Trust me 40-56 mph winds will not do these types of damages where your shingle is rated for 50-60 mph winds and architectural shingles rated for 75+mph winds Im from Texas and have been in the area visiting and have friends here that have told me to take a look at their roofs after these guys from American Home Tech have inspected their roofs. These guys can't even look at me in the face when I'm talking about it on the roof. One of the guys admitted to me and stated that's why he wants to become an adjuster and do right instead of wrong because of their "standards". These are man made creased back shingles!! If they are committing damages to your roof why would you trust them? These contractors are salesman at the end of the day and if theres no work of course they're going to create damage and say your roof is completely damaged because they know you won't get on the roof! Here are the issues: Price !! was ok, but i got another estimate from another roofer and his price was exactly the same but with far better dimensional shingles. Cleanup and Yard Protection !!!! Terrible. When I raised the issue given that we have plants all around our home and need to protect them and our yard, here is what she emailed me -- "When it comes to the mess, it's just part of the process. It's a mess until it's not. Nails and shingles will be everywhere! In this case even more so-with 60,000 nails with 3 layers of roofing" --Becca I investigated another property her company did through a friend who used her and the feedback i received is that lots of plant damage. They would not use her again. She simply says "it is part of the process and if you can't live with that, use someone else" OK her Competition: far superior: ***** he is putting a slide in from the roof to the street, not throwing shingles and nails in the yard, and he is also draping canvas all along the roof and over the plants in case something falls. That is huge difference!!! Net the competition offered the same price, better shingles, and meeting my customer need for getting my shingles and nails off the roof without just pitching all this heavy roof stuff over the edge and onto my grass, and plants!! I have learned two things. Lady on the roof, That girl Roofing, The Roof Girl seem to be popping up and selling based on strong woman run messaging. In this case, they have a story, images of standing on the roof on their websites with a workers belt with hammers and tools hanging off. What I have discovered is that they appear to be just marketers and using subcontractors from Mexico, Guatemalans, and Hondurans to actually do all of the work. It appears that the same crews are being used all over this area by roofing marketers. They collect a major check on each job with the illusion that their employees are doing the work. That they are on the roof with them. It appears many of the roofers are smartly using these crews. That is why I suspect that I got identical bids. The difference that am getting with the choice I made is: higher quality shingles, no mess, with a focus protecting my yard, shrubs and trees around our large two story home I would not know this unless I dug into it the details and some web searching.
