Weird but fine, if the text etiquette is on point. His was a mess. He asks me to take pictures inside and out, of the windows. Ok sure, but I'm one town over and you could just pop by. He asks what I want, I say picture windows. He sends me a picture of double hang and says he recommends them. Don't need them. Then he just TEXTS me a price range. Red flag. Where's your quote with the type of door being used? Also, the number is high. I ask for the SKU to look it up on my own. He sends me a generic link to an affiliate landing page for DOUBLE HUNG DOORS. Ok, so here's where you have to use your best judgement. These guys have great ratings on multiple pages, so they obviously do excellent installs. But that doesn't mean they aren't ripping people off, because you can get similar work done for MUCH cheaper. That's where I got him, bc he wasn't willing to disclose where his range was coming from and then immediately tried to pass me off to Renweal by Anderson, which is widely known as THE biggest price-hike in the game. The safe bet with them is whatever they quote you initially is about double what it should actually cost. So it makes sense the owner thought it's a reasonable peer in the industry. Then he weirdly started text-harassing me when I passed on his offer. Piss off.

After requesting a quote online, Paul followed up quickly via text and we scheduled a consult for the very next morning. Paul and his son were an absolute pleasure to work with. They clearly understood our situation--we just needed to get the house in good shape to sell--and never once tried to upsell us. In an age where so many companies subcontract everything out, it was incredibly refreshing to work directly with a father-and-son team who clearly take pride in their work. We even spent some time swapping stories about great rock 'n' roll shows we've seen. On their way out, I asked if we could quickly borrow their measuring tape to check the size of a missing piece of siding, since we planned to try fixing it ourselves. Without hesitation, they offered to take care of it when they came back to install the windows. That generosity alone meant so much and took one more thing off our very full to-do list. A few weeks later, the windows arrived and were installed without issue--and they absolutely added value to the house. But the story doesn't end there. Other helpers possibly illegal immigrant did not speak English. They ripped the water shield membrane with hands instead of cutting it straight with a knife and thereby exposed bare wooden board with no protection 2. Loui did not filled holes along the edge of roof new pieces of wood until I caught his worker skipping that. Since the rest of the board was covered in my absence, I would not know how much holes were unrepaired 3. Main part of the Ice-dam prevention cable was not installed back to roof but left in the gutter saying it is better that way. However, when snow came, this area with cable inside of the gutter did not do anything and the snow dam was built on roof 4. I complained about the gaps developed along jams of my sky light window. Loui said that is inside job and has nothing to do with his job. After returning from a 7 month long trip abroad, I found two dozen flies in the house and I bought 6 fly catchers and spent hours catching them daily then I found the entry point for flies. It was the sky window jam was affected by roof job and allowed flies to enter the house. I had to ceil the sky light window with flies in them. The flies all disappeared through the gaps. I still have covered the sky light ceiling. 6. From day 1, Loui was absent shopping for roof shingles. Since he said my first, second and third choice of color for shingles were not available and I had to choose between the two available. He must be in discount supply store. Yet his price is higher than professional roofers . He is not qualified or equipped to handle whole roof installations.
