Enjoyable local spot with a fun retro/ vintage vibe decor. Burgers, sandwiches, soup cheesecurd type of place on the Monroe Square. Cuteness rating is a 4 (vintage 1940s barback, lots of brick and barnwood) VISIT ONE: I had the brisket sandwich. It wasn't quite what I expected (piece of sauced brisket on a bun), but it was good. Brisket was moist. Served with a choice of side. Plenty for lunch. Wait staff was pleasant. VISIT TWO: Sat at the bar this trip. It was at least 10 minutes before anyone acknowledged us, even though wait staff walked behind the bar a couple of times and made eye contact. May not have been her domain, because we were finally waited on by someone else who I assume was the bartender. She was a little rude. Asked her for the wifi password, which had been changed since the previous visit and she responded "I don't have access to that information". Ordered a cheeseburger with everything on it, and she said, " i dont know what that is. You're going to have to tell me." Really? It's a burger & it generally means lettuce, onion, tomatoes, pickles. You know, the exact items listed on the menu. Geez! Husband asked about the soup of the day and was told by the soup nazi that they didn't have any - just chili, today. Burger was served on a fresh kaiser roll and was good. The salad was fairly large and was also fresh. We'll be back again (buy local!). Maybe more hospitable staff will be working the next time. read more

I started with 4 stars then added one more star because the Spotted Cow was so cold they could cancel school The pictures can say it all plus the pizza was a bbq chicken, my Chicago guest said it was "fire" and that's good! Prime time sandwich was dipped with flavor. Waffle fries I would say were fire too!!! read more

My husband ordered three fish fries for takeout. he was informed they don't do that anymore. so he took baked fish which literally turned out to be nine bites of fish, condiment sized baked beans and coleslaw, and zero fries/potatoes. for $14 each. This was a complete ripoff but we live 30 mins away so not worth turning around. never again. read more

BEST CHEESE CURDS EVER! And I have tried A LOT of fried curds in my time. We've never had a bad thing here at all. Burgers are fabulous and drinks are boozy and delicious! Staff are amazing and friendly. Complete your meal with a boozy hot cocoa before walking around the town square. read more

Literally the only place in Monroe that I rave to everyone about. Whenever we have friends come up to Monroe we take them here. It's the best place to get a burger but honestly anything you get on their menu is incredible. From their pork to their beef, everything is delicious including their appetizers. I have a problem with beef where I usually get sick after a burger but never here. When I asked the owner she said their beef is organic, grass-fed, and local. Only place I can get the best tasting burgers. All the servers are so kind, great service, and nothing on the menu is ever subpar. We love going to this place any chance we can. Highly recommended. read more

Ok so before I say anything, let me get this straight-best hidden secret in Wisconsin by far. When we walked in we were instantly greeted and seated. We noticed that they where fairly busy and low staffed, but they had no problem getting us food and drinks right away. When I ordered a second root beer, the bartender told us that it was on her, thanks to Barb (the bartender). I am not a mac and cheese kinda girl, but the brisket mac is absolutely amazing, and the cheese curds are a must try. The ambiance had a small-town bar and grill vibe. New favorite restaurant in Green County. read more

If you are looking for a great dining experience in Monroe, you will find it on the North Side of Monroe's historic square. This restaurant is one of the best around and is ideal for business luncheons, a date with the wife, or family dining. The burgers are delicious and the cheese curds are always amazing. They have a huge menu of drinks and you can see them made with fresh fruits and the finest booze. Great decor and music with several big televisions if you want to watch sports while enjoying a drink at the bar. The owners are intimate with operations and are dedicated and hard working to insure you have the best experience. I highly recommend read more

What a place! We found this as a suggestion from Tom, a New Glarus employee. We were on a self guided tour there and asked what the best place for fried cheese curds would be. This was it, he said! 20 minute drive from New Glarus and totally worth it. Located in a quaint town square, this place is perfect for those looking for great service + quality food in a small town. The servers were friendly and attentive, all working together as a team making sure you had exactly what you needed. The food was fresh, hot, and delicious! They have a nice selection of beer and a fun long list of (affordable) martinis! This is a great place to stop for a beer or for a meal (or both!). read more

Best.cheese curds.ever! Highly recommended. Must "go to" when near Monroe WI! Service is awesome as well, super friendly staff.

Brisket Tacos and Sassy Tacos were a hit for my husband and I. Our kids also enjoyed the grilled cheese and waffle fries.

We stopped by for lunch on Sunday and were totally repulsed by the food. The "caramelized" onions on my "Cheese Louise" sandwich tasted like old hamburger grease! The side of coleslaw was tasteless. My hungry husband couldn't bear to finish the pulled pork Mac & cheese he ordered, it was so tasteless. Our server tried her best, which was nice. But we'll never go back. read more

Nice pub atmosphere. Delicious olive burger and solid chicken sandwich. Would definitely eat there again if in town.

Came to north side and had melody as a server, she was amazing. Read the menu to us, explained all the food to us and was super happy. Made us feel comfortable! Food was great, brisket tacos were amazing. Next time we come to WI, we will be back! read more

Food came out within 10 minutes of ordering it. It was actually hot when it arrived to us. I got the Alwilta burger. The barbecue sauce was very sweet which is why I am giving this place 4 stars. The prices are pretty average. $13 for a burger and fries read more

Really enjoyed our lunch here. The curds were out of this world. The burgers were nice and juicy and full of flavor. Glad me made the stop. We'll be back read more

Would give it 5 starts if you didn't have to pay $1 for a small dipping sauce for the cheese curds. Culvers gives you 1 free and then only charged $0.25 if you want a 2nd sauce. read more

Since they lost their best cook it's not near as good. I quit going. Most employees lack knowledge of the menu items. Mostly due to the high employee turn over. I wonder why they can'tkeep them? I see they are hiring again. read more

Walked in after an oil change. Street parking. Right on the town hall square. Offer fried cheese curds, asparagus, green tomatoes along with the usual apps. Burgers made different ways, a chicken sandwich and two types of grilled cheese. Accompanied with choices of sides. No salads, just Cole slaw. Burger cooked right, good tots. Cheese Louise need work. Dry bread, non melted cheese, but good sautéed onions. Coleslaw tasty. Wouldn't not not go back. Ambiance is tavern like with license plates and a lot of wood. A few booths, long shared tables. Friday night fish fry. read more

We came during the last weekend of September. It was during Oktoberfest so there are tourists around. Well we were a group of those tourists and treated like it by our server Courtney. She acted like it was a disservice to serve us. She was short with us and mumbling under her breath the entire time once she left the table. Maybe she was just having a bad day but it seemed unnecessary to act that way towards us. The asparagus and cheese curds were ordered for apps. Both were great. For the mains, tacos I was told they were just okay "wouldn't order again", a barbecue bacon burger, cooked like it was wanted and "I liked it". Lastly a bacon chicken sandwich with sauce ordered on the side, a fine sandwich but sauce must have been outside because it was not delivered with the meal. Two sides of tots were ordered one thought they were under cooked (but they like crispy tots) the other thought they were again fine. A few beers (3) were ordered and consumed by the table, two rounds. We were finished eating and the check was dropped off without asking if we were sticking around for a few more beers. We would of been willing but again it seemed like we were a burden to our server. So, we were leaving. This rating is not about the food, it's about the service. I dont know if this will fall upon deaf ears but heed the warning. Even with exceptional food, poor service will ruin a business. There has been another complaint about our server in another review, so I doubt anything will change. read more

I used to love coming to North Side Pub for their cheese curds but, unfortunately, I had a bad experience the last time I visited. I found a wire bristle in my cheese curds and didn't make a big deal about it even though it was very disturbing. They did take the cost of the curds off my bill, but still charged me for the very small side of ranch for the curds and for a very small cup of coleslaw that I asked to swap out for the beans in the two meat plate. I told the waitress that I saw they didn't make substitutions but could I just get an extra coleslaw instead of the beans. She said yes, she could make that happen, but didn't tell me that it would cost $1.99 extra. I felt that given the fact that they could have really caused some internal damage by serving me food with a wire bristle it it, they shouldn't have been so cheap by nickeling and diming me on everything else. Very disappointing! We will not be back. read more

Food is sub par at best. I made a simple change from Swiss cheese to cheddar on my burger and they charged me for changing it. Waitress gave me my bill half way through dinner and didn't come back till we were ready to pay the bill. If you go bring cash, because they charge you if you use card and don't even bother telling you that there is a charge. They just bring the credit card receipt back with a "surcharge" on your new receipt. read more

They have really tasty cheese curds & fried green tomatoes! Highly recommend you place an order for those. Their burgers are so so so good and creative! We each tried a different one. I can't remember what mine was called but it had a pepper jam in it that gave a very unique flavor! I would recommend coming here for a meal sometime. read more

I have eaten at this establishment many times and had wonderful drinks and meals but this time.... not so much. Ordered the fish fry for lunch. suddenly everything is Ala Carte for one. Also ordered the Nona Ann, which had always been with a delicious brisket cut - very tender and flavorful. Not a great selection for lunch though, I'm afraid. 2 5 inch deep fried pieces of fish - not generous in the least! burned and the waffle fries - which were extra - were bigger than the pieces of fish. very sad indeed. the brisket had hardly any sauce and nothing else. a little itty bitty cup (dressing cup for a salad) of coleslaw - cheap filler. keep in mind this is lunch time! not peak eating times so actually would have expected more dedication to presentation and value. $15 a plate. glad I didn't order for delivery because that would have added another $10 to an otherwise lackluster and disappointing meal. sad indeed and definitely makes me think twice about frequenting the establishment. bad cook perhaps or budget cutbacks made this meal absolutely a let down. big sad. To go lunch of 8/19/22. read more

North Side Pub and Grill - This was the overdone tony pieces of fish on a bed of typical ( additional cost) waffle fries. - American Near Me - Monroe, Wisconsin

Wonderful! Food unique and delicious. Server Courtney was engaging and extremely helpful especially describing the menu. Looks like they have a terrific fish fry. On the square with patio seating. Only suggestion I would make is to revamp the menu with easier to read item descriptions. Other than that, TERRIFIC! read more

Typical bar food, everything is either fried or comes frozen out of a bag. Ordered the bbq chicken sandwich with a side of slaw. The slaw was over peppered and the chicken was tasteless. The sandwich had a light drizzling of bbq and apparently an extra side of bbq comes with an extra 50 cent charge. The service was decent but can't say I'd return for this less than mediocre bar food. read more

Just took my work team of seven people for lunch. Started out OK, good curds and fried green tomatoes. The orders arrived and my burger was not even close to warm. Had to wait 10 minutes before the waitress appeared again. When I informed her my burger was cold, I was told "I'll get my manager". No offer of a correction. 10 more minutes and I received the check with a whopping half off on my uneatable burger. No manager, no apology. After another 10 minutes of waiting I had to bring the check to the waitress to cash me out. She apologized but too little too late. Too bad for them as I work with 250 other people who will now know that it's buyer beware at the North Side Pub. Not a good move in a small town read more

My family & I went here for the Green County Burger Contest and ordered 8 burgers (no changes, all as is - not a difficult order). 7 burgers came out and the 8th did not until 20 minutes later. No apologies, no nothing. We also had to get our own drinks from the bar. Will never go back also a very large required gratuity for, simply put, terrible service from the waitstaff and the kitchen. read more

The Lillian burger was delicious! Everyone I was with enjoyed the food. But.....when we first arrived we were told it would be a half hour wait, despite the half empty restaurant. No problem! We were also told that they had run out of a few things. Again, no problem, we appreciated their honesty. Well once we started ordering, every other thing we tried to order was out. No asparagus fries, no onion straws, NO CHICKEN! So we all finally placed an order. The waitress came back twice to tell us part of the ingredients were out. We were being very flexible. Finally the five plates came out, there were 6 of us. Not a word was said about my missing plate. I thought maybe the waitress was just going back to get it when I noticed she was folding napkins. I went up to her and asked about my burger "oh I'm sorry they lost it, it will be right up". At this point we were one of two tables in the whole restaurant, they were not slammed!! Why didn't she mention anything to me once she realized they messed up. She did give us a small discount. Oh, I nearly forgot, no orange slice on my Blue Moon!!!! We won't be going back. read more

The bartending and waiting service from 7-10 on a Wednesday night is very poor. Got criticized by the bartender when I walked up to order a drink, and I am of age. (Even though I do look quite young for how old I actually am)After I pull out my ID. she poured me a beer into a dirty glass then went and made another joke about my friends and I. It wasn't in the typical bartender joke, she was being serious and just rude. Safe to say I'm never coming back. If I could give a negative number of stars I would. read more
