Before the SmartClinics chain bought our local medical centre, it was ok. Nothing special, just ok. I mostly used it for convenience as it's very close to home. Though there are many places where for the money they charge I could get a similar or better level of health care with less waiting. After Smart Clinics bought our doctors, prices increased, nothing else improved, but gosh...... the pushy marketing tactics I have to endure are beyond acceptable. The new owners won't stop sending their marketing and advertising messages. All attempts to unsubscribe and take myself out of their hard-sell list failed. They disguise their campaign as caring reminders and just keep pushing it. It didn't stop even after I left the place and told them to stop exploiting my personal information that I gave them exclusively for the purposes of getting medical help. The administration of the local centre keeps apologising for the inconvenience, yet nothing changes. Perhaps, there is nothing they can do if someone at the top of the chain wants to run health care like car sales business and takes confidential information as an asset for generating more profits. read more

Well, I've been here twice now. It's only gotten above one star because of my most recent visit. First visit was with immense back pain; I could barely walk. Doctor just tells me to take a panadol. Ugh. I could have saved myself $70 and the hassle of getting there when I can hardly move. This visit was with a rather nasty cough. It sounds like nothing, but i've never had one like this before. Different doctor, this one seemed okay, and I reckon he actually got it right. Unlike my regular GP where I never wait past my appointment time, this is the typical doctor; never on time. Still, open until 11pm, if you need a late night doctor visit but don't want to clog up the hospital emergency ward, this is one of your few options. read more

I've only been here once so far, and have yet to go back for a follow up. First things, I'm a student and could not have afforded to go here without the Student Start-up Scholarship. It was about $95 for an appointment, because it went over 20mins. I got $70 back from Medicare, but it's still something you need to be aware of if you don't normally have that much money in your bank account. The doctor that I saw there was the most competent doctor I have ever had in my entire life. She actually listened to what I had to say, didn't tell me to just deal with or take painkillers and now I'm getting tested for some things after years of pain. It's nice to finally have someone who listened. I like that I am able to book an appointment online rather than call as I never have money for phone credit. It's in an easily accessible place close to public transport and the waiting time was only about 10mins past the appointment time. The staff were friendly, the atmosphere was good and I noticed that they had a lot of people with children there; which explains all the toys in the doctor's office and the special play area and change room that they had in there. They don't currently have a QML centre there but I got told that they will soon, which will make trips even more convenient if you need things like blood tests done. read more

This is my doctor's office away from my doctor's office. The convenience of SmartClinics at Chermside is brilliant - I can be seen virtually at any time, any day of the week. I can book in for an appointment online and they guarantee I'll be seen within 15 mintues of the booking, which means no wasted time because the doctor is running behind. From this perspective, it's actually a better option than my normal GP. It is also reassuring to know I can receive medical care for my family easily on the weekend because they are there. I've consulted with Dr Ahmadi on two visits and found him to have a wonderful, caring bedside manner. I've consulted with Dr Chand for an acute illness and found him quite helpful, friendly and with a bubbly personality. The only thing that let me down about SmartClinics was having to re-provide all of my details on paper upon check-in. My husband and I have been patients at the Chermside surgery for many years and find it the most efficient surgery we have ever attended. Staff are very accommodating and pleasant. We have been seeing Dr Chand and we are delighted to have a doctor with such a genuine and wonderful manner as well as a vast deal of knowledge. Wonderful to feel we are in such good hands. The follow up after a health issue is something we have not found before and are so grateful for as we are ageing. read more

Have been a few times for different reasons with different family members. Most times it seems that a follow up with a regular GP is necessary as Smart Clinics diagnoses are wrong or not completely accurate. The staff are friendly though. read more

The only reason it got one star was I pushed it by mistake and it won't delete! The receptionists couldn't even work out who was next in line. After attending the appointment, I'd rather suffer than deal with that again. Several issues and needed two doctors certificates. Left with one certificate, no actual doctoring was done for my issues. All this was done in the required time ( if it takes longer you pay). So in closing, I'm no better off still have the issues I had, couldn't get the certificate signed ( which was very important and needs to be sent off ASAP.) and am out of pocket. This place is a money making facility and has little concern for health issues. My advice find a good vet!! This isn't doctoring it profit making at its best!! read more

Maybe good if you are visiting from out of town or you are doctor shopping, but as a family doctor or as your regular doctor, SmartClinics is an abject failure. It is the exception to see the same doctor over any length of time. This means there is no continuity. Each doctor is reliant on less than perfect computer records (that they typically don't have time to review anyway) and the overall picture that a real GP has of the patient and family is non-existent. By extension, the sorts of doctors these places employ are also part of the problem. read more
