It turned out to be an abnormal…read moremole with the potential to become cancerous, so I've been getting regular check ups on the insistence of my doctor ever since. I go to Terrace Dermatology for a full body skin-check every 6 months, which involves stripping down to your undies, and I've never once felt uncomfortable like I have in other medical situations. My dermatologist is Dr Rowland Noakes, who is very thorough and checks between your toes and behind your ears. If you ask (which I did, because I am a crazy hypochondriac) he can even whip out this neat gadget he attaches to his iPhone4, which takes photos of your moles that he can track the progress of at each consultation. He is also the cheeriest person I have ever met in my goddamn life, which is pretty remarkable considering he must spend a lot of time burning warts off people's feet. The bathrooms here are also wonderfully clean and modern, and there's a good selection of magazines and newspapers while you're waiting. There are also usually free samples of sunscreen, etc, on the counter, but make sure they aren't overdue like mine were. Sad face.

I've been going to one doctor at Everton Plaza Medical Centre all my life. I've been through quite…read morea lot there from injections through to broken bones and a ruptured appendix, and I've always felt like I was taken care of. If you can't get an appointment with your preferred doctor, you can choose a time and see one of the remaining doctors. I've found them all to be professional and courteous, and I wouldn't go anywhere else with my health issues. The receptionist staff are switched on and friendly and there is a collection of doctors to attend to patients seven days a week. I live on the other side of town now but I still won't consider going anywhere else but Everton Plaza Medical Centre. The Centre is conveniently located between shops and within walking distance of public transport. There is also ample parking within the centre.

I immediately noticed a huge difference around my eyes and had several friends comment as to the decrease in the lines around my eyes. I really wasn't expecting that big a difference, but was pleasantly surprised. I can totally recommend the girls, they are friendly and make you feel very comfortable, and were more than happy to answer any queries I had. Annette Lindgren

I once went to a doctor that prescribed me anti-histamines when I had pneumonia. As a result I got asthma, and I've been very cautious about choosing a cheap, bulk-billed doctor. Central Brunswick Centre is not bulk-billed, but it is rebated by Medicare, so your average cost for a consultation is about $30. The staff are super friendly and you don't have to wait too long when you book an appointment. When it comes to your health you can never be too careful but I wouldn't trust anywhere else.

Central Brunswick Medical Centre is gay friendly, and the majority of doctors are gay themselves. So a lot of the LGBT community are patients here and can get sexual advice and check ups in a comfortable environment. I'm straight but I come here because the doctors, receptionists and facilities are amazing. I've been to a few doctors here. Ken Koh is very helpful, and when I left the appointment he even called me on his private office line to double check whether or not I'd had certain vaccines. Fiona Bishop is fantastic, and is always on high demand. When I first wanted to come to this clinic she wasn't taking on any new patients, but six months later I somehow managed to weasel my way onto her regular patient's list. She's compassionate, but firm, and made me piss myself when I walked in with a nasty virus and she spent our entire consultation with a face mask on. (I was very contagious.) James Kennedy is a sweetheart and has a lovely Irish accent that will make you forget all of your ails. The nurse is also incredibly kind and considerate. My ears get blocked often so I come here to get them flushed out. Having water flushed into your middle ear isn't exactly pleasant and can leave you feeling nauseous, so the nurse sat and chatted with me while the room stopped spinning. Some important things to note: - You're able to claim most of the bill back through medicare, and the ladies at reception can help you set things up so those returns are paid directly to your account. - There's a pathology clinic down the hall so you can get your tests done in one hit. - If you're catching public transport, this place can be a bit difficult to find. Walk past Grill'd, then past Video Ezy, walk up two flights of stairs and it's straight ahead on your left.
