There seems to be a strong undercurrent so the first two feet are safe and then it drops down where the waves hit and you can easily be belly or chest deep. It looks hard to get out if you get that far in. Many beachgoers were tanning or lounging under tents and sunshades. Some were drinking. There's a small rock formation I walked to where people were fishing. There is some fishing along the beach as well so be careful as you walk. The shells are mostly small fragments. There are some larger ones. Nothing worth keeping today. The showers on the way out to the parking lot helped me clean my flip flops. Looks like public bathrooms too near the lot. Nice place to walk and people watch.

There's no parking, but down the street is public parking so we dropped off our stuff here with me and my husband parked. I love these kind of beaches that are off the beaten path. It's the true definition of beach, beach, chill, and relaxed. Since this is not Siesta Key, the sand is quite different. There are a lot of sand pieces and it feels a lot like gravel. But I'm not looking for that powder sand, I'm looking for the chill beautiful all natural which this is it!

Right on the beach with easy access, they provide chairs and kayaks if you want to use them. The property is old, but very well maintained. The staff, mainly Karen is friendly and accommodating. The apartment is clean, the appliances are up to date. Perfectly suited for lazy days spent at the beach. We didn't move our car the entire weekend. We brought in food from the Publix nearby and saved time and money from the usual dining out scene. We will keep this resort on our defiantly return list.

This launch ramp is on the Gulf…read moreIntracoastal Waterway just north of the Albee Rd Bridge and roughly 3/4 mile from the Venice jetty. It's also easy to access in your vehicle since it's only 1 mile west of the 41. It's actually located on Casey Key. On an inlet, nicely sheltered from the wind, the boat ramp has two paved launching lanes. Courtesy docks are located on both sides of the launching lanes. The docks and pilings are well-maintained. You'll find them to be in excellent condition. The parking area will accommodate 25 to 30 boat trailers. While the ramps are paved, please note that the parking area is packed sand and not asphalt. Further to the north, passed the boat launch ramp, is a small grassy area with picnic tables and a view of the intracoastal waterway. To the south of the boat ramp is a small sandy kayak launch. It serves as an ideal launch and retrieve area for boaters with a paddleboard or kayak. Tromp line, if you're launching in the Nokomis area, this public ramp should be on your shortlist of facilities. Safe boating!
