I'm still on cloud 9 from my visit so I think now is the perfect time to write this review. We…read moreopted to go for the adult only retreat as our youngest child (the only one left) had no desire to go and if we weren't taking our kid we certainly didn't want to deal with anyone else's. Going into this trip I didn't know much, other than they had horses and that was what I wanted to do - ride horses. We arrived really early in the morning and was picked up at the airport, which was the size of a postage stamp. It was really easy to find our person, who grabbed our bags and loaded them into the trailer while we sat in the van. Met some others that were on the trip on the way to the lodge. Upon arrival they had a tent setup in the front where they greeted us, gave us a bag with a map of the property and list of that week's activities, told us our rooms weren't ready yet but they would find us when they were. Now - I'm going to note that they said they would find us when our room was ready and I didn't think they really would. We continued to check in to see when the room would be ready, but then later I saw them literally hunting someone down to give her keys - so they will indeed find you. When we checked in the room was a standard lodge room, we had a fridge but our friends didn't, in mentioning this in passing to the staff they brought them a fridge. Talk about service! We spent the next four days riding horses mostly, but also enjoying the company of the other guests and hearing stories from the staff. While we were really heavy on the horse rides we also enjoyed taking a tour of the elk preserve and clay sporting. We got a ride up to the yoga spot for a view (weren't too keen on hiking up there) and spent a good amount of time in the bar with fellow guests chatting up the staff. Everyone was amazing and so accommodating- I had said it was a bucket list trip but the staff at the Averill ranch has me seriously considering returning next year. Thank you for the memories.

It was early afternoon when we arrived, therefore relatively busy. We waited at the front to be seated and were behind a large group. The hostess saw us behind the group and offered for us to sit at the bar if we were comfortable with that, which is what we would have wanted anyway. I appreciated them noticing us behind the large group and not making us wait while they figured out the seating for the others. There were so many options on the drink menu that it was almost overwhelming! I opted for a flight so I could try multiple small samples before committing to a large glass of anything. The bartender was very helpful in explaining differences between the varieties and helping me choose ones that would match my palate. It was a great experience!

Every single time I've been here the service is friendly, prompt, and the combination of excellent service, good food, tasty cider, and comfortable atmosphere are what keeps me coming back! Yet other larger breed dogs were allowed to continue to walk in the market, even ones who were barking at people. It's ok to say no dogs allowed, but it needs to be ALL dogs. Woohoo, short walk to the oldest farmers market in Montana. While my husband is working over in Whitefish, I have been here doing homework in the room, I get our during the day and walk around and have seen this area of the mall parking lot dead, so when Saturday rolled around it was a mob scene. Who knew. Lines of cars, lines of people and the smell of fresh donuts being made on the spot, were almost more fun than I could handle in Montana. I did a couple of laps with my Trader Joe's reusable bag in hand... looking the part of a serious farmers market regular... brought my own bag, have plenty of singles in my purse, and not for stripping farmers, but for those awesome tomatoes. I hit several farmers markets back in Oregon, and this one is a decent size, so there were plenty of places to pick from for early crops. The flowers were incredibly cheap, I saw giant pots of pretty red geraniums going for under $10. I was tempted to line my hotel room with them and take them home, but instead I opted for fresh made kettle corn and a bag of salad for $3. Starting in April they are here until October, every Saturday. It is worth the trip over there if you are in town.
