The birthing rooms are all clean, quiet and comfortable. The midwives are the friendliest people ever. That's a great thing when you are in a highly stressful situation! The face they have a chiropractor for pre-natal care is excellent. What was super more important for my wife, was all the care (including noticing the symptoms of postpartum) after the baby. Once the baby comes out, all the attention goes to the baby, and the mother is practically discarded. Problem is many providers either don't take in new patients at this stage of pregnancy or don't prorate. They pocket ~$1,600 for 2 visits and we're left trying to find someone else to help us. Be careful with expressing your fears, if you don't want to lose money.

When I originally called to ask some general questions about what exactly a doula does, she was kind, patient, and so freaking educated about the process of childbirth. We were offered a tour of Baylor hospital (virtual due to COVID), newborn classes, and tons of educational resources after booking with NDDA. What stood out to me most was the fact that the all female team there just made you feel like you were so seen, every step of the way. As a Black woman, childbirth can be an extremely scary experience, just look up the statistics of mistreatment in the healthcare space for minorities. Melissa and team advocated for my husband and I.
