It was not properly filled out when we were there, and after we complained, they sent a cut sheet completed after the fact to match their pricing and make themselves look right. The product quality was unacceptable--tasteless bacon, grey ham, ignored cut instructions, and "flavored" brats with barely any flavor. Others who raised pigs with us were given discounts and even free hams purchased elsewhere to smooth things over, while nothing was done to make things right with us. Instead, they claimed they "checked" their cameras and suggested trying a different brining method next time. There will be no next time. We will not return and strongly advise others to take their business elsewhere."

Weyerhaeuser is a little town in the middle of nowhere, where if you blink you would miss it, but this little gem is tucked safely inside the main town area, right off highway 8. I have been coming to Barney's since I was a kid, and their quality has never wavered in all of my time on this Earth. Beef sticks, fresh jerky, any cut of meat you can think of, specially seasoned steaks, and all at a price that's reasonable. Whenever I cruise through the area, I make it a habit to stop in for some of their BBQ Beef Sticks, they are absolutely TO DIE FOR. Proper butchers greet you upon entering this Wisconsin shrine to meat and prepare to magnificent perfection the exact cut of meat you order. On this my first trip and after recovering my senses having been wowed by this little shop hidden in the woods, my particular friend and brother Bunky and I ordered porterhouse steaks (1 1/2" thick), 1"-thick boneless ribeye for the kids and for another day 1 1/2" center loin, boneless pork chops, and strips of double smoked bacon for the rotkohl to be served with pork chops. All meats will of course be grilled, steaks for 7 minutes on each side to yield charred, medium rare steaks. Oh, let me not forget to mention the smoked salmon that is so tasty and served as our biscuit for making the journey between lake cabin and The Butcher Shop. My particular friend and brother, Bunky enjoys a nearby lakeside cabin and will return as will I when next in Wisconsin. But I've finally found a place that has options for quick-frozen meat. In the last three/four years, they never have the 12-14 ounce bison ribeye cut in stock. This is very frustrating because I would have to buy two 6-7 ounce cuts, instead. This would increase my overall cost. Ordering meat online has evolved a lot over the last four years, so my options are no longer limited like before. I've been researching other online sites for my bison meat and their prices are at least 10% lower than Northstar Bison. They also tend to have the sized cuts I want in stock.

There is one woman who always is there when I check out and she's one of the nicest. We got menus in line so we knew what we were going to order. We got a couple beers and three sodas. They were out of root beer and water but the kids found other things to drink. The waiting system really could use some improvement. The poor servers running around yelling names and looking for people was rough. I felt bad for them. We waited about an hour and a half for our two pizzas. I will say they were really good. I liked they you could customize them. We ordered the meat and heat but only put the heat on one half. We also ordered one of the other specialty pizzas and that was great too. I love that they have a true farm to table experience. I also love that they make their own cider and beer. I would come back, hopefully on a slower night!
