HELP NORTHPOINT Northpoint is ignoring maintness requests that I've posted over and over over for months. We pay our rent on the 1st each month. I would like the maintenance cost built into our rent paid back to us. We are paying an amenitie we cannot use. I'm so upset Our pool is green. I mean really really green, stagnant, you cannot even see the bottom of the pool, breeding mosquitoes,pump is clogged, as a result the vacuum won't work, we have green algea and black alge on the tile, Needs to be backwashed etc ya know maintenance. This has been going on for 2 years. When we moved in they had a pool company taking care of it. Now we are sent people who don't know pool maintenance at all. If they send someone at all. I live in Arizona and our summer months are hot. We'd like to use the pool. I can't get over the zero communication thing. Does anybody have a phone number they will answer? Or maybe a good lawyer? We hired Northpoint Asset Management - Atlanta, GA to manage our rental property and suffered significant financial loss because of their negligence and lack of oversight. Northpoint never verified the tenant's identity or employment. The person who moved in used a fake name and fraudulent income documents and, as we later discovered, had a criminal background. Despite this, Northpoint charged us a tenant-placement fee and has refused to reimburse it. The tenant never paid a single month's rent, left trash that triggered weekly HOA fines, and caused major interior damage. Northpoint offered no assistance with recovery of those costs. When the tenant abandoned the home, Northpoint continued charging us monthly management fees even though no property manager was assigned and no one checked the house. We eventually discovered--on our own--that the property had been empty for 3-4 months with the lights and AC running full time. Northpoint had billed us late fees for rent the tenant never paid! We only discovered these charges after carefully reviewing our account and had to demand a refund. We later learned the assigned manager had been fired months earlier, but the company accepted no responsibility for the gross mismanagement. They also withheld part of our security deposit for unexplained expenses. Reading other complaints on this page and on other review sites shows that our experience is not unique but part of a troubling pattern of this property management company. Because of Northpoint's failures, we lost thousands of dollars in unpaid rent, HOA penalties, repairs, and unnecessary utility bills. NO STARS! My family and I recently broke our lease and moved out a house in Alandale Place 85710 due to a mouse infestation. This was not the only issue with Northpoint Asset Management, Deborah Davis, Anne Willey, Erika Harding, and owners Jacqueline "Jackie", Jose "Joey", and Amanda Garcia. The house and yard were dirty when I moved in. There were several repairs needed but I didn't know the extent. Some repairs were to be completed before move in, the house was to be cleaned, the yard was to be cleaned and weeds removed. Nothing was done when I met Deborah to get the keys. She said, "oh how embarrassing. I didn't have a chance to clean. But you said you were anal anyways so I figured why clean twice." They lied on the lease by noting the house was built after 1978 but it was built in 1959. They did not provide the lead bases paint reports or information required by AZ law. They left peeling paint and rust in the master bathroom medicine cabinet and refused to repair it. There was paint, stucco, and brick missing from the outside of the walls. When they prepared the house to remove paint and repaint we were unaware the house was built before 1978. Nothing was done to protect me or my family from any dust or debris that came off the walls and left there. We had no privacy, specifically me. The master bedroom has sliding glass doors that lead to the backyard, so if someone is standing within 1-10 feet from the door they can see in. Northpoint and the Garcia's would send workers or come themselves without notice. The excuse was, "they didn't need access to the home" "what's the big deal" "why are you complaining about repairs". When I'm in my room in a house I'm paying rent for, walk out of my bathroom after a shower, to my room, naked to get dressed, and there's someone at the sliding glass door of my bedroom looking in, taking pictures, "inspecting", or painting it's a scary situation. One early morning 2 men broke through the gate and were in the backyard I was scared and called the police. Turns out the owners and Northpoint sent them to inspect the paint job (for a 4th time). Told them to get in the backyard no matter what. It was a violation of my privacy. Not knowing when someone would be at my bedroom door or bathroom window staring in. There are several holes and I asked they be repaired several times that we would have insects and rodents. All summer we lived with bugs. November the mice came. Deborah yelled in my face that I should have "put a sock in it" (the hole) to prevent mice. First she said it was my fault for not having a washer and dryer. Just one of many discriminating comments made by her. According to Northpoint Asset, Deborah Davis, Anne Wiley, Erika Harding, Jacqueline Garcia, Jose Garcia, and Amanda Garcia Kirwan everyone has mice and everyone has insects. Before renting from this company or people, please call the City of Tucson Code Enforcement to see if they inspected the house to determine if this is a slum property. They are slum lords, liars, and scam artists. This was one of the worst experiences I've had. We also had to beg for them to repair the evaporative cooler. They refused to turn it on until late June. They sent someone the same day Code Enforcement was coming. This was late June! Twice we didn't have heat. I have serval pictures, emails, videos, recordings. Please review and reconsider renting from them or utilizing their services. They lied to me several times and lied about me. When I brought issues to their attention I was met with defensiveness and nothing was their fault or they didn't know or it was my fault somehow. Their actions and behavior were abusive and cruel. My family is now displaced due to their refusal to repair. I will never rent again due to this experience. The only truth Deborah Davis told me was that she loves wine, cocaine, and Trump. Northpoint Asset Management is terrible. We had a newly renovated house for rent. They put tenants in our house and the tenants tried to tear it to pieces. They refused to ask the tenants to repair anything that they broke. We kept having to repair things every few weeks at our own expense. Then the tenants refused to pay their rent. The tenants had busted up more stuff and felt the contractors were going too slow with repairs. Then Northpoint agreed that this was a good reason for the tenants not to pay. I feel that Northpoint wants to frustrate the home owner so they will able to buy our home eventually. Their business is obviously not asset management for others. They must be managing their own assets. They clearly have a conflict of interest and are Not trustworthly. They also price gouge through repairs with their contractors. What day, what time. Two days ago they did it again. Once I filed a complaint with the BBB and attorney general things got worse and remain so. They are now refusing to fix anything in the house. All the things on the move in list and we discussed they are refusing to fix. There are gaps in doors and windows. Screens are ripped. We have bugs coming in everyday. There are holes on the outside wall. They never came back and removed the weeds or trash. I did! Here are the texts from this week. They aggressively jump to accusations before asking what happened. Again, why are they speaking to me this way of he didn't need access? Turns out he did meds access. He made the appt with the owner over a week ago and told he needs pictures of the appliances and breaker box. But they didn't tell me, then they said I turned him away, then said he doesn't need access. This is not the first time they have pulled stunts r like this. It's harassment. They have lied to me. Lies about me and attacked my character in several occasions. I would not deal with any of these people personally or professionally. Her text only to confirm I received it, I thumbs up/ok. Why doesn't she know who is coming out? They are the Property Managers! The only conclusion is they are racist. The constant harassment for no reason. I pay rent, I follow the lease. I maintain the house and yard. The yard is weed free because of me. From assigning 3 people to manage my property within a 2 month period, all of whom did not do their job, or did not respond, or promised things that were never done, right through to shouting at me when I complained! Upon meeting Angela Sherrer at my house for property management, I was very excited to have her as my property manager. I told her I wanted to wait to have her manage my house until after I had a window replaced. She convinced me to allow her to manage it immediately, and she assured me she would oversee the installation for me. However, when it was time for the window install, she wanted to allow the tenants to oversee it. So, if the window wasn't installed correctly or if it had any imperfections, scratches or issues, the tenants were being forced to be responsible for catching this. This made me extremely upset to say the least. When I reminded Angela that she said she would oversee the install, she still refused to either have her or one of her maintenance people there. I contacted her manager about this but was ignored. Next thing you know, Angela says she is ending management with me after only 3 months. I then contacted North Points board members by email to let them know how poorly Angela had treated me and how she over promised and under delivered, but I was once again ignored. I had previously made a positive review of how Northpoint handled our rental home while we were in another state. Now I have an update. This is a negative review to make amends for perhaps encouraging people to trust Northpoint with their rentals. Once we got to Texas we wanted to live in our former rental. The place was in terrible condition. The renters had created so much damage I cried. No one had oversaw things. I asked to have it all repaired but had a terrible time getting Northpoint to send a repair guy/painter. I had to ask over several months. Nothing much got done with repairs, so I did it myself. Later, Northpoint attempted to get even more money out of us for The few overpriced repairs that did get done. We said "NO". We kept getting bills from them which we ignored. It was so awful. My property manager does not respond to my maintenance request in a timely manner. He literally does not check to see if service calls have been addressed. I paid an additional $35 a month for maintenance and never so much as received the air filters that are supposed to be sent via mail. I began my second lease term and received one air filter for my two ac filters. The maintenance request still have not been addressed to date. I love the property that I live in just don't like the lack of maintenance and the response time. As well maintenance request have to be approved by the owner so I take it my property manager is not submitting the maintenance request. If I pay $35 for maintenance upkeep I expect to have all maintenance issues taken care of in a timely manner. Period read more

If I could give my previous property manager, Misty Anderson, a rating, it would be 0 out of 5. When we moved in, there was junk everywhere, the house wasn't cleaned AT ALL and there was left over furniture and items from the previous tenants. It was very obvious that no one had done a walk thru. A year into our lease, Misty was almost non-responsive to maintenance requests (specifically one's that were important to our safety and health) and didn't answer emails for weeks and almost always required at least ONE follow up email to finally get a response. It was almost as if she didn't care about our property. Throughout the lease, we mentioned mold in the house but was told if we hire someone to check the mold, then they'd come in and fix it; however, hiring someone to check for mold was a couple hundred dollars. This mold grew after a flood happened in the basement a few weeks into our lease but wasn't properly contained or cleaned. In the middle of the lease, a roommate moved out so we reached out to her to get information on how to go about that. She said the new tenant needed to apply via an application.. an application that took over a month to send. When it was finally signed, the new roommate moved in and Misty was informed that she moved in but we weren't sure if there was any more information needed considering we hadn't hear anything back. No response. After we realized that they weren't going to do anything about the mold situation, we all decided we didn't want to live there anymore. However, Misty never sent over a new lease for any of us to resign after our original year lease. This meant in the state of Colorado that legally we were month to month. We sent Misty an email stating our concerns about the mold and she gave us a 30 day notice just to save herself because she knew she messed up by not having us resign a lease. I went to the house this week because I accidentally sent a package over to that house and met the new, sweet tenants. They informed me that she's also almost non-responsive to them, the move in was dirty and that she's impossible to get work orders completed. THIS PROPERTY MANAGER IS EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL. We got charged an arm and a leg at move out and she was unable to provide the price break down, even though asked multiple times. Do yourself a favor and do not work with her!! read more

Withheld security deposit to prep home for sale at end of lease. I rented a home from this company for 2 yrs and during that time, the homeowner was a great help and addressed any needs quickly. The homeowner had been in the house on multiple occasions during our lease and did not indicate any issues with the condition of the home. Rent was paid on time during the whole duration of the tenancy. Unfortunately, Property Mgr, Tina Stott, was not helpful despite our proactive communication. Midway through our lease, Tina sent a man (stranger) to our home to compile a list of issues to be fixed yet nothing was addressed. Instead, this stranger gained access to our home and learned the whole layout and security measures. Upon move out, we repaired the nail/tack holes we put in the walls, with the paint they left in the basement. Unfortunately, the paint was the wrong sheen and we did not know this and were charged for it. Additionally, there was some paint on the exterior of the home that needed to be fixed, due to our error, from a screen we had up. The homeowner even said he needed one for his other home, but did not indicate it wasn't approved. The company also argued the home was supposed to be professionally cleaned, but in our lease, the carpet was the only required professional service. We thoroughly cleaned the home but were charged $515 for a move-out clean. There was a stain in the carpet to be repaired and we were charged $400 to replace it despite the quote being $45 per sq ft. They charged us $50 for a torn screen that was damaged before we moved in and they said they would fix and didn't. We spent 2 days cleaning the home to the best of our ability and even returned to the home about a week after our lease ended to clean up the yard after the many inches of snow melted. Kelli Johnson wrote that that she intended to "exceed expectations" when she was first assigned to me. One of the most overpromised and underdelivered pronouncements I've experienced. The accounting was messed up, and Kelli was in turn slow to respond (took more than a month to sort through things). I had to get upper management involved. Kelli of course blamed things on the fact that she 'inherited' the problems. Be that as it may, it should not take over a month to get me answers. It doesn't go towards "exceeding expectations" to force the client to be a squeaky wheel to get attention. Last month Kelli then abruptly ended our relationship because I told her I wanted to use a rent collecting service that reports to the credit bureaus. I was surprised because I thought that this would facilitate tenant management as it helps to keep tenants accountable. Nope. She was all too eager to interpret that, just because I wanted to use a rental collecting service, I wanted to end our relationship. Didn't bother explaining that Northpoint's contract is contingent upon Northpoint also collected rent. Just decided that what I wanted wasn't a 'fit' without checking with me if I really wanted to terminate. The kicker is that Kelli waited the better part of the week to drop both me and my tenant on our heads. She knew I was in the area the week before and I could have found another property manager if I'd known she'd be so irresponsible. Now I have to do this from five states away. Do I think she cares? No. As it turned out, neither of us can get info for the tenant needed to participate in rental reporting. So we were back to where we started. I then proposed to Northpoint of reverting management to where they were before I made my proposal to use a rent reporting service. Northpoint management then said Kelli already dropped me and it's up to whether Kelli would 'take me back' even though there was no valid reason other than whether she 'feels like it'. As if I needed to beg for her relationship. Um, yeah. The company exists because landlords like me pays them. In exchange for being paid (and first) it is not unreasonable to expect them to put forth some semblance of management and professionalism. I'm not begging anyone for their good graces if they create drama they could have prevented by being more communicative. I thanked her for her 'work' (managing a good property and good tenant) and moved on. I read the good reviews, and I wanted to like the company. Most good reviews are from tenants so it's a bit misleading regarding their landlord services. Maybe it's not for landlords. They'll take the easy money but when it's time to roll up their sleeves and actually work as they are paid, there's attitude. My account is too small for them to care I suppose. I attempted to extend an olive branch to Kelli even though she was the one who created this drama, and she preferred to nurse her pride over repairing a relationship (according to her supervisor, she was 'hurt' that I'd posted a negative review about her elsewhere in order to get her attention). This is after she insists that she doesn't take things personally and doesn't hold grudges...while working for a company that is supposedly built upon 'relationships and performance'. I consider that I paid $2000+ for attitude in the course of my relationship with them. (Update: Kelli whined to her supervisor about my negative review. She also was quick to whine about how underappreciated she felt. Though I selected NAM because Jenna was so personable and easy going upon meeting her, unfortunately, her level of communication was well under par. This was probably my biggest grief with this company before I ultimately changed agencies (though I did ask for a different property manager while I was sorting out my new company - Daina was great during the interim). Considering the property manager at NAM is a client's one point of contact, it seems extremely important to me that the manager is communicative thought I often had to follow up time and time again for responses. Being a first-time investment property owner, I needed a little extra TLC that I don't feel was given. The following are other brief descriptions of dissatisfied dealings of my property: -The marketing was awful (I had trouble finding my place even when typing the full address, some sites had no pictures, others had no description, sites were used I'd never heard of rather than the most popular forrent.com or apartmentguide.com, etc.). One of the pictures posted included a broom and dustpan sitting in my empty unit that was just being cleaned for move-in. A little detail like that could've been recognized (I'm in school for marketing so perhaps I'm being overly critical but it also took awhile to get my place rented when I was initially told their vacancy rate is less than 2 weeks, even after I dropped down the rent to her suggested rate). -She made side arrangements with tenants to pay late without penalty and without my permission, including a security deposit she never collected in full, per lease terms, and that tenant happened to be in my place for only a few months and cost me plenty of money to repair the unit (including an entire paint job throughout, when it had just been painted by a contractor before that tenant moved in). Per damages listed in the lease agreement, the tenant owed me well over what was collected for the deposit and I was left to collect the balance on my own (that didn't seem fair when the full security deposit was never collected by my property manager). -I was charged $100 for a maintenance tech to flip my breaker switch on when there was an issue with my furnace not long after I signed my contract with NMA (when I explicitly explained she should ask the tenant to check the fuse box first before calling a tech out). This could've been a simple miscommunication from the tenant but I was still frustrated that I was charged that kind of money to flip a switch. -Probably a year after I was under contract with NMA, I inquired why I had been receiving my income so long after NMA received payment from the tenant, and she found then that I was apparently set up incorrectly in the system. I suppose that was my fault for not asking about it sooner, but again, would expect my property manager to ensure my account setup was correct. -The transition of my property to Daina was inadequate (Daina was unaware of any work, warrantied or otherwise, that was arranged through Jenna), and my new management company also had to follow up several times for a response when asking for docs on file. If you are a tenant, I would expect you to love working with Jenna (she seems to do a good job looking out for tenants). But as a client, I was extremely disappointed and felt as though I could've done a much better job managing the property myself. I'm not sure if this is because Jenna is over-extended with her portfolio but, whatever drove the issue, I suffered the consequences. read more

You're Covered by Eviction Protection We have you covered in the event your tenant stops paying their rent or abuses their lease agreement. We know the laws and fastest methods to fix this kind of situation. You'll be in good hands. We Inspect Property Frequently We provide full INTERIOR and EXTERIOR inspections and visit the property as needed throughout the lease agreement to ensure problems are handled as quickly as possible." I contacted and contracted with Northpoint because of these claims. I was having tenant issues and lived in another state. I fully informed Northpoint of the issues. They said they could handle the issues. However, they failed to keep the promises listed above. They did not consistently respond to contacts immediately, nor were they responsive to the concerns I communicated. They were ineffective in dealing with a tenant situation despite the above statements. And the agent claimed she had gone above and beyond and made more visits to our unit than for other units she managed; and that we were not appreciative of her efforts. As noted above, the web site states they inspect property frequently to ensure problems are handled as quickly as possible. This was a serious situation and more visits than normal were needed. I do not consider doing the job you claim you do, and were contracted to do, is going above and beyond. I made it clear to Northpoint upfront what the issues were. I brought Northpoint onboard a month before the lease ended to help ensure my tenant concerns were dealt with. I also asked them to ensure an appraiser could get in the unit as the tenant had not cooperated in getting an appraiser in the unit to do an appraisal. They did get a locksmith to the unit and let the appraiser in. The Northpoint agent was informed that we were not sure the original tenant was in the unit, and that others were living there in violation of the lease. The Northpoint agent went through the unit with our appraiser. It was obvious from the pictures that there was a problem. There was no evidence in the pictures that the original tenant and her belongings were still in the unit. We informed the agent of this. The situation became an eviction situation when we were unable to get communication from the tenant and the occupiers did not move out although notice to quit was given by the agent, and we gave notice via email and text. There was no check done by Northpoint as I requested on the day the lease ended to ensure they were moving out or had moved out. The "tenant" notified me the day after the end of the lease that "she" had not moved out. It was forwarded to the agent. When the agent showed up to check several days after the end of the lease, she verified the occupiers did not move out as directed. The agent did not effectively deal with the people occupying the unit. They had no lease. They were belligerent; and lied about the lease requirements and their presence in the unit. The agent did not verify the presence or lack thereof of the original tenant. I was on the phone listening to the conversation. She was apparently intimidated by the occupiers; and practically apologized to them for questioning that they were living there. She said Northpoint would take action, but Northpoint did nothing. Instead, the agent quit and had my Northpoint account terminated when I indicated that I was concerned with the ways things were being handled. She and Northpoint had no problem leaving me hanging out to dry to resolve the issues Northpoint was hired to manage. I was clearly not in good hands. read more

Horrible Property Management, don''t return calls, don't address maintenance issues, managers voice mail is full, accounting department is horrible, called NP HQ to speak with a director, they would not connect me to a manager other than the manger that isn't addressing the issues. Where do is start. This has been the roughest year of renting I've ever had starting with getting my water turned off every month from previous renters past due. Then the AC being broken for 2 months sending 4 different random ac people over, and it not getting fixed because they only to cared about the yard that wasn't even done when I moved in because the hoa made it a priority. You would think 2 months without AC would rase an alarm but it didn't. Then instead of fixing the sprinklers like the first 2 companies said to do we just got sod installed on top of the system. 2 months later guess what giant water leak now grass looks bad the sprinklers now have to be fixed,but it is our fault. We have done everything we can to make living here the best we can and have rented for the last 5 years never once did we have a problem. And on top of this getting called out too fix screens that were in the same condition as I moved in. This is the tip of the iceberg. read more

Jenna was competent, patient, polite and a problem solver. I highly recommend Jenna as someone who satisfies both landlords and tenants and is a wonderful go -between. I can't understand how they are still in business. PLEASE don't do this to yourself! I was constantly ignored by my property manager and upper management. I was reaching out to them about an issue that I had with the previous tenants vacating the property before time. I got a call from Whitney February 2021. She informed me that the tenants wanted to vacate before the lease ended. I advised that I had already worked with the tenants the past two years by not going up on the rent $100. I advise Whitney that the tenants where still responsible for the remainder of the lease. I called Whitney on April 5th 2021 to inform her that I wasn't able to get a hold of the tenants about clogged toilets. I was informed on the same call that the tenants where vacating the next day. I immediately disputed them leaving before the lease was up. On April 9th 2021 Whitney sent me an email sharing some personal issues she was having and apologizing for her error. There was never a 60 written notice submitted by the tenants. There was a lockbox left on my front door that I had to get cut off. Whitney hung up on me when I tried to get a resolution. I reached out to Headquarters via email with no response. I spoke with Kalinda a few times but still got no response from her about the last lease that the tenants signed. I would like for Northpoint to deliver on everything that was promised on their website. Save yourself the trouble. They over promise and under deliver. PLEASE look elsewhere. You will thank yourself later plus there are other companies who do more and charge less. read more

I have a rental property and I wanted a company to manage it for me. If you have one, do not use Northpoint Asset Management as they found me a renter that cost me nearly $8,000 to clean up the mess and restore the house to a rentable asset again. They said they did a background check on the renter, but I find that hard to believe since he was arrested two weeks before he was due to be evicted. And the house had dog feces everywhere. The carpeting in all the bedrooms has to be replaced and new floors installed. The washer and dryer were ruined and the electricity had been turned off so all the food left in the refrigerator spoiled and rotted until we got in there and cleaned it out. Northpoint was no help since I decided to find new renters on my own and because I didn't let them manage the house they offered nothing - not even the help of their legal team to try and collect the damage fees from the former renter. Good luck getting this company on the phone. They refused to speak with us after we applied for a home online because a misreported eviction popped up on my roommates credit report. It pops up twice because one of them is a removal of the eviction. We also have a letter from the court furthering that it was dismissed and in error. Had someone actually called us to inquire about this information instead of sending us a two sentence denial email (also improper, a formal letter should be sent) we could have explained this. I am sales manager of an apartment complex, have worked in this industry for 5 years myself and have never, nor will ever, treat a prospective resident with such blatant disrespect. Our primary reasons for hiring Northpoint was to alieviate the time we spend on renting our apt and pull the background check. Sara was assigned to us. Unfortunatley she caused us more work and time than if we rented it our selves. She wanted to charge us extra for having to figure out which keys go in which doors (she ended up losing our master set), we always had to initiate the conversations and follow up with her to find out what was going on. We never saw a dime until 4 weeks after our tenant moved in. We asked 4 times to get a copy of the background check. In the end, we just dealt with the Regional Manager, Jenna, who was very helpful and provided the background check, corrected the money issue.Of course we cancelled after 1 month. read more
