Expired white cheese
Eylul I.

Most of the products they sell are past their expiration date -- snacks, cheeses, sausages... There needs to be inspection and control. Also, their prices are higher compared to other north park produce in Poway.

This was my first time to this location as I used to live closer to the Poway store. Things are laid out a little different. They also have you pick up items from the deli that are prepackaged in Poway, such as Tabouleh and Dolma. The employees are great, friendly, and helpful. The store is packed with inventory of things that you can't find easily elsewhere, including many choices of some items. I will make this location my regular stop.

Still love this place! The hot food got a bit more expensive but that's inflation. We still get the gyro wrap, they use a huge bread so it does get a little bready towards the end. The gyro plate is great too. In addition to hot food we get their hummus, and garlic sauce so good! Their grocery is a hit or miss. Sometimes the veggies look really fresh, sometimes it looks gross. We love their cucumber. They have bok choy, cabbage, bean sprouts for our Asian needs.

Breads, cookies, produce

I was intrigued with everything that was here. You'll find many items you can't find anywhere else and brands you can't get anywhere else. I may come back for packaged goods (seasonimg, tea, cookies), but on a Friday night, the market appeared to not be well maintained. The produce looked wilted, and the displays were dirty. The refrigerated area had condensation on the outside of some of the doors, and I saw dirty vents on the refrigerated equipment. I would want to try the vegetarian food and sample their feta cheese from their deli, but I wouldn't feel comfortable eating there based on the maintenance of the market. The exterior windows need cleaning, and they still have the social distancing sign outside. It just seems hope is lost, but it can be better!

So my daughter is working in the area for a week and she keeps telling us that everyone tells her she has to come to this Market with a restaurant inside. The restaurant: the food is amazing. It took me three sittings to eat the beef shawarma wrap I purchased. They gave me three sauces but I wish I could have just received more of the ground garlic sauce. The market: they have some very unique foods which was pretty cool but the prices are really high. Some of the items looked like they had been there for a long time. I was looking at some bologna but I don't know that I would have been comfortable buying that. I did buy some ground garlic sauce for my wrap.

Falafel (half a dozen less the one I'd already taken)!

Mixed experience for both the hot food and grocery portions of the trip. Hot food : big selection of middle eastern/Persian standards. Daily special is a smoking deal. They pack in the food so all of it is a decent value. You can get small side containers of toum. You order inside the grocery and then pay at checkout and bring your receipt around to pick up your good at the counter toward the front of the store. There are a few tables to eat at inside but it was freezing cold so we took it to go. We got 2 combo plates and 6 falafel. Chicken was pretty dry, beef kubideh was good. Falafel were pretty nice, but there are a few places I like better (Panini Kabob Grill and The Kebab Shop in Oceanside). Grocery: variety of items but not super well-organized - you'll find spices in like 5 different areas for example and half unpacked boxes in stacks randomly. Produce and Meat counter both looked a little iffy to me, though I did pick up a bunch of cilantro I needed. Deli and bakery looked good though. 3 or 4 types of fresh feta. Bread made in house that's definitely worth picking up. I did get tzatziki in the deli. They also had standards like cucumber salad and baba Ghanaian. I thought it was weird they didn't have toum (had to buy a commercially packed container for $9) but they do have small sides of it at the hot food counter. Tons of pickles, tea, a whole section of British/imported sweets. Overall a mixed experience. I'd go back for the fresh bread, hot meal specials and to look for specific ingredients perhaps.

I went on a Wednesday and get the $6.99 falafel wrap for their special. So much food for the price. Food was great and it was ready quickly.

Don't buy a beef shawarma, you couldn't able to eat, so don't waste your money. However, chicken shawarma was good.

The Asiago bread was delicious and love that it was made fresh there. I didn't feel heavy after eating. We got the carrot cake and that was yummy. Even went to the store next door and checked it out. Saw the beautiful wild Alaskan salmon and finding out they caught it themselves had to get some. Looking forward to going back sometime. Very clean, friendly, interesting vibe. The food tastes genuinely homemade and wholesome, like real care went into every step. I was a little worried the Deli Rose sandwich might be heavy, but it was absolute perfection. Rich, balanced, and incredibly satisfying without weighing you down. The chips are freshly made and so crispy and delicious, the kind you keep reaching for. The iced green mate is grown and prepared by them and is smooth, refreshing, and genuinely calming. You can taste the intention behind everything, from the house made breads to the home grown vegetables and simple, wholesome ingredients that let the food shine. There is a religious or communal aspect behind The Yellow Deli, and I do not claim to know or understand all of it, nor do I need to. What I do love and admire is the home grown, homemade, back to nature feel of their community and how much of that care and love clearly shows up in the food, the space, and the overall experience. This is not a loud or rushed deli. It is a place to sit, linger, and enjoy. The patio is charming, the yellow building is iconic, and the service is warm and kind. You can tell the people here truly love what they do, and it shows.

Additionally, their sushi, smoothie bar and pre-made foods are top notch - they are MILES ahead of any of the "big" grocery stores. So the question is - if they are so great, why do they only have 4 stars on Yelp? One major reason is that they stretch their products. If you don't check the expiration date on every product you purchase, you will end up buying something months after it expired. I purchased a Brie-en-croute on sale for Super Bowl. I was so excited to try it. When I opened the box, the product had mold all over it. I looked at the expiration date and it was not supposed to expire for another week. Then I looked more closely. They had an expiration sticker that was on the box that had already passed, and then they put another sticker on top of that one with a different expiration date. That's not accidental - that's intentional. I definitely felt taken advantage of. Is it enough to make me stop shopping at Frazier Farms? Absolutely not. But, if this grocery outlet wants to improve, they need to look into why so many products on the shelves are expired. I understand not wanting to waste things. But you can't put new stickers on top of old stickers while selling a moldy product. I hope someone in management reads this review, and takes it seriously. I don't have time to go back to Fraziers every time I have to return an expired product. If that changes, I will change this review to 5 stars.
