I have reported this business to the BBB for price gouging as I live in an apartment complex where placers are required yes my car was sold and with that the placer was inside, my boyfriend comes over and says I believe your car is gone what do you mean my car is gone, so I go out with my clicker and of course car is gone, we call this establishment to see for any reason why my car would be there and the lady was extremely chipper on the phone saying yep we just picked it up from said apartments this is ridiculous so we ask what can we we do to reduce the amount of tow by bringing the lease with my name on it to show residency thinking maybe 250 tops these idiots are expecting 417.00 from a single mother that made a mistake by selling my damn car why take a car if your not open all night long shame on this establishment read more

My vehicle was towed Monday so I stopped in Tuesday to retrieve my belongings per my insurer. Amanda at the window was friendly and helpful when I told her what vehicle was brought in she knew exactly where to tell us to look for it. I appreciated that it was a secure lot. Unfortunately where my vehicle was parked w the rain it was essentially on an island of like three inches of water so no fun to step in to but,...could have been worse, could have been dryer, the important thing was I was able to easily have access to the doors to open them. Unethical business!!! They were hired to clear the parking lot of an apartment complex 2 blocks away. When residents were alerted, they were told $125 cash would release the vehicles. Debit cards or any other electronic payments were not accepted. Therefore, 7 residents had their cars towed 2 blocks away & had to pay $417 cash to retrieve their vehicles. $75 of that was admin fees and $50 for "storage" of less than 2 hours. The worst towing company that damaged my car and didn't want to take responsibility. Tried to blame it on someone else hitting it when it was only Maybe one or two hours from the time I left the car to it getting towed. The car was parked on the side of the road as well so no way this happened. Their other google reviews show very similar damages to to mine. I have reported them to the BBB and I'll have my insurance company come after them. This was out of my hands because Minnesota decided to have a horrible winter storm and the roads were completely horrible!!! These damages are worth easily thousands to repair! Now I have to deal with increased premiums. Such a careless company. They charged me 318 for the car being with them max 4 hours or so. read more

ZERO stars. Awful people doing awful business. I'd use any other tow company before North Star Towing. They are only out to make a buck and they treat people like garbage in the process. They claim to be following Minnesota law, however the police department had other things to say about them. We were assured by the police department that this towing company would do the right thing and charge the actual owner of the car. They absolutely did not. They charged us for a vehicle we do not own and they knew it. They bully and extort money from innocent people. Stay far far away from them! read more

I wish zero stars was an option for these crooks. So my sister was in an accident in my car. They towed my car and impounded it from the side of highway 10 when requested not to. Asked them why they couldn't leave it so my roadside assistance could pick it up and not have to pay $224. They claimed it was obstructing the roadway. So the side of the freeway has a shoulder wide enough to park a car while not obstructing the roadway and the car was pulled partly into the dirt. I personally feel that North Star towing and Coon Rapids Police department work together to screw people over. Last time I drove 10 miles down a freeway there is a car dead on the shoulder. You are supposed to have 24 hours. And the car was gone with 20 mins of impact, bullshit is all I'm calling. read more

For those who want the short and sweet version- Short story: DO NOT use this company under any circumstances! Longer story: Our son was in an accident. North Star towing company towed away the car. The driver of North Star was nice and gave me their card. Later that day, we went to get some things out of the car. The two ladies at the desk were sullen and not friendly. Fast forward a couple of days to when we had the car brought to a collision company. North Star agreed to bring the car to the collision company for $120. After the car was towed, they called us and DEMANDED money for the initial towing and fees for the car being in their lot for 2 days. They called my husband and hung up on him (this was even before he started swearing!). Then, they called him back and called him an A**hole! They demanded payment within 30 minutes or they would go back to the collision place and tow the car back. At that point, we knew the car was going to be totaled. Our initial response was, have at it. Then, their threats and demands really started. I get that they have a tough job and have to deal with angry people sometimes. I don't envy them their jobs. However, you get more bees with honey than you do with vinegar. North Star might want to start with that philosophy to train their staff. read more

My boyfriends truck was towed to this tow company after an accident. He had left a lot of his stuff inside the truck that could not be opened without the key. When we went to pick up his belongings they had already been ransacked through and his PS4, 2 remotes, games, and other her items had been stolen. Northstar Towed my vehicle that had a resident sticker in dash. They charged me $297.46. My apartment is 2.6 miles away. they charged me as follows $150 tow $45 dolly $10 fuel surcharge $40 admin fee $17.46 tax $30 storage fee and my car had been there less than 24 hours. open my car and there's my sticker. they said if they don't see the sticker they tow. I get that. but, if I can show you the sticker is in the car I should have only been charged at most $100 if that. I have cancer. I had to use money for medicine and household items to get my car. $10 fuel surcharge and you drove less than 3 miles. there's a special place in hell for scammers like this. This event has ruined the whole month of December. I will pray that karma bites them big time. Funny, they didn't do any towing the last 5 months. so clearly, they are going to buy themselves big gifts this holiday season. They had no sympathy or compassion. I recently had a garage fire and my prized mustang that was also my first car was a victim in the blaze. I called a different tow truck company and had a terrible experience with them as they damaged my other mustang just loading it up. I was referred to North Star Towing by several well known people in the car community and was extremely grateful they did. I have some experience actually towing cars so when Jason came out with not only one but TWO trucks at the same time I knew I found the right guy. Jason and his associate did a marvelous job loading and unloading my cars. He asked all the right questions about my cars. It's not a standard car. As you can see in the pictures besides asking questions he looked the car over very thoroughly to spot any challenges in advance. He noticed the intercooler for the turbo system, how low the car is with an extended rake, and the aftermarket suspension that you just can't "hook onto". Jason even stood on the tow cable as it was ramping up just make sure it didn't pull on the intercooler going up the bed. It took me two and half months to write this, and that's how much of a impression he made with me and the service he provided with my vehicles. It's tough to find good work and help these days, or just even that service that seems to be lacking and North Star towing does EXCELLENT work. If you have a specialty vehicle of any kind or just want piece of mind that you want it done right, please by all means call these guys and gals, I know I will never call another tow company again. Approximately 11:30pm one of your drivers tried to steal my guests car from in from of my house. In my neighborhood we are allowed to park on the street until 2:00AM during the winter months. When confronted she gave some excuse like "she is just trying to work to feed her 4 kids" and quickly hopped in the truck and took off without anymore explanation. I immediately contacted neighborhood management and they said they had no idea about it and never authorized a tow. I called in and the dispatcher claimed they had no drivers out at all right now. That was a blatent lie. After getting the cops involved the dispatcher later reneged her statements and claimed it was all a misunderstanding. So right there she admitted to lying. So basically your drivers are our here trying to unlawfully tow cars at the expense of innocent people just so they can further line their own pockets. It is your only woman working in Anoka county tonight 2/26/16. Trim build and short blonde hair. Stealing cars. Not a good look for a supposedly legitimate company. read more

Awesome people, amazing service. I got in a car accident and they were there to tow, pick up all the pieces and were great about everything. They even sent me pictures for the insurance company and just so I could see them too. The staff there are very helpful.I will definitely be calling them if I need anything in the future.
