassion my pup received as he crossed over the rainbow bridge was exceptional. I am very grateful for our medical team that Saturday night: Dr. Sayeed (vet), and Danielle & Amanda (vet techs). These women are all angels... while Danielle and Amanda were prepping him, they sat on the floor with us, and my sweet old guy received numerous pets, hugs, and kisses. Even in the midst of my uncontrollable tears, Danielle and Amanda had me laughing a few times. They also spoiled my pup with some Hershey's kisses. When the time came, Dr. Sayeed and I sat on the floor with him. He relaxed in my lap on that fluffy blanket. Dr. Sayeed spoke to him so kindly, loved on him, and spoiled him, prior to sedating him. I know my boy drifted off in an atmosphere of warmth, peace and love. I am very grateful. You ladies made a very painful decision a beautiful process. I could never thank you enough. This was my first visit to NorthStar. If I ever experience an emergency with a pup in the future, I know exactly where to go.

I am writing to make you aware of my experience at this facility and with these Veterinarians. Our initial visit to the practice was on 9/6. We met with Dr. Zuendt who presented two options. We could have surgery on our puppy's broken leg, or because of how young he is, we could place a splint on his leg with a good chance of success. At the time we asked him to place odds on it healing with a splint, he told us 70%. We decided to go with the splint and followed Dr. Zuendt's treatment plan, which was to come back weekly to have the split reapplied. We were told further payment would go towards only splint changes but not re evaluation. We came back to the practice on 9/13 and met with Dr. Culbert. This time we were given completely different guidance on the length of time the splint would have to be on along with the success rate. We were taken aback that two vets at the same practice could give us such polar opposite opinions. It was as if the left hand didn't know what the right hand was doing. We not only were charged for the splint change at the time but a re evaluation by this vet. She stated the splint was not placed high enough initially to properly immobilize the bones. We immediately reached out to the office manager, requesting feedback on why we were receiving vastly different opinions. She said she would get back to us and two weeks later, had not done so. Needless to say we no longer had faith in North Star. We decided to get a second opinion elsewhere. We were told the fracture was still unstable and X-Rays showed that the fracture appeared to be worse due to a failure to stabilize the injury. The second opinion told us at onset we could have used an external fixator but at this stage that was no longer a possibility. Again, we were taken aback that neither Vet brought this option up to us. Based on us taking Dr. Zuendt's initial recommendations, the only option was now surgery. If surgery was not performed, our puppy would either experience shortening of the leg and or loss of use. This was very frustrating and concerning for us. How could a reputable Veterinary practice offer us such poor guidance??! Based on our experience and damages caused to our pet, we asked for a full refund for services. We were billed $552.27 for our two visits. After much back and forth email communication, with Joan Fischer the office manager, we were basically told that our puppy's leg was healing and there was no need for surgery. I find this odd since our primary vet and second opinion both stated otherwise. I wish I had avoided going to this office. It caused my dog to be immobile longer. Please go elsewhere or seek a second opinion!

He got me through some REALLY tough times over the past ten years, and honestly I'm not sure how I would have gotten through the pandemic without him. So knowing his time with me was coming to a close, I left it in his hands to tell me when it was time to go. And, unfortunately, that was the day he woke up and his eyes said simply, "Enough." The staff was attentive and kind from the jump. An examination revealed the options, but it was obvious that whatever was happening was quite serious - and I was given a breakdown of potential next steps. Of course with Sid's age, putting him down was also an option, and I already knew this is what we were going with. I did not receive any pressure to run any preliminary tests, procedures, or additional costs. I was simply told what the options were, and provided with an honest opinion of what the outcomes could be. And all options sucked. BUT it was obvious that the people helping me genuinely cared, and it made the heartbreak just a tiny bit easier. I had never had to do this before and I came in with Sid alone, so the vet guided me through what we were doing, what was next, and gave me ample time in between to say goodbye. Again, no real way to make these things less painful, but there was something in the attention and care I was receiving that made me feel like I wasn't going through it alone. The staff was going through it with me. I also received a beautiful card in the mail from them afterwards, hand-signed with a personal message from each - and this small gesture brought such warmth to my heart that I felt I had to share it. Highly recommend this place.

I spent 3+ hours there but it didn't feel like it. I was able to be by his side the entire time, there was hydration and snacks, and I was comfortable. I feel like every nurse checked in with us at least once. Even my cat felt chill enough after a while to curl up and nap in his large cage (they were quite busy and all rooms were taken). As off Feb '25 it was $200 for just the most basic care, for what it's worth, and in our situation it was very much worth it. They sent everything to my usual vet, including recommended follow up testing. Flippin' awesome and so helpful for moving forward after a terrible Sunday!

We have an appointment with his vet, I hope he makes it. This hospital could have helped him but they didn't. I told them, when I had brought him there that he was not eating or drinking and he's been very socially distant as well as some other details. They then made us wait for a total of 6 hours. I had to go to the front desk to ask when we were going to be seen and they sent us to the room we were at before and made us wait for at least 2 hours. I then had to leave the room to the front desk again to see what was going on and they then had a nurse come in and say we're next. Waited... waited and waited, before finally taking my suffering cat out of their hospital. Do NOT take your pet here. I can foresee a comment from one of the RBVH's staff saying some cold hearted excuse how they were super busy and for me to call their office or whatever.

My roommate drove us to this location while I was trying to provide CPR. She passed away in the car enroute. Panicked I walked in to get help to possibly revive her or just so I wouldn't have to carry my dead dog. When I got to the front desk they told me simply that there was nothing that would do and that in order to keep guests calm I was to go to their back entrance and a nurse would come and collect the body. When the nurse arrived at the vehicle she was a petite lady upon looking at my 70 pound dog she quickly says "oh she's to big for me I'll need you to carry her in". I bring my dog through the back door in to what appears to be a broom closet. The nurse then grabs a black trash bag and asks me to place my dog in the bag while she held it open. While I'm still holding my deceased dog in a black trash bag she begins clearly clutter from the top of what would be the freezer I would now be placing my dog in. She patted my shoulder and said "sorry you had to do this but you can't stay back here you can back around through the front to decide what do to do with her body". Truly this is most disgusting and traumatizing thing I have EVER had to endure. The lack of professionalism and sympathy deeply disturbs me and it's been 4 years. Below I'll attach a picture of the beautiful soul that I had to place in a trash bag. Who ever oversees this location needs a wake up call immediately and anyone that was working on May 23 2022; you should be ashamed of what you put me through.

The tech took down the info of why I was there and then Dr. Mark came in and started right in with a list of what to say. He doesn't seem to care about what you have to say or ask any questions. I know my dog best, so why not listen and ask questions? While he was going down his list of possible reasons for my dogs problem, the tech took my dog to get his nails clipped... I said to her beforehand that I'm typically able to do it but the last couple times, I clipped a nail too short. Once she brought him back, I could already tell that the nail clipping job was choppy and rough looking, so I checked underneath to see if he bled because one nail was definitely far too short... there were clearly multiple nails that she clipped too short because there was clotting material on quite a few nails. Why didn't she mention this? I left there $200 later with no answers or rather, a bunch of possibilities, and a shampoo to try on my dog. I then noticed blood in the car and assumed that one of the nails she clipped too short opened back up but instead found out at home when I noticed blood on the couch that instead of it being a nail bleeding, that there was a gash right near the nail. She clearly had a hard time with him and I can only imagine how rough they might've been with him to put a gash in his foot. Why didn't she mention any of it to me? I think most people would agree that you want to know that your pet is in good hands. I'm very disappointed and will not be going back to this pet check. I'd recommend the deptford one but maybe Thrive would even be better.
