This park is a diamond in the rough. It spans 16 acres and was dedicated in 1948. It is across from…read morethe Decatur County Fairgrounds, a skate park, a bowling alley, and a sports complex. I did not see a designated parking lot, but there are tons of free street parking available. The park borders the 10-acre Decatur County Park Lake. This park has a little bit of everything. You will find a pickleball court here, but it has seen better days. There are a few picnic tables, shelters with picnic tables, enclosed shelters with picnic tables, a disc golf course, a cornhole field, horseshoes, glider swings, and a lighted full basketball court. The park has restroom facilities on its grounds, and they sure beat porta-potties. I love the park's basketball tree. It is part art and part functional basketball goal. Remember, it is BYOB, bring your own ball. The park's playground has a mix of old and new equipment. Most of the playground is on rocks, with a small section on rubber chips. The playground consists of a tall spiral slide, an ADA swing, traditional swings, a geo dome, a see-saw, animal rockers, and a balance beam. The playground's older jungle gym is decent. It has monkey bars, a bridge, and a bunch of slides. The new jungle gym, which is for younger kids and is on the rubber chip surface, has a canopy, a pebble bridge, and a couple of slides. This is a nice park that has a scenic view of its lake. There is a bunch of shade provided by the trees in the park and the park is very calm. My only knock on the park is that the facilities could use a little updating and TLC. Don't get me wrong, they are adequate, but could use just a little help.

For the purpose of making the review easier, I've grouped the municipal baseball diamonds and the…read moreDecatur skate park into the review. The park has about 16 acres of land and another 10 acres for the water that is on the property near the fairgrounds. On the north end, DC Bridge 140 stands out in its pastel blue steel allowing visitors to cross the water safely. On the south end of the park is where you will find the shelters, lots of wooded area, a basketball court, tennis court, and a small playground. Across the street is where you will find the multi-diamond ballpark (closed for the winter) and the skate park (similarly closed). The skate park looks to be in great condition but I'm not experienced enough to tell if they are challenging for riders. They look like they would be, so check out my photos. The park was in pretty good condition with limited parking on the south end, but a bit more on the north end by the bridge. Review #2129
