On two separate occasions, I went in to enlist. 1st occasion I went in at 5am, NEVER received a follow up call. I decided to try again a few days later. After waiting for 2 hours, I decided to call to check on the line status. I was told that they crossed off my name WITHOUT calling me because I had no paperwork on file. When I went to enlist my name, they inform me I would received a call. no further action needed until I got called. Then how was I NOT notified before they decided to cancel my appointment?!! Horrible customer service! They do not have consideration of their customer's time. DO NOT RECOMMEND. read more

Only reason why I'm rating it 1 star is because there's a guy, bald, and is very rude and aggressive. He presents himself like if he's the manager and if he is then he needs to be fired. VERY HAPPY ABOUT THIS VET AND THE CLINIC STAFF!!!! I went to the clinic on a Tuesday, the parking lot was about half full, and I saw only a few people inside either waiting to see the Dr. or being processed. I was asked to fill out a simple one page document for both of my pets. The questions were few and simple, mostly names, contact numbers etc. Once done with the paper work, I was immediately taken to an exam room by staff. So, I waited a total of 5 minutes, seriously 5 minutes, before going to the exam room. The staff member examined each dog immediately and asked a few questions and read my MEDICAL HISTORY REPORT from the SPCA. The Dr. entered about 5 minutes after that, she was friendly, and I asked her a few questions and she responded. She examined each pet, then gave instructions to to the staff person. I was given antibiotics for each dog, because they probably had kennel cough (they were coughing) and had been kenneled at the SPCA. One was given medication for an eye infection, and each was given a 6 month supply of heart worm preventative and a 3 month supply of flea and tick protection for a total of $185. It was quick, effective, efficient, organized, and a very reasonable fee. The facility was very adequate, clean, and all of the staff were very friendly. So, I'm extremely happy about my visit (about 30 minutes total time) and I look forward to a great working relationship with the Dr. and the staff. I have adopted 2 shih tzus (not full breed) from the SPCA. They were abuse cases and they have been a little work because they are afraid of people. I have wanted a dog for a long time but honestly thought it was just too expensive the way vet fees are going up. But, I took the plunge anyway but was still worried about the expense. The good Dr. has alleviated my financial worries because I think she has asked for a reasonable fee. A fee that has saved 2 little abused scared doggies. A fee that has given me 2 great little friends and a fee that has given my mom (a 90 year old) someone to hold and adore and care about. Hmnnn . . .life is good. Is this the best clinic ever? No. Is this place amazing for the cost and care? Absolutely. The clinic is walk-in only, so yes, you will have to wait. They will even tell you that you could be waiting for hours if you ask them. It's not that they're understaffed, but they have a small team of trusted, dedicated workers who do their best to provide the lowest cost for the best care possible. I really commend this clinic for what they do. They try to give their attention to as many patients as possible, and they do their jobs to provide you the low cost you came here for. They really put in a lot of care for your pet(s), too. The people actually are very friendly if you treat them with the same respect and courtesy that you expect back from them. The are always very busy, so forgive them they're on a short fuse. The staff doesn't have time to give you special attention just because you're angry that you have to wait (and you know you have to wait). If you want to complain about the things that aren't up to your standards, go somewhere else and pay for the extra fluff. You can't expect to get a luxury waiting area and extra staff and all the fancy things you find at other clinics if you're paying $15 instead of $55+ for an exam. read more

Sit outside the gate since 6:30am.. waited until someone open the gate. There was a line behind me... so I figured I was in the right spot. The guy that came and open the clinic told me, you have to get in line again this is no the line and you are blocking the entrance, I say man I've been here since 6:30 I have to go to work that's why I show up early. He said no you have to go back and make the line again since you are blocking the entrance. How am I not supposed to blocked the entrance if I was the first person te get here.... Today was my first visit to the clinic. I was recommended by Pet Care Express for their full-service procedures. My cat hadn't gone to the restroom in a week and this clinic treated her with a laxative. I was pleased with the prices (you cant beat a $15 office visit). My only complaint is the lack of signage and direction as to where the OFFICIAL line starts before they open. Cars lined up across the street.. early. I was there half an hour early to be sure and make the front of the line so I could make it into work on time. When the gates open at 8am, a man directs the cars that are lined up along the SAME SIDE of the vet first then the rest. Meaning, if you are parked across the street... you are not in line. So the 2 cars that popped in line last minute made it to #2 and #3 while I was bumped to #5 for not knowing this prior. When I complained inside, a balded man was rude and directed me to leave if I didn't want to stay. Said there USE TO BE a sign mentioning this, but has been removed by neighborhood kids. The Owner and her staff are tremendously loving, hard-working, and of the kind sort/well brought-up. I highly advocate! Hands down THE BEST PLACE that you can take your fur baby! My family and I have been taking our babies here for years because the service is consistent and the prices are more than reasonable. You'll end up paying a portion of what you'd expect to pay at other pet clinics. First things first, this place isn't your everyday definition of pretty, it's kinda old and outdated but once you get past that you'll be alright. (And grow up people, it's a PET CLINIC-there are bound to be potty accidents, most of the animals are scared and/or nervous to be there so cut them some slack!) This place definitely isn't a city secret either, if you've ever tried to be an early bird to get there as soon as they open, then you've seen how people line up on the street to be let in. As mentioned, no place in Houston can beat their prices. Some of the standard costs are: *$15 Office Visit *$5 Nail Trim *$30 Heart worm Test *$20-28 for shots (rabies, parvo etc.) Of course, if the vet prescribes your pup some meds then the prices vary, personally, I've paid anywhere from $5-20 for a prescription. They offer many different types of heart worm prevention meds and meds for flea and tick prevention (Frontline, Advantix, Nexguard, Triflexis, Comfortis, etc.) Of course prices vary by pup weight (they do sell single month doses too!) If you just need to get your fur baby a refill of flea/tick prevention you can simply walk in and go to the front counter and they will help you out. If you are needing a refill for Heart worm prevention, then you WILL need to sign in and wait for them to call you, since they've told me they see heart worm prevention as a prescribed medication. They are open from 8a-5p Mon,Tues, Wed, and Friday. They are only open Saturday from 8a-11:30a, and they are Closed Thursdays and Sundays. Getting there when they open can be helpful but it is ALWAYS PACKED. A few words of warning about parking. The main lot, since it's small, has always been full each time I've gone but you can park on the side of Reid St. (it's the street right behind the building) but make sure you park facing the right way and don't block the fire hydrant because cops are ticket friendly in this area, and they will ticket you if you don't park going the right way, and they will tow if you block a fire hydrant or a business drive way. If you ever need to take your animal babies to get checked up, I highly recommend this place. Wait times do vary, sometimes I've been called within 10 minutes of signing in and sometimes I've waited for about an hour. It really depends how busy they are and how serious the case is that they are treating. Worth a shot and the drive if you don't live near the area. **Tip!! What a wonderful experience I just had. I've been taking my 3 year old dog to Heights Hospital for Animals since he was a puppy. I love them, but they are way too pricey. I always felt it was worth it bc it's by appointment only and it's super clean. However, I've now changed my mind. My grandma passed away and I've kept her year old dog, Bambi. She has always taken her pets to this vet including Bambi, so thought I'd bring him here for his shots. Based on reviews, I was prepared for a long wait. Took only 40 mins to see a tech, not bad at all. She was very sweet and knowledgeable. Quick also. Bambi was done in 15 mins. But the best part was the price. For all his shots, office visit, antibiotic, and trifexis it was less than $200! It would have been about $500 at Heights Hospital! I've decided to make this my dog Copper's clinic. As people have said, it's not a very pretty place and you may have to wait, but it's totally worth it! Prices are incredible and the staff is great. I remember going there with my grandma when I was younger and I recognize some of the staff. That goes to show just how dedicated they are to the clinic and pets. Seriously, I'm impressed. This clinic was such a life saver....for my kitty. You see, we found her near a dumpster, she was first thought to be dead, but after she was picked up, she moved. Her eye was so infected she could barely open it and she had a deep cut near one of her ears (you could see the muscle, it was pretty gross and alarming). She was so sick, she didn't want to eat anything. I had to force feed her milk, despite her being about 9 or 10 weeks old. I took her in on a friday afternoon (9/14), it didn't take long for them to call me up. Within an hour and a half we were out. I took her again for a check-up on monday (9/17) and she had done a complete 180, she was more alive and playful; and she began opening her eye. She also moved up from milk to canned food. Now she's roaming around the house, as if she hadn't been knocking on death's door just a few days ago. The place was clean, but it was old, it's something that didn't bother me much. They take in as many patients as they can, so they might try to fit you in a non-consultation room. They were extremely helpful and gave me syringes (without the needles) to help give my kitty water (she eats ferociously now, but isn't so keen on water). Go after lunch hours if you can. I went in on monday morning around 8:30am, and didn't wait too long either. After reading some reviews, I thought I would have to wait 2 hours, but on average, that's how long each it's taken me to go in and out. It' runs on a first come, first serve basis. The price you can't beat: for an office visit, meds, and a few shots the total so far has been $55 for the both times i've gone. I know I would've had to face charges triple or quadruple the amount at another fancier place. The vet techs and vets were patient and very gentle with the kitty. At first, it was forecasted that her eye could be removed, but after a weekend on eye drop medication she had gotten so much better there was no need. Not in the best neighborhood, but I've traveled from SW Houston (fighting through 610 traffic as well) just for this clinic. Very worth the drive. As someone else said, it's kind of tricky to find it, but look for the faded animals on a fence. read more

After explaining this to him, he became aggressive towards me to the point I felt very unsafe and thought he would hit me, a girl! Very unprofessional! I take all my pets there for any reason, very inexpensive, the associates there are very helpful and caring for the animals, this place is possibly one of the only pet clinic that isn't worried bout cheddar cheese!$$ and the doctor there is very nice and caring for the pets. Do not bring your pets here. My dog is in very critical condition and needed stitches and I called the clinic and they told me to bring him in. After his office visit they said they could not treat him because the surgeon said it was "too much" for her. I've personally worked with several clinics as a teenager and in my 20s and I would work here in a heartbeat. They are truly in it for the love and well being of the animals. I was quoted over $3000 for a procedure for my cat at a clinic off I-10 near shepherd and two other vets suggesting I put her down; after 3 visits totalling only $350 my cat was back to our healthy loving girl. The vet it's self is great. Great pricing, awesome staff. Never had an issue with anything but the parking like everyone else complains about is horrible and obviously wait times! The amount of money you spend at another vet you're basically wasting it on gas waiting to be called and we all know gas right now is outrageous. With the amount of vehicles (trucks included) they cram in that small parking lot is ridiculous. With the amount of ppl they bring in there they ought to have a bigger parking lot and consider doing something about it. Aside from all the ppl waiting to get into the parking lot as ppl leave, DO NOT park in the no parking zone across the street. You'll see multiple ppl do it after the staff goes inside; after they get the mile long line checked in. On top of ppl already half way in the drive way trying to see which car leaves so they can pull in, you see ppl struggle everyday in this parking lot just getting in and backing up and it's even more hard when they close and they close the front gate leaving you with one way in and one way out with a bunch of idiots parked across the street behind you, beside you and everything in between. They'll even be cars in the middle of the street behind the vet just parked there while you're trying to get out. It's fucking ridiculous!!! To the customers just be extra careful b/c this parking lot sets you up for hitting ppl (I wanna say at least 1 person gets hit a day or every other day b/c of their parking situation, the day will come when you hit someone) and then once you hit someone (a small bump is all it takes and some paint scratch later) they act like the worlds gonna end like it was purposely done & to the vet staff, I hope you read this and consider expanding your parking in the near future b/c for the love of God y'all really need it! read more

They misdiagnosed my dog!!! I took her 4 different times for them to continue to tell me she had an infection and continue the antibiotics. Decided to get a second opinion somewhere else because she would get better, worse then better again. Come to find out, my dog has cancer!!! Dr. Mares and her staff are dedicated to providing the best possible care in a low-cost clinic, and IMHO, the care is amazing considering the costs. It's true that the wait times can be long on occasion, which is unavoidable because it is first-come, first-served, but the technicians are some of the best trained that I've ever seen and she is wonderfully knowledgeable, dedicated, warm and idealistic. I asked once how they can practice with such good quality and reasonable prices, and she explained that she grew up around there; after she earned her license, she wanted to give back to the community. I've been taking my fur babies in there for eleven years, sometimes with life-threatening illness or serious (but non-emergency) injuries. Also, I've noticed that even after this long into the pandemic, and before it, I keep seeing the same technicians and other support staff year in and year out. That says a lot. read more

When we've gone we get there about 6am to be first in line. Once we're in, we're out within few minutes. They are quick and to the point. Although we went once about 2pm-3ish spent 2 hours waiting. My nephew went here to get an examination for his dog who's eye had been injured. They came back and told him it would need to be removed which was as expected. Majority of our frustration comes from the fact that he was unable to pay for the surgery at this time so my husband and I agreed to do so. We live in Austin, the clinic is in Houston no biggie we will call and make the payment over the phone, take the dog in- done deal. WRONG. They absolutely refused to take any sort of payment over the phone, even with verification of identity sent via fax- nothing. The office manager decided to talk to me like I was stupid and tell me about Western Union and how they work. My bad for trying to assist a family member whose dog has lost a ton of weight after being stolen from the back yard, and then his eye was injured to the point of no return while in that persons possession. You all did a great job of stressing how important it was to get this addressed ASAP, and acting somewhat concerned. I get the fact that people are dishonest and fraudulently use credit cards, but normally they are not willing to provide whatever verification you request. Thanks for not actually working with a young man who attempted to get financial help for his dogs surgery since he couldn't afford it. Dr Mares and staff are great! She is an excellent diagnostician and is always cost conscious. She does not run up costs just to make money!. If she feels she doesn't need a test she doesn't do it. Other vets do them 1st, then diagnose based on results which always cost you more. Clinic is old, beat up and ugly...but, if you want an excellent vet who cares about animals and your ability to take care of it...she is your vet. I can't say enough about North Loop Pet Clinic. Please read my previous review regarding our beloved cat Bubba and the nightmare we endured at Kingsland Blvd. Animal Clinic in Katy. This is the follow-up on what we did with Bubba. So after two weeks of being treated for a urethral blockage we once again heard Bubba moaning under a bed. After speaking to Dr. Evil @ Kingsland Blvd Animal Clinic & she again wanted to charge us her ridiculous and expensive fees of about $900 (which I of course declined) She didn't even offer a discount being that she had just treated him 2 weeks prior. I decided to do some extensive research online and find an alternative place. Low and behold I came across some great reviews on North Loop Pet Clinic. It was clear across town but, that didn't matter to me. All I wanted was our baby to get treated and not suffer for another second. I called as I was driving and they said they didn't take appointments because it was a first come first serve kinda place. Ok, no problem I told them I was on my way. Upon arriving there I noticed quite a bit of cars parked outside this modest clinic. We walked in & were immediately greeted. We signed in and waited about 30 minutes for our name to be called. We had the pleasure of dealing with Dr. Mares. She was very sweet, a no nonsense kind of woman who explained in detail what was going on with Bubba. She said she would unblock him which would take a few minutes to do. She gave me the option to keep him overnight or not. That was only to see if it would happen again. I went ahead & opted to keep him there overnight and picked him up 24 hours later. Thankfully he was urinating just fine so, he was ready to go home. For his visit, overnight stay, pain medication, and a prescription for special diet food my bill came out to a total of $130. Yes, you read that right, $770 LESS than what Dr. Evil wanted at Kingsland Blvd Animal Clinic. Bubba was taken care of and we didn't have to go into debt over it. I now only take our animals here to see Dr. Mares! It's clear that her heart is in the right place, she genuinely wants to help animals without charging people an arm & a leg.
