I'm very happy to recommend the insurance agents at NCFA, especially Brette! Brette picked up right away when I called, listened to my situation, and quickly got me on the right track to getting insured by 1/1/2018. Within 15 mins of getting on the phone with her, she was able to guide me through the process of buying health insurance through the Covered California Health Insurance marketplace and two hours later, I was insured. Really positive experience with this group!
Story time:
I was two days away from the Covered California deadline, I had already done my research into which insurance plan I wanted, and I thought that it would take me 30 minutes to fill out the online application. This is also the first year I was buying health insurance for myself.
I was so wrong about the 30 min application. I went online to covered california and added the two plans I wanted to my cart, created a new account, started filling out the application, and then got stuck on the part where I'm supposed to verify my identity. The webpage didn't show me any questions to answer and just said that it couldn't verify my identity. I called Covered California, sat on hold for 15 mins, spoke to a representative who told me to submit supporting documents, went online to try and submit supporting documents, and ended up not seeing the button the instructions online told me to look for ( I clicked on all of the buttons searching for this specific button). I tried live chatting an agent, waited 25 mins waiting for an agent to come online, and then was told that I need to verify my identity in person at some store-front. So then I went and tried to find a store front close to my work. Called a couple of places that told me I needed to make an appointment for a far off date, then called North County Financial Associates. Almost as soon as I called, Brette picked up. It was great! At this point, I was getting really nervous that I wouldn't be able to get insured before the deadline.
I explained my situation, she told me that she would be able to submit my supporting documentation for me if I designated their group as my agent. I went online and did that and she was immediately able to find my file and began walking me through the process. It was determined that I didn't need to go through Covered Cal for health insurance, but it was easier to bundle the health and dental insurance I wanted if we did. She filled out an application for me and sent me an e-mail confirmation for my first premium payment. The entire process was so easy and smooth because of her. I'm so glad that I ended up calling them! You can tell because I also immediately went online and reviewed them on yelp ;)
They get paid a commission from the health insurance companies for helping people sign up for insurance, and there's no added cost to the customer for this service.
I always thought that insurance agents are for elderly people who have a difficult time navigating the online process, but clearly I was wrong! They are also for younger people who also can't navigate the online process!
I am also happy to report that there was no up-selling or sales pitch throughout the entire interaction. This may have been because I knew exactly which plan I wanted and how much it was supposed to cost. read more
