I am a nurse and someone who has chronic health issues so I am understand what makes a good doctor…read more I am thrilled to have found Taigum Central Medical Practice, there are 10+ doctors on staff and also practice based nurses. Recently they employed a physiotherapist and a dietitian works from the practice fortnightly. It is a one stop shop for all things health. I have always been able to get an appointment quickly, for example i phoned at 0805 this morning and I was sitting in my doctors office at 0900, now that is service! Of course you pay for what you get. Most appointments are $70 with a rebate from medicare for $35. The friendly receptionists are happy to process your rebate and have it sent directly to your bank account. I have seen a few people get bulk bill appointments, I guess it depends on circumstances. The waiting area is large and comfortable, with a small children's play area and a TV for us grown ups. The waiting room is almost always bursting at the seams but people are seen quickly and if there is a delay you can get a buzzer from the reception desk and go to the shops in the shopping centre. Mostly if they are running late it is only by 15 minutes. I for one am happy to wait because it means that if I am really unwell that I know the doctors will take the time with me and not rush to get on to the next patient. They also open late a couple of nights a week until 7pm for those who need to see a GP after work. Also they are open until 12pm on Saturdays for those who have become unwell over the weekend. If you need a referral to a specialist these GPs are fantastic and know of the best specialist in Brisbane to refer you on to. Parking is free and just out the front of the practice.

Now I've married into the family, they are my doctors too and I am bulk billed too. Anne is a very lovely, patient doctor, and it's nice to have someone who knows your health history. They have a receptionist on until midday each day they are open and they are closed all day Wednesday.

Experts in their profession, dedicated, responsible, with genuine concern for their patients health and well being. I have a huge respect for both of them as doctors and friends. Physicians of the calibre of Anne Lynch are hard to find these days.

Though there are many places where for the money they charge I could get a similar or better level of health care with less waiting. After Smart Clinics bought our doctors, prices increased, nothing else improved, but gosh...... the pushy marketing tactics I have to endure are beyond acceptable. The new owners won't stop sending their marketing and advertising messages. All attempts to unsubscribe and take myself out of their hard-sell list failed. They disguise their campaign as caring reminders and just keep pushing it. It didn't stop even after I left the place and told them to stop exploiting my personal information that I gave them exclusively for the purposes of getting medical help. The administration of the local centre keeps apologising for the inconvenience, yet nothing changes. Perhaps, there is nothing they can do if someone at the top of the chain wants to run health care like car sales business and takes confidential information as an asset for generating more profits.

Doctor just tells me to take a panadol. Ugh. I could have saved myself $70 and the hassle of getting there when I can hardly move. This visit was with a rather nasty cough. It sounds like nothing, but i've never had one like this before. Different doctor, this one seemed okay, and I reckon he actually got it right. Unlike my regular GP where I never wait past my appointment time, this is the typical doctor; never on time. Still, open until 11pm, if you need a late night doctor visit but don't want to clog up the hospital emergency ward, this is one of your few options.

Since moving into the area this is the first doctor I've decided I will go back to. The surgery itself is fine. There's parking around the back, but if you're lucky you might nab one out the front. It's relatively quiet. The staff are nice enough. My first visit here I did have to wait 2 weeks, then on arrival they'd booked me in for the following week. Why on earth would I want to book that far in advance (when I'd just wanted the closest appointment possible). However on other experiences I've gotten in that day, so I guess it's just down to luck. It's also one of those places that after you come out from seeing your doctor, you need to stand and wait in silence for the receptionist to decide that you are worth there time. No "sorry I'll just be a second" or even a knowing smile. Just ignored. Isn't that lovely? Or maybe that's just me. I don't get served at bars either, who knows... Anyway, no bulk billing I think it's around $70 for an appointment and they can do your medicare back at the counter.
