Walkway down to mushy bay shoreline
Nick S.

Lovely park in Englewood area. Butterfly garden. Dog allowed on leash. Water views but of intercoastalish bay and a bit mucky when I was there so for the beach head elsewhere. But links up to legacy trail for hiking or running. There's a nature center and some interesting signage for naturists. We enjoyed our visit. Thanks.

It is a great park with nice walking trails. Trails are fairly well marked. Be on the lookout for eagles.

The Gulf and harbor views are gorgeous and inviting. The path is flat once you navigate the two draw bridges. It takes you along a shaded trail where you can see armadillo and colorful iguana and lots of birds from ospreys in nests to egrets, herons, ibis and maybe an eagle. Stop and enjoy some island shopping, drinking and eating in the village of Boca Grande. Or ride straight through to the Gasparilla Island State Park and see more of the shoreline and lighthouse. Keep to your side if the trail ad you will be sharing the pavement with electric carts, which are abundant on the island. Dogs welcomed on trail, too.

Should you arrive by private jet, the former Rotonda International Airport (now hailing as Coral Creek Airport) is just a short jaunt down the road. Very low profile.
