No worries I go to visit a friend in Alabama and what does she have nearby but a new Winn Dixie store. It is immaculate inside and the customer service is second to none. Once inside I bee line over to the Chek brand tonic water. After I get in my shopping cart all that is on the shelf I ask a sales associate in Seafood to check in the stock room for me. She did and I got whatever is left. After check out I even had assistance getting it into my car. Where do you find service like this on planet earth?! Thank you for everything. I decided to cook Chili yesterday because I had been feening for it for quite a while and this weekend was the perfect time due to the weather being cold and rainy. Who wouldn't love some chili and cornbread. Luckily everything I needed to buy was on sale so it all worked out in my favor. I will continue to shop at any Winn Dixie location, it is definitely my favorite grocery store.

BUT, we prefer to shop at our local Publix. Our Publix store is clean, easy to park, well-designed and organized, with friendly and helpful staff. The slightly higher prices are reflective of the much higher quality of products and staff. Selection is a bit less varied than Walmart, but the experience is so much more enjoyable. I especially appreciate the recycling center provided by Publix: Paper, Foam, and Soft Plastic. My efforts toward re-use, re-new, and re-cycle are very small, but I'm thankful for the encouragement and support provided by Publix. One more thing: the pharmacy at our local Publix has HIGI! It's an easy, low-stress way for me to keep track of my weight, blood pressure and BMI. Thank you, Publix!

This gas station and convenience store is situated along a somewhat barren (of similar stores)…read morestretch of highway. I had been on the road for a couple of hours on my way to a rental cabin at Lake Martin and popped in for some road snacks and a Coke Zero. What I found was a surprisingly great selection of beer and wine, snacks, and a very nice employee...and a helpfully talkative customer. I grabbed a couple of six packs, a couple of bottles of wine, some beef sticks and tater chips, then loaded up and hit the road. If you are in the area and need provisions, I think that you'll either find what you need here or find a suitable substitute. Huge parking lot and a metric butt-load of gas pumps.

Right out of the gate let's make one thing very clear...you've heard of a dive when referencing a bar or restaurant, well this is the convenience store equivalent of that. More stuff than what you'll find at a normal convenience store, but nothing like what you'll find at like a Walmart or places like that. They do have some staples, I'm guessing because they are in the middle of nowhere and then a few miles beyond ... so they make it so the folks that are in the area don't have to drive forever (plus a little more) to get to a n actual grocery store. Now, where they excel is in oddities. The one that stood out to me - Peach Mango Angry Orchard .... until seeing it here, didn't even know it existed. Just one example of the different stuff you'll find here. Oh, did I say they also have a full service food area - kind of like a publix - fried chicken and all the fixin's.
