As far as I can tell, this is a "company" owned by some guy and all it does is purchase properties in foreclosure auctions.
Some background: We lived in a condo owned by a man who stopped paying his mortgage. We only learned that the bank had placed the unit in foreclosure via publication in September 2012 (like two weeks after we moved in), meaning we received a notice in the mail to "occupant" that the unit was in foreclosure.
Fast forward to June 2013. My husband and I receive separate phone calls and voicemails from Ken at North Shore Holding notifying us that he just purchased the unit we live in at a foreclosure auction and we now owe him rent. He did not attempt to send us proof that this purchase had been made or attempt to send us a new lease - he just assumed we'd take his voicemail and email at face value and begin paying him $1350.00 per month, no questions asked.
Obviously, my husband and I are not that gullible, so we contacted our landlord, who claimed he had no idea the unit was even in foreclosure (which is an entirely different and ridiculous story). Current landlord decided to contest the sale, so for the months of July, August and September, we were still waiting for the court to decide who officially owned the property so we knew to whom we should pay rent.
October 2013 rolls around and we receive another notice from North Shore Holding on October 2 to begin paying rent to Ken again. Of course, we did not take this request at face value and consulted an attorney, who let us know that the property was still owned for another 30 days by the original landlord. So, legally, we had to pay the original landlord our October rent.
If you think this entire situation sounds like a terrible comedy, you're right! After we paid our rent to the original landlord in October, we began receiving emails from BOTH men complaining that we owed both of them money. North Shore Holdings was angry because we were "talking" with our original landlord; Ken could not believe we were still talking to the original landlord, which made no sense.
The entire interaction we had with this "company" was a nightmare, from start to finish. In the end, every email we got from the owner of this "company" was childish and ridiculous, insisting that we were always wrong about something and that we didn't deserve to have a new lease once North Shore Holding came to own the property. We are definitely glad to have moved away from this situation and if you ever find yourself viewing 928 W. Sunnyside, #1E, run far, far away. read more
