I love living here! As a first time college student this is the perfect place to live! It is located in the historic district and about a 15 minute walk to Kyle field! It's a small apartment complex with great amenities like study rooms, a club house, an Amazon hub, resort style pool (great for tanning) and an amazing gym that I love! Maintenance is great here, anytime I have an issue with my unit (like light bulb gone out and smoke alarm battery replacement) they usually fix it the day of. Parking rules are strict so you do have to park in your designated area, guest parking is limited but you can always parallel park on Luther street. I would 100% recommend this complex. read more

This is in response to Kristi M.'s review and Student Q falsely claiming maintenance was not made aware. Her negative reviews are only as a result of getting zero communication from Berkeley House through the proper channels during the lease term. Please let me start by sharing that I don't ever like leaving a negative review as I know we all have a bad day that we need grace extended for. BUT with the lies and false accusations made towards a roommate's review, I feel I am left with no choice but to protect THEIR character, corroborate her story, and place the blame where it truly lies. MOLD is an absolute issue at this property. When, in the other review, the staff - specifically April Searcey - wants to claim they were not aware of the issue during the lease, she is sadly boldface lying in written form. As she wants to lie in public on the web, we can respond with written proof where they were made aware of the issue during the lease term (ended July 21...you'll see pic July 21 where e-mail is asking me if I would like to follow up as my three e-mails had not been responded to). Couch pic and decor pic July 1. With everything we would report within our time there, they always want to point the finger back at you versus accepting responsibility. As the parent, I was there when the maintenance guy came in and was dumbfounded by the mold growing everywhere and clueless how to resolve it that he was even taking pictures and sending them to his supervisor. It was when my husband, who has owned a commercial construction company, arrived and could immediately point out where the issue was and that it was a leak in the ceiling. They just repaired the Sheetrock but did NOT repair the leak. So within a couple of days, the Sheetrock was wet again (pic attached). I sent daily pictures and e-mails after the "repair," during the lease term, with NO RESPONSE from management. They took out the moldy couch and just placed another couch in there KNOWING the leak was still active. With zero response from them and me really just caring for the next set of teenagers to live there being exposed to this, I called the City for some type of accountability. Our girls had a horrid cough and the third roommate was like, "I did notice I was having to use my inhaler a whole lot more." So, with all the mold that was seen, there is so much more behind the walls unseen. They know at some point in the year there was an issue with water and they had fans in hallways and such to dry it all out and one tenant kept turning off the fan/blowers because she didn't like the noise they made. We know that because they made that troublemaker move in with our girls temporarily to try to get her to stop turning off the fans on her upper floor. Supposedly a mold truck was there in their parking lot the other day. Prayerfully they are getting to the root of the issue before others move in. I would just strongly suggest you walk into this property, or any property managed by April Searcey, with your eyes WIDE OPEN. She's a great sales lady and a master with words - it's the lack of authenticity to them that is brought into question by her actions or truly lack thereof. There are many other things that I wasn't a fan of, but it doesn't put your health in extreme jeopardy like the above does. No place is going to be perfect, but you can certainly choose to stay away from dangerous ones. And cleanliness was not an issue on our girls' part. One is OCD, the other just stays on top of it, AND I had a professional cleaner come in throughout their time there to do deep cleaning for them as well. read more

Berkley House might be a fine place to live, BUT BEWARE OF THE TOWING POLICY!!! Towing is $332.22, so be prepared to pay a hefty fine! Even as a resident with a permit sticker you can be towed from the garage if in a visitor space. Note there are signs in the garage warning permit parking only, yet even with a permit you will be towed if in a visitor parking space. This is crazy, poorly communicated and unfortunate service by Berkley House. After talking with Berkley House and explaining the confusion created by the signs in the garage their response was to send an email to tenants reminding them - great, very helpful. I am yet to move in so I am hopeful my experience will improve as the property is very pretty. I am in Greek life and DO NOT reccomend living here if you are. You pay rent for the entire month of August but they will not accommodate a early move in prior to August 16, if you do have the luxury of them allowing you to move in early you then have to pay $250 for that early move in on top of the whole month's worth of rent and another move in fee of $150. The rent price may be cheap but this is where they will get you. I have been trying to get in contact with management as well, there are multiple phone numbers posted online none of which are regular answered. read more

the move out is NOT worth the easy move in, they will charge for everything and ANYTHING they can possibly find, including things that were already there when you moved in. the charges are completely ridiculous. I would not recommend living here is you "have too much stuff" or are just coming from an unfurnished place to a furnished place. They charge 85% of rent if you aren't off the premises BY NOON on your move out date. I'll never recommend this place. The bad massively outweighs the pros. read more

I would give this place 0 stars if I could and would recommend ever living here. The Wi-Fi does not work at all unless it is perfectly sunny outside and the property manager does nothing about it. If you would like to have a stable internet connection to succeed in school I would highly recommend finding somewhere else to live. read more

I am sincerely disappointed in this complex and its management. This is my third year here and it seems like it is just one problem after the next. The property manager has been extremely dismissive to me over the years when I have expressed concerns and down right rude at times. It has been made clear that my safety and the safety of Berkeley House residents is NOT a priority for management on numerous occasions. I have a serious cat allergy that management has been aware of since day one, yet they allowed my roommate to bring a cat into my apartment. This has caused extreme issues for me and I do not feel safe in my own home anymore. After having expressed this to management, I was dismissed and told that I had to prove I'm allergic with a doctors note. This is an absolute slap in the face to someone who has been loyal to this complex for years. Needless to say, I will not be coming back and I plan to tell everyone I know NOT to live at the Berkeley House. read more

Do not use this place, they will nickel & dime you for everything. This complex is right next to railroad tracks, KEEP THIS IN MIND as it gets loud! My daughter lived her for 2 years and the move out regulations are insane. You will NEVER get your security deposit back no matter what you do. You will be held responsible for any suitemates actions so BEWARE! One roommate hung a chalk board on the kitchen wall and did not patch the holes and all 4 roommates were charged at move out a ridiculous amount of money to patch 4 holes. My daughter hung pictures in her room that per the checklist provided at move in was completely allowed. No hole was bigger than a push pin and we patched every hole per the move out guidelines. Berkeley went back and charged for a full paint job due to patching the holes and it not matching the paint color exactly. The first year my daughter lived here, no processing fees were charged when paying rent. The following year they sold to a new management company and every time you pay your rent they will charge you anywhere from $4-7 on top of rent regardless if you use a bank/debit/CC. The management staff is rude and super slow to respond to any issue you have. read more

I want to move immediately after the b.s they have pulled with parking. I had never had a problem with parking until recently when they have enforced a very specific parking policy or else your towed. Surface parking is not even free... you have to pay to have your car here when you are a resident. I would understand for the garage, but concrete at your own complex... we can definitely tell by now that the management is money suckers. Now that this is enforced, there is no parking whatsoever. I will never live here again and so they can stop bugging me about renewing my lease. Also, they say that you get discounts, yet my rent is higher than ever. A HOUSE is cheaper than this place if that says the least. P.S the wifi sucks and they told me that I need to call the wifi service myself to fix this. read more

I decided to change my review only because all the previous things I mentioned are no longer an issue. The only thing I would recommend is to read your lease very carefully. I would not recommend asking any questions regarding the lease to any of the student workers. The reason why is because my sisters and I had questions that were answered wrong. It just lead to a lot of confusion and problems with the leasing office. It's just not worth the stress. I'm still disappointed at the fact that I was lied about getting a $599 gift card when signing my lease in November 2018 for the 2019-2020 school year. I'm a first generation college student and signing leases is a new thing for me. I relied on the information the student workers would give you just because I was not familiarized with legal terms but it was not accurate whatsoever. I did not understand the legal terms of the lease at 19 years old. We were promised multiple times that we were going to receive a $599 gift card if we signed but we only received a $200 concession. The gift card is taxed with all these fees. When they say they're giving you a $300+ giftcard don't believe them because they have a security deposit, application fee, and other fees that will lower your gift card amount. Don't let them pressure you into signing a lease because at the end of the day it's a business and once they get your signature you are binded to a legal document. These student workers will get commision so take your time in finding a home for the year. There are many other affordable apartments with transportation available since this place is nowhere near walking distance. If you have any questions I would ask to speak to the manager since she is fully knowledgeable and will give you accurate answers. Tip: Don't let the tour and free events/items fool you into thinking this is the best place. (Tour Berkeley, go home, and really think about it) I signed a lease immediately after touring and I instantly regretted doing so but the place itself is not too bad. read more

Ok, I am not a resident of the Berkley House, but I am a resident of the South Side District where these apartments are located. I have a couple of good friends who stay at the Berkley House and some who stay next door to them. Just to give you a few pointers here, the South Side District is one of College Stations' oldest neighborhoods. It was formally owned by TAMU almost 50 years ago. I was shocked to learn that there were residents next door to the Berkley House that are stealing bikes. This neighborhood experiences a ton of bike thieves, some of them are actually students and some of them are young local residents of this area. I have no idea why surveyors decided to build an apartment in a closed and confined area. That spot has a history behind it, you can google it. Now, future residents, please keep in mind that you aware of the proper protocol of leaving valuables inside your car and securing you bikes in places! Regardless of where you go: Hide, Take, Lock is the proper protocol on leaving your car in a parking garage. Lock you bike with a combination lock bike chain. There may be other apartments in Cstat that are better than the Berkley House, but I ask that when moving there, be flexible! Love others for who they are by character, not by skin color! Btw, this is not management attempting to add more stars on this app, this is a concerned resident of the area! PS. Those apartments were built pretty fast and seemed as if they were rushed because of the following school year approaching. Judging by some of the other reviews, it makes sense now. Don't let the sketchyness of the area dictate your stay at the Berkley House, its not a bad place as most places I know, and trust me, im from Dallas, I know hoods lol read more

This property is everything I could have wanted for my first apartment as a student. The amenities, like the pool, make the hot weather bearable. On top of the amenities my actual apartment is beautiful! It is so spacious allowing my roommates and I not to feel so cramped. DO NOT sign with these people. They will try to find an excuse to charge you for absolutely ANYTHING. They take the longest time to send out the "gift cards" they promise, but will hit you with a $210 fee for signing a new lease for another unit (the change wasn't even in the middle of our current lease, was after it ended, which makes absolutely no sense, we could have gone to another building to sign a lease). You get charged $20 for parking and $10 if you have a top floor unit. Management is absolutely terrible. When you go to speak with them, they will give you a bs smile and send you off with a lie. They are probably the most incompetent leasing managers that I have ever encountered. They promised so many things and did nothing. "Security guard" is always on his phone INSIDE the office with no monitors or anything, so efficient. People have gotten their cars broken into and these people don't even have the audacity to send out an email to tell everyone that they will improve their security (which would probably be another lie). Front desk workers are really good people, but have incompetent people as their managers. The walls are paper thin, you hear every single car, person, and train that passes by. The property is absolutely sloppy. The gates may or may not be working, and they never lock, so what's the point of having gates? The gym is terrible. Most of the machines never work. They have one trash area (on each floor) in the whole entire building, so good luck walking a 5k if you're placed in the other side of the building. If you're placed in a floor other than the top, congrats, you'll know the location of your upstairs neighbor in the apartment at all times. The coffee machine they love to brag about so much only works while the office is opened, so starting at 9am, as if people don't wake up and have things to do before that time. Printer? forget about it, never works. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT SIGN HERE. read more
