I went to the hospital on Wednesday morning for a total shoulder replacement. Everything about the hospital was wonderful. Every member of the staff that I came in contact with was kind, attentive, and caring. My room was very nice. It was quiet and comfortable and allowed me to get a good rest for the first night after surgery. The food service was very good. I can't think of one negative thing to say about this hospital. I am surprised by some of the comments I have read. I noticed that some of the staff were wearing T-shirts that indicated that it was voted the number one hospital in San Antonio. was seen at NE Methodist, because of shortness of breathe, eyes rolling in the back of my head and syncope. I was taken back right away, but I wasn't placed in a room I was taken back to what I would say to an urgent care area. There was one nurse and one paramedic to help with patient care Racheal and Jessica. Racheal was probably one of the rudest, and uncaring paramedic I have ever dealt with. Any time I asked a question she was short with answers and rude, and it was so bad that it made me not want to ask for any additional care while there. I have a chronic illness I am at the ER frequently because of it. That is the worst experience I have ever had at NE. It was extremely busy. But, there is no need for someone to be as inconsiderate as she was. This is not the first time I have experienced this with her either. So, I feel that it must be her personality type, but someone maybe should give her some training in empathy. The girl that was sitting across from me was having a hard time breathing and no one came to check on her. I was having my eyes rolling in the back of my head unsure of what was going on and it was the same situation. Jessica and Racheal were standing there complaining about how busy the waiting room was and that they were in a surge. Im NE Methodist is a great hospital none the less. With many caring doctors and staff. But for some reason that day they were lacking in the empathy button. Hopefully someone will see this and make a change. Thank you. read more

Have been to this ER 2 times in the last year. First time I visited was for severe knee pain. I was given Tylenol and sent home within an hour. Turns out I had 2 meniscus tears and other issues. The second time, today, I went to UC first. The doctor there said that I needed to go to the ER, because I needed more care than they could supply. Was going to call an ambulance for me, but it was just down the street so my ride took me there directly. read more

My wife was discharged Tuesday and as we were getting rushed out to be discharged she forgot her Black Chris Brown slippers in either ER room 29 or the second floor room 230. 9/5/25 went to ER there after a bad fall. Could not put weight on left leg/hip. NP "Scott C Coy" ordered X-ray, refused MRI (because am told later it's only for really bad situations). Came back & was told there were NO breaks & NO fractures. I told him it feels like something is broke, he insisted there is no broken bones,but that maybe a bruise.Had husband take me to another ER where MRI/CT/X-ray was done. Told I had 3 fractures & was admitted. My Dr has me on 12 weeks of bed rest, no weight bearing on left side to see if fractures will heal. At end of Oct I have another follow up to see if there is progress or if I'm going to need surgery. Methodist called to see how I was and told the nurse.She was going to escalate it to the medical board she said to make sure this does not happen again. But what about me? And all I get is an, "I'm sorry." read more

My husband is a cancer patient and had blood work recently. As we drove down Toepperwein Road, the very minimal bandage that had been used by the lab came loose, and blood started coming out of the bandage. I instinctively whipped into the ER entrance of NE Baptist as this hospital holds special memories for us. I hopped out and ran in to get another bandage. This little gem was there in the ER and not only gave us a bandage but came to the car to put it on. We were so impressed as she didn't have to do that. I'm disappointed that there is no patients advocate. Staff is overall doing the basics but they don't take into account people, which includes adults, hello, can have concerns sitting in an ER all alone. WTH. Oh wait. No one can express themselves in a negative way because it could be considered aggressive and be addressed as such. So if you want to let staff know that patients have concerns then might as well suck it up because no body cares here? Wow! Ok, yes I know what it is like to be on the providing end of this care bur I have seen a lot of times staff do NOT listen. If it is so overwhelming that listening is not possible so maybe there needs to be more staff or more rooms? Idk. Someone throw me a bone on this but Im worried my wife wants to go AMA and it's all because of being left all alone, having to be in an uncomfortable chair with numbness riding up a leg because of the damn position to have to be in, or or being at a loss with communication because a phone is going to die and then even feeling more alone since there is NO WHERE to charge a phone in the hallway, not to mention the BRIGHT lights when people suffer from migraines. A hallway really shouldn't be an option in any hospital but no hospital system have I seen that this isn't a place to put people. I hope they are all on the same side of the hallway as items otherwise isn't that a fire code violation? read more

I would put 0 starts. Found bed bugs in our rooms. We were in 2 different rooms on the 3rd floor. 313 and 314. They all had huge bedbugs alive and dead on the reclining chair and mattress. The hospital is just dirty and not sanitary over all. They said we weren't able to leave only switch rooms. Also my boyfriend was accusing of having "weed" since it smelled like it in the hallway! 3 different employees came. Falsely accusing patients. My boyfriend had a near death experience drugs is the last thing on his mind. Also another incident he is on a feeding tube. They had it flushing every four hours. During the night it flushed with water and he almost chocked. It took 11 minutes for a nurse to come in. I got up and unplugged everything my self. When I was admitted, the nurses didn't even ask me for all the medications I took, then for the two meds I did tell them about, the doctor didn't even order them. Thank goodness I brought my own meds. Also the nurse couldn't even recognize that my roommates IV pump was not working. It was beeping and the nurse told my roommate that it was normal. I am a nurse and IVs don't make beeping sounds unless something is wrong. Plus when I got my bill, they charged me $2400 for ONE blood test. OUTRAGEOUS. I was there less than 18 hours and my bill was $6400!!!! read more

The staff are rude and dismissive. They run no tests, ask no questions, ignore underlying conditions, and are just in a hurry to discharge you yet under the cause of sickness it says "unknown". Gee I wonder why. All of the staff lacked empathy and compassion including the doctor. I'm convinced they're all in the healthcare field for the money. Absolutely ridiculous. Avoid this hospital at all costs unless you want to end up meeting god sooner than expected. It's also important to note how dirty they are, they drew my dad's blood and somehow got his blood on the floor AND LEFT IT THERE. We had to clean it up afterwards, what hospital does that ??? This place is literally disgusting! The first thing I noticed as I was admitting my mother into the hospital room on the second floor, was extremely dirty, visibly caked up dirt all over the tile floor of the entire second floor. The entry into the room and the baseboards had so much collected dirt, that I wet a cloth and began to wipe it with my foot. It came back removing a to. Of dirt with very little effort on my part. The conclusion: these floors are never mopped. This is a HOSPITAL and this is extremely unsanitary! If at the very least the floors are visibly extremely dirty, how is the sanitation of everything else? My classroom floors with 50 plus kids going in and out and making daily messes is better maintained and cleaner than the second floor. It's shameful. I did give a one staar because the nurses have all been very friendly and compassionate. The food is inedible. The staff delivering the food is very rude. VERY rude. The woman drawing blood for labs was also very rude and needed a lesson in bedside manner. The pic nurse was amazing and very personable. I write this review in hopes of bringing awareness to the hospital of the lack of cleanliness of this hospital. It's seems to have no regulatory expectations and I find that shocking in the least. I will preface this review by writing that never in the world would I have believed the lack of care, regard, and respect displayed by the medical community employed at this hospital. My dad was airlifted to this hospital as a stroke patient. Not one physician saw him for at least 24 hours, when the physician was asked why she never saw him, she lied stating that she had. I was with my father and never saw one doctor. To make matters worse, one of the nurses assigned to him falsified the records regarding the care he provided to my father. I know this because the information was revealed when another nurse was reviewing the information with me and my family. I can go on writing about the negligence and downright malpractice I witnessed. However, this is not the forum for that. I leave this review as a dire warning to anyone that has a family member at this facility. First, don't leave your family member alone. Second, advocate for your family member and ask questions. Finally, if you can avoid being admitted to this place, Do So. You will be better off in a hospital in a third world country than here. We should not have to live in a world where you are afraid that your loved one will die at the hands of the very people are supposed to care for them. read more

I'm a Virginia resident and was visiting in San Antonio. I fell while there, flat on my face. My nose would not stop bleeding and I had cuts over my eye, and my nose. The day after I felt it warranted an ER visit. I was seen right away after registering. Was evaluated or triaged by a NP, who ordered CT scans. The Doctor on that shift gave me the great news that my nose was not broken. I was very impressed with my total ER experience; from registration, to triage, to care and making me comfortable and apprised of next steps. When I was discharged I was provided with a ride to where I was visiting! That was such a great service to offer to discharged ER patients. read more

This place is dangerously incompetent. My mom went into the ER for the third time for severe anemia. They gave her a blood transfusion and said there was nothing more they would do and that she needed to schedule with a GI specialist--which is 6-8 weeks out. This was after they told her they would have a GI doc check her out there. They just changed their story, no explanation or willingness to help. The day they discharged her she was so disoriented she could barely walk or talk, and wasn't eating or drinking. I don't understand how they can treat a patient in dire need so inhumanly. This is the second time I have been admitted to northeast Methodist hospital. The staff on the fifth floor my room 504. I came into emergency on sat the 10 th of May. They admitted me after blood work and a CT scan of my leg. I had a hematoma that ended up being an abscess. Dr White was my surgeon and Dr little John was my dr before and after surgery. Both were awesome and explained everything. The rest of the team in surgery were just as pleasant and helpful. My nurses,CNA,PCT,Lab techs,maint man,head nurse,PT and OT,wound care team and the case mgr we're all above and beyond wonderful. I could not of asked for a better staff to take care of me. Diego,Sara,Ariana,Kate,Heather,Roger {Maint},Gabi,Robin,Sandy, (Ot and Pt),Cally & Cathy (wound care),Felicia,Wendy,Antonio,Marissa, & Errin the case mgr. there was another lady who drew my blood but I never got her name tall African American woman new to the hospital very nice. PLEASE READ!!!!! Do NOT come to this ER. They had me sitting for 5 hours, no medicine or updates or anything. I came in for severe dehydration (couldn't stand on my own, kept passing out) and hyper emission ( which is constant vomiting 30+ times) No nurse, doctor, or any staff would help. When I of course got frustrated and upset the nurses wanted to act all high and mighty and give stupid ugly looks. In my time sitting you can hear all the triage nurses, er nurses and doctors complaining about their patients. If you didn't want this job, why work there!!! My dad had a leg injury and could hardly walk. The nursing staff immediately got him into a wheelchair and wheeled him to a room upon arrival. Staff came in to assess his injury within 5 minutes and got a plan in action. Several nurses and doctors came in every few minutes to check vitals, get him checked in, X-rayed, and fitted for a boot and crutches. The discharge nurse gave us clear after care instructions and answered all of our questions. Altogether, we were in and out of the ER in less than 2 hours- pretty good in my opinion! They even called just now to make sure he was doing alright and that he was able to get an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon (which he was able to set up for the same day thanks to their referral). I was very impressed by the efficiency and speed of this ER and would recommend it for anyone with injuries. read more

If I could give zero stars I would there was a black lady with a short cut working in triage she had the nerve to say "coming to the hospital is inappropriate " she definitely should be fired and shouldn't be working in healthcare. That's the point of coming to a hospital if I'm sick or not feeling well . I think all when it comes to short staff have issues especially during our never ending cycle of COVID battles. But this hospital has a number of people that the care and understanding they show adds to the recovery of each patient they encounter. I had been hospitalized here and they saved my life and years later when my young brother was in critical condition they showed the care I was accustom to here. Truly a leader in caring not just the medical but also mental and spiritual healing for so many. I gave 4 instead of 5 because all have those few that should really find other jobs that don't involve human beings. But overall they are wonderful read more

I was brought here by ambulance after a car accident. Upon arrival the nurses tried to send me away, telling the EMT the hospital was on diversion. The EMT stood her ground and showed them her confirmation for me to come. After much bickering amongst the nurses, which was highly unprofessional, they accepted me. I was taken back to the ER where I waited for a hour before anyone acknowledged me. I will say the interactions I had with staff was friendly, albeit brief; this is the only thing keeping them from a 1 star review. After the intimal check, I was sent to Radiology for x-rays. While friendly, this was unpleasant as the person taking x-rays was in training and kept messing up, requiring me to continually put my arm and leg in uncomfortable positions. After x-rays I was taken to another part of the ER, where I sat for another hour without anyone updating me. Finally a doctor arrived, he spent less than 2 minutes with me and basically said no broken bones but I should see an orthopedic soon. He never showed me the X-rays or truly reviewed them. He then had a nurse come in, give me some pain killers, a wrist splint and a boot brace. From there I was sent out the door. A few days later I saw an orthopedist and he confirmed with new x-rays and MRI that my wrist was broken and I had torn ligaments in my foot. So in the end, I went to NE Methodist for them to send me a bill for referring me to an orthopedist who found the problems and presented solutions. In the future, I will go anywhere but here and I recommend you do the same. read more

Disabled military veteran received a ACDF: Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion at this hospital. I could not be more impressed with Hospital's careful planning--from pre-admission testing to recovery and care. The staff at all levels were highly professional, truly caring and very knowledgeable. Also, the facility was extremely clean and hygienic. My surgeon, Dr. Holger Skerhut, was amazing! Highly recommend. The incision left is one of the best the nursing staff have seen. My only complaint has nothing to do with the hospital; rather, it's with the la Quinta inn next door. It is not safe for family and because the Hospital doesn't allow children visitors (COVID-19 policy) my wife spent much of my surgery and my recovery with the kids at the unsafe hotel. If you plan to stay overnight with family, stay far away from La Quinta. So, families from out of town, plan ahead. read more

We have people who have been here since last night waiting for a room." SERIOUSLY? had an perianal abscess removal done here 4 days ago. ct scan showed I had an infection. they said there wasn't much they can do since the abscess wasn't big enough. they still cut me open, told me to go home and take meds. They didn't fill the cut with gauze or give me anything for pain. Came back yesterday with many symptoms and 10/10 pain, hurt to sit, stand, my body was rejecting anything and everything. Had to sit in the lobby from 1pm and they took my temp at 5PM and finally discovered that it was 108 and I had sepsis. didn't get a room until 7:30. Or anything to help me in the meantime. the picture shown is after they inserted my iv improperly, that was after they had already done this in the same arm earlier and attempted to insert iodine causing me to scream, they just kept trying to insert more while smiling saying it shouldn't hurt. They got mad at me after the alert kept ringing for assistance automatically and I hadn't even touched it. They couldn't get an iv right for both of my arms with many attempts/nurses. I'm an 18 yrs old and was alone for this process and just felt like I was never took serious.. rooms extremely unsanitary and I felt vulnerable being there. read more

There is barely anyone in the ER and it is taking just a long as it does as if the ER was full or busy. I'm aware that they are under staff. But if they cannot keep up with the demands then the facility needs to shut down. Staff is not welcoming or pleasant. I've been to Baptist Hospitals once I will be using their health system for now on. Nurse had me hold my own urine cup for 20 minutes. The quality of care is sorry because the doctor only came out to take care of one patient in the past two hours. The nurse Thomas big guy put the blood pressure cup on very tight and told me that's how it's supposed to be. I wanted desperately to rip it off. The second nurse used the pressure up properly and I was fine. Terrible service. I hope I make it out alive considering I'm here for something minor. read more

This hospital has much potential but there is a ridiculous need for some high level intentional professional development for all staff inclusive of upper administration, physicians and medical technicians around their use of stereotype language, lack of compassion, implicit bias, and other structural inequities. This is particularly urgent since their primary demographic group as customers are 65+ from Latinx and African American ethnicities. Given that it is now 2023 and a much higher awareness of inclusive excellence, there is a far more tremendous need to better serve these groups of people. read more

Only did one star because of the Ultrasound doctor was really nice. Patient care is awful, I went in having blood clots huge ones coming out of my private area. I got blood taken and i asked the doctor if she can look at the photos. She rudely said "No" and that was it. I did an ultrasound and found out that I was having a threatened miscarriage. However, the doctor pulled me into the open area where the admission and nurses are. Telling me i am pregnant and that i am going to have a miscarriage. One i didn't know i was pregnant, she blamed me for potential miscarriage. The lobby could definitely hear and some of the nurses were staring at me and i felt my privacy was violated because i got looks in the lobby. They didn't give me any other information on what i should do, they said bed rest but they couldn't help with the cramps. read more
