*WARNING* Stay away from this place! I'm new to the area, and when a brake line broke, I walked down to see if they had time to fix it, he assured me they they could have it done on Thursday(this was Monday)said the tow would be $75. Thursday came with no word, so I called. They gave me a quote of $695. Seemed pretty high, and I let him know. He said that's the worst case scenario, it would probably be less. He gave me no time frame as to when it would be done. Tried to call Friday, only to find their closed Friday, Saturday, Sunday. Stopped in early Monday morning, he gave me some lame excuse, and said tomorrow. Long story short, when I went to pick it up, he wasn't man enough to talk to me, and it was more than his worst case scenario. $705. I'm 64 and not my first rodeo, but this place is the worst! I called for a Quote on an Alignment. They said $90. My Wife got there and they said they made a mistake its $99. Ok annoying but whatever honest mistake. I then get the Bill and it had a charge for Parts. I called and asked what parts and they said oh no parts we had to use break free fluids. I have owned a lot of cars and have had more then one or two Alignments in my time never have been charged for a few squirts of Fluids. On top of that I had just installed new Struts (Reason I needed Alignment) so not like they needed something to break them free that soon after. read more

I went there for a car full inspection, the next day they called and told me the rear brakes are broken and at minimum I need to pay $700+ (including inspection of $119) just to get my car drivable and get out of there. I dont know what they did that made it undrivable when I was able to drive it there easily and I've been having no problem with the brakes. I just find it unfair that I have no choice but to pay more than the inspection just to make it drivable again, when it was drivable pre-inspection. read more

We moved to WATERTOWN a couple years ago and we hadn't really found the right place for oil changes and car repairs. I received a coupon in the mail and decided to try NORTHSIDE for an oil change They did a reasonably priced oil change and did a a complete once over on the car. I also found out something I did know already that I needed tires. They worked with me on finding the right tires for my RAV4 but then encouraged me to go shopping, if I wanted, to look at other shops. I found that they were very competitive, so I went back the next week for tires. NORTHSIDE is very professional and courteous. I felt as someone who is not a car expert, that they wanted me to be happy and that they wanted my long term business. read more

I tried this establishment for the first time. I had won a free oil change in a raffle for Watertown dairy breakfast which raises money for college students studying agriculture. The coupon said free oil change with a standard oil filter. I called to make an appointment and dove there from Fort Atkinson. They entered my information on their computer and I waited 5 minutes while service agent punched things out n on the computer. He went outside and checked my car and came back and said my vehicle required synthetic oil. I handed him my coupon and he said it would not apply to synthetic oil. I offered to pay for the up charge, despite the fact that the coupon made no such distinction. 5 minutes later he determined that synthetic oil would cost an additional $39. I asked for the value of the coupon or cost of a standard oil change. He again couldn't answer, punched computer keys and then said the value of the coupon was about 30. So $69 for an oil change. I took the coupon back. I advised them that car dealership changes my oil and rotates tires for total of $39. They are not competitive. He didn't care. I ran into a service worker outside told him my story and shared my disappointment. I also commented about the fact the business has no prices posted and it shouldn't be so difficult to share prices with customers. He offered to tell the owner and said "he'll make it right." Owner called while on my way home and again early the next morning. I shared my experience and he thanked me for the feedback but didn't hear no r the coupon. He also stated that the upcharge should have been $20 for synthetic oil. So I was being overcharged $19. He apologized for my inconvenience. He made nothing right. So, run from Northside Auto. They are dishonest and owner doesn't care. Unfortunately a good cause not for profit went to get a donation from a dishonest business. I'll let them know to stay away from them next year and not sully their reputation. read more

GET A SECOND OPINION before you get any significant work done from this shop. We were told we needed a very expensive air conditioning compressor ($1000+). Instead of jumping right on it, my husband took same vehicle to a local small shop who tested air conditioner under pressure and low & behold it was fine. This would have been even less suspect if it had not been that the customer before & after my husband also just so happened to need new compressors according to this shop. Will never trust again. This happened months ago and car is still working great. read more

My husband always takes care of our needs, and does work himself. But sometimes he just does not have the time, or something he doesn't have the right tools for. Overspent on a fix that I did not approve. Quoted one price but left it "open-ended" for them to fix the noise. Come back to a bill over what was quoted and work done that I did not approve. Contemplating now if the original fix even needed to be done since it didn't fix the noise, so they said. Therefore, they felt the need to do something else quick to "fix" it so I didn't know the difference. Work that my boyfriend could have easily done at home. I had another mechanic look over all my past bills too, just for him to tell me that I've been screwed over for years. Nickled and dimed to the max. Thanks guys! read more

Northside Auto did a terrible job on our car. After they said it was supposedly "fixed" had major problems afterwards. Its really scary that this shop is part of AAA! It makes me re-think my membership with AAA if these are the types of mechanics they choose! After the second time for them to get it right, still were issues. So we took it to the dealership and had them do an inspection, there were major missing components that were serious. We had tie rods, ball joints, shocks and struts done plus tires and an alignment. They chose cheap parts and charged us almost 50% markup on them. I do not recommend you even ask them anything about a car. Don't make the mistake we did. Remember your family's life and safety is at risk. I take back anything good I said about them. It's been since September that they did the original work and we're STILL dealing with the BS. I was very lucky Northside could bring my car in on short notice. I was traveling and had a coolant issue pop up. I was able to immediately bring my car in to the shop. The owner was upfront and honest with estimate (very reasonable) and they covered all the bases and then some to make sure my vehicle was repaired and ready to go quickly. I was exceedingly pleased with the excellent customer service and genuine helpfulness if the staff. I will definitely return if in the area again. read more

They wanted to charge me $110 to diagnose the problem even though I told them what needed to be fix. So they wanted money for them to tell me what I just told them. They wouldn't touch my vehicle unless they got the $110. Called 4 other garages in town n asked for a price n got one and not a one wanted $110 to diagnose it. So this place is a rip off shop around before going to this place. Found a place it cost me $100 to fix it so I saved 100s from not going to northside auto. read more

I truly appreciated that they got me in to check out my car immediately. Butttt they hounded me afterwards with calls and emails which I didn't care for. Service was somewhat pricey for what was done and for whatever reason both my headlights were blown after service. read more

I would give a rating of zero. Had a over priced repair done here at Northside auto 2 months ago. When our car had problems out of town and we took it to a reputable VW dealer they found that the previous repair to have been poorly done. We had to have the job completely done over. At our cost. When we asked to be compensated for the second repair John Mason owner of Northside auto scoffed at us saying if we couldn't bring the bad parts in he wasn't responsible for the cost. Nowhere in the paper work does it say we had to bring the bad (parts) in. A letter from Hall Volkswagen, pictures as well as emails stating shoddy workmanship at Northside auto meant nothing. John Mason owner laughed at me a female as though I knew nothing. Saying I didn't notify him the car had broken down. Considering we thought it was repaired and was not expecting the previous repair to be a problem we did not call Northside auto on Friday November 25th when it broke down. The business is after all closed every Friday. It wasn't until the following Monday and Tuesday that we had true knowledge of all that was wrong with our car. John Mason sneered and laughed at us we are currently out $1042.00. That large sum of money is nothing to be laughed at. read more
