They can't fix an elevator or clean the hallways but they sure can tow your car. Amenities are rarely available.

Lark Northgate - The giant trash heap left from move-in. This was taken on the first day of fall classes.

Totally dog friendly and love our pets! They even have a weekly contest where they pick one dog as Dog of the Week and if you're picked, you can win prizes! They have dog treats in the office always! There's several patches of grass all around the building. There are also free dog bags and several trash cans so you can pick up after your dog. The price is awesome compared to similar complexes. And I love the pool and gym! Plus the staff is awesome! The WiFi is also super reliable and fast!

Santonio and Brianna run this place like they have no idea what they are doing and every interaction I've had with them has confirmed that. They are unresponsive, unhelpful, and when you do finally get a response it's dismissive and tone deaf. They removed trash bins from our doors with absolutely zero notice and then had the audacity to charge residents for a trash violation because we didn't know what to do without them. When I raised the issue, instead of taking accountability they hid behind policy emails and acted like the communication breakdown was my fault. Five dollars isn't the point. The point is they don't care about their residents. On top of that they consistently lose packages. This has been an ongoing issue that management has done nothing to fix. You are paying good money to live here and can't even trust that your deliveries will make it to you. The apartments themselves do not live up to what they sell you on. They will smile in your face during the tour and tell you everything you want to hear and the reality of living here is a completely different story. I genuinely believe I could do a better job managing this place on my own. Save yourself the headache and find somewhere else to live. You have been warned.

Several complaints: 1. Before we moved in the hot water…read moreheater flooded the closet and bedroom closet floor. Had to have them air out the floor for a few days before we could move our things into the closet. 2. We were without hot water for three weeks as they kept resetting the hot water heater, but it would turn off within hours. It took 3 weeks to replace the water heater. My daughter took cold showers for that time period. 3. We had an ant problem and reported it and after nothing was done, I had to fix the problem myself even when we pay a pest control fee. 4. The complex advertises gated community however the gate is open 24 hours and there is no code. The back end of the property is open from the Target parking lot. False advertisement. This has been an issue as my daughter has reported several occasions of seeing dumpster divers on the property. Her friend was visiting and parked in the visitor section as policy states and had his car broken into. 5. We pay for covered parking and always park in designated spots. The one time she parked in front of her apartment, not in her spot for a few minutes while she loaded her car to leave out of town, knowing no one was using that spot at the moment, she almost gets towed. The towing company was willing to drop the car and waive the fee as she immediately was on site and had a parking sticker, however the apartment office staff was unwilling to help out and verify that she was legit. A little common courtesy and kindness is not too much to ask for. This complex does not care about the well-being and safety of its community, especially college students.

During their stay someone tried to break into their apartment, one of their bikes got stolen, the apartment complex towed one of their cars which had the permit and was parked in their designated spot. They refused to reimburse me the $300 to get the car back. Then to add insult to injury they charged my son and separately charged my nephew for the same "damages" or "clean up" after they moved out. When they moved in the apartment was a dump and the AC could never keep up. We put in a better microwave and had a cleaning service clean the apartment weekly. When we left, we left it spotless. We "donated" the microwave to the unit in addition to one that was there. See photos. It was WAY better when we left than when they moved in. I'm hesitant to add these photos because it makes the dump that this apartment complex is look good. Even with this between my son and his cousin they charged $600 of BS stuff including mostly double charges. They threatened to damage credit if not immediately paid. If I could give zero stars I would. Do not walk - run away from this hell hole.

When you move in, take photos of EVERYTHING because they will charge you for a spot on the wall (they will provide paint to touch it up (yes, you have to touch up all the walls- then charge you for the spot that you touched up with their paint). They do absolutely no cleaning and they make no allowance for wear and tear. You have to clean everything. They literally will charge you for a scratch (that was there when we moved in). They charged me for a cleaned toilet that had collected dirt in the month the house sat empty. Even after you clean, they will charge you for the corner you missed to the tune of $300. PLUS you have to pay to move out, a fee of $40.00. It is a scam. They don't disclose fees and take advantage of college students. They should disclose the charges and it may be easier just to walk away and not deal with their scamming.

Management went from truly caring about residents to finding new and creative ways to squeeze money out of them. When they ran out of ideas for new charges, they cut back on services. For instance, the pool was almost always closed, the dog park was never maintained, the door to the clubhouse was always broken, treadmills in the gym never worked, etc. Management also became increasingly bad at communicating with residents. They'll tell you one thing one day and something completely different the next. They'll claim they sent information but it will never arrive. They'll change procedures and policies without telling you. They'll promise you things to get you to renew your lease and then not follow through. If you are unlucky enough to find yourself there, do not have any communication with management that isn't recorded, and absolutely don't trust that their resident portal will accurately keep your records. Record absolutely every interaction, even if it's just to say hello! Edit: Gotta love the insincerity in The Zone's response below. They had years to address my concerns, and they've had months since I moved out to set things right. But, sure, I'm going to give them yet another chance. Like I said, record EVERYTHING if you live there.

Her negative reviews are only as a result of getting zero communication from Berkeley House through the proper channels during the lease term. Please let me start by sharing that I don't ever like leaving a negative review as I know we all have a bad day that we need grace extended for. BUT with the lies and false accusations made towards a roommate's review, I feel I am left with no choice but to protect THEIR character, corroborate her story, and place the blame where it truly lies. MOLD is an absolute issue at this property. When, in the other review, the staff - specifically April Searcey - wants to claim they were not aware of the issue during the lease, she is sadly boldface lying in written form. As she wants to lie in public on the web, we can respond with written proof where they were made aware of the issue during the lease term (ended July 21...you'll see pic July 21 where e-mail is asking me if I would like to follow up as my three e-mails had not been responded to). Couch pic and decor pic July 1. With everything we would report within our time there, they always want to point the finger back at you versus accepting responsibility. As the parent, I was there when the maintenance guy came in and was dumbfounded by the mold growing everywhere and clueless how to resolve it that he was even taking pictures and sending them to his supervisor. It was when my husband, who has owned a commercial construction company, arrived and could immediately point out where the issue was and that it was a leak in the ceiling. They just repaired the Sheetrock but did NOT repair the leak. So within a couple of days, the Sheetrock was wet again (pic attached). I sent daily pictures and e-mails after the "repair," during the lease term, with NO RESPONSE from management. They took out the moldy couch and just placed another couch in there KNOWING the leak was still active. With zero response from them and me really just caring for the next set of teenagers to live there being exposed to this, I called the City for some type of accountability. Our girls had a horrid cough and the third roommate was like, "I did notice I was having to use my inhaler a whole lot more." So, with all the mold that was seen, there is so much more behind the walls unseen. They know at some point in the year there was an issue with water and they had fans in hallways and such to dry it all out and one tenant kept turning off the fan/blowers because she didn't like the noise they made. We know that because they made that troublemaker move in with our girls temporarily to try to get her to stop turning off the fans on her upper floor. Supposedly a mold truck was there in their parking lot the other day. Prayerfully they are getting to the root of the issue before others move in. I would just strongly suggest you walk into this property, or any property managed by April Searcey, with your eyes WIDE OPEN. She's a great sales lady and a master with words - it's the lack of authenticity to them that is brought into question by her actions or truly lack thereof. There are many other things that I wasn't a fan of, but it doesn't put your health in extreme jeopardy like the above does. No place is going to be perfect, but you can certainly choose to stay away from dangerous ones. And cleanliness was not an issue on our girls' part. One is OCD, the other just stays on top of it, AND I had a professional cleaner come in throughout their time there to do deep cleaning for them as well.
