Oh, the fickle golf gods had fun with this one.
This is a carnival ride of a gold course, hewn out of beautiful Australian bush with dips and dog-legs and curves and dizzying drops down to Middle Harbour. There ain't a straight hole among 'em, so if you like a predictable course and easy greens.... this ain't for you, friend.
But that's why I like it, and it's a great leveller amongst people of different skill sets. Bring some extra balls for Hole #5, the course's signature hole. You start way up in the bush. The green is only about 50m away from you, but it's also about 50 feet below, it's one hell of an elevated tee. You'll want to have a couple of cracks at smashing it and trying to reach the water before playing the hole properly, it's just too tempting.
Side bonus: really, really great wandering through isolated bush. You could be out of Sydney, it feels that remote. read more
