We visited Manasota Key Beach this past weekend and only stayed for a little while because it was getting so incredibly packed. We were lucky enough to find parking pretty quickly and close to the walkway to the beach. We started walking towards the beach and as soon as we got out of the mangroves, we saw how busy it actually was. It was tricky finding a spot on the beach, but we did a little down the way. The water was still freezing, even though it was super hot outside and people of course were looking for shark teeth everywhere. I found a few teeth until my shifter broke and decided to stay for a little longer and then headed towards Siesta Key. It was so busy as soon as we left someone filled our spot. It is a beautiful beach and definitely worth a trip if you haven't been. read more

This local beach is one of my favorites. When you want the convenience of amenities such as a restroom, water fountain (with filtered water bottle refill feature), showers to clean off sand after, and a short walk to the beach from the parking lot this is the spot. I enjoy the nearby adjacent parking as well as the facilities here. The walkway/concrete surrounding the building is embedded with sharks teeth of varying sizes and even a few megladon teeth! Speaking of sharks teeth, I always find a good amount at this beach which I enjoy. I like the vibe here and I look forward to my days spent here. I will continue to patronize this beach. read more

I visited Manasota last weekend to hunt for some shark teeth. Boy did we hit the jackpot! We started at Caspersen, but our luck was much better for shark teeth down by Manasota. We spent about 2.5-3hrs scooping and sifting. We rented our sand rake from Sharky's on the Pier for $10 and returned at the end of the day. I will be back soon!! It was super clean, calm, and empty! Everyone there was hunting for teeth too. Very cool experience. read more

we had a great experience here. plenty of free parking which is very hard to find where I live in swfl. they had a nice beach and tons of people were looking for shark teeth. we had some sand sifters and ended getting almost 30 teeth. nice outside showers to wash off when you are done. read more

Now this is a beach! With a huge free parking lot, across the road, but just steps away from the beach. They have huge rest/change rooms, body/foot showers, lifeguards, and the crowd is respectful to one another. The beach water was too cold for early March (72°) but the air temp was 75° and we got some good sun. Lots of sheltered picnic tables to enjoy a meal. read more

I'm officially in love with this beach!! I had heard about the shark teeth to be found there but I didn't know just how beautiful it is and how much I'd enjoy the area. There's a huge parking lot and it's free parking- usually you can find a spot anytime of day. Also a nice building with bathrooms, gazebos to sit out at and showers to rinse off. The color of the water here is that gorgeous emerald/ teal colors and it's just mesmerizing, it's hard to even fully capture on pictures but it's truly a marvel. This is one of my favorite beaches to swim at. It's so much quieter than other beaches and it's so relaxing which only makes me love it even more. And of course, they are very known for shark teeth, and this is one of the most fun things/ beach activities ever, in my opinion. It doesn't matter how many times I go, it's always so entertaining and addicting and it never gets old. I take every person I can talk into it to go looking for shark teeth and not one hasn't loved it. And in my experience Manasota Key has been the best beach to find shark teeth, I've been to most of the beaches nearby where you can find them but have not found as much consistently like I have here. If you do want to find shark teeth you can certainly find them just with your hands searching through shells like I did my first time, but I would definitely recommend getting some kind of strainer/ mesh wire tool to use. You can buy them at a lot of the local hardware stores. When you come to this beach you'll see literally every local carrying one or already digging through the water and sand with them. This is one of my top beaches and I would sooo highly recommend if you can go here!!! read more

Great beach that has a large parking lot and a huge expanse of white sand. The swimming here is great since the water level doesn't drop quite as quick from shore and the bottom is very sandy. Not as great for seashell collecting compared to other local beaches. Nice, big facilities are onsite including bathrooms, snack shack (closed when we visited), and a covered pavilion for picnics. Come early because this place gets packed but since it offers a bigger parking lot than other local beaches, you might have better luck here than at other beaches like Englewood or Stump Pass. read more

We "heard" like everyone else, come to this beach for shark teeth! It is a very nice beach regardless of shark teeth and being an "east coast Florida" girl, I liked the shells here! Yes we found shark teeth but we've found shark teeth in St. Augustine, Jax., Fernandina Beach so that wasn't all that exciting to us but there were serious shark teeth hunters out...lol! This beach has an expansive shoreline. You have two access points from Englewood, Manasota Blvd. and Beach Ave. I enjoyed driving across the landscape. Blindpass has free parking but it is closer to the road and a narrower shoreline than the Ocean Blvd. access. The later location requires paid parking. It also has a bunch of eateries. read more

We were in town for a week and wanted to try the various beaches in the area. This beach is nice - lots of parking, facilities, and a large wide beach with plenty of room between the parking lot and the water. The sand is very dark - probably from the ground up shark's teeth that can be found along the shoreline. But the darker color makes it SUPER hot on a sunny day - we were running back to the parking lot when we tried to do it barefoot! The water is great here - clean shoreline, no big rocks. Parts of the beach are hard to walk on due to areas of heavy shells, but for the most part it is beautiful sand. This turned out to be one of our favorite beaches of our trip. Don't forget to come out here after dinner - the sunsets are beautiful! read more

I highly recommend going here if you want to find shark teeth! One of the best beaches I've been to in search of teeth. Look right where the waves break at the shore line and sift through the sand, shells, and pieces. Be careful to look closely because they can be very small. It also is still a very beautiful beach with clear water and nice sand. There is also free parking and nice bathrooms to change at. read more

Great beach with facilities. Easy to find many shark teeth at the water's edge or using SCUBA just offshore. Walk a couple hundred feet north or south to get more privacy. Lots of turtle nests ( and the resulting hatchlings) read more

We were in Florida during the month of February. The west coast was experiencing red tide which made beach going very difficult. However, I visited the bathroom before we left and it was disgusting. No toilet paper and very dirty. read more

Awesome hidden gem! Shark teeth ahoy! Many folks down here searching, digging, sifting through the sand finding these little fossils. We spent about 3 hours in 107° temps having fun finding the treasure. Yes it was BURNING hot but it was worth it. Gotta get to the parking lot early, especially on weekends, beach gets packed. My grandparents have been living in the Englewood/Venice area for over 25 years. And I have been going to visit them since I was an infant, at least once every two years. Since I have been old enough to appreciate a beach, I've been going to the Manasota Beach. This place is incredibly special to me, and is the location of many, many memories. It is clean, never overcrowded, and beautiful. Surrounded by tall grasses and trees, the beautiful houses blend in well with nature - no huge towering condo complexes here. This is also the perfect area to hunt for shells and sharks teeth. Being rather shallow for several yards also makes this a great beach for us non-swimmers. Plus there is typically a life guard on duty. There is also a bathroom area that is kept very clean and is great for changing. Additionally there are spray towers near the parking lot to get all that sand off instead of tracking it all inside your car. If you go, slather on the sun screen, bring a bag to put shells in, and one to put trash in - and keep the beach beautiful for years to come. read more

Not the place to feel the sand between your toes. A great place to go to collect fossilized shark teeth. So great in fact the the sand is dark from the ground black fossils. The shells here are somewhat crushed, so they are really only good for cutting your feet on. For better shells head to Ft Meyers. I personally love the sport of hunting for shark teeth but the problem with dark colored sand is that it absorbs the heat and burns your feet. The parking here is horrible. There are a couple covered picnic areas which you can pay in advance to reserve,however pay or not, if you are here on a Sunday a huge crowd of AA members will come fight with you and tell you that you that 200 Alcoholics are about to crash your birthday party and they don't care that you reserved the picnic area. Probably not a beach I will come back to with all the better options in Florida. read more

My kids love this beach! We just moved to the area and it's great that it's only 5 minutes away. We have only been on weekdays but have found it to not be overcrowded and parking was easy. Beautiful beach and it's an awesome place to find shark teeth. We found 30+ shark teeth in a little under an hour. There are a lot of shells as well, which makes the sand a little rougher. Also, the sand is a bit darker (compared to Clearwater), so the sand does get very hot. The water was fairly clear and beautiful. There is a large restroom area near the parking lot a good number of picnic tables and shade as well as outdoor showers. read more

This beach is only 1.5 miles away from my home, but having lived here for 38 years, I just don't really go to the beach much anymore. With Michele visiting here from Arizona, she wanted to see the nearest beach so I took her there. We do get some fabulous sunsets here, but last night was not one of them. Also, the way they changed the parking, now you need a HANDICAP STICKER if you want to park right near the beach, all the others have to walk through mud and puddles to get back to their cars. Too bad, but as a beach it's still a lovely place! read more
