You can book by the day or a week at a time. I booked a day since we were approaching the end of her stay here. I will say I was hesitant at first to leave my 12 year old niece for the day camp from a water safety perspective, but that perspective changed quickly as I stood and heard how thorough the camp takes safety (even sunburns!). The kids are given water safety techniques with respect to the local wildlife and ground rules are discussed at length. I quickly realized I picked the right surf camp. My only regret is that we hadn't signed up earlier and for a longer period. Ideally I would have signed my niece up for the week long surf camp. But there's always next summer I would highly recommend A-Frame surf camp!

Plus I happen to see the kiddos summer camp surf lessons at Santa Claus beach. Some classes require beginner attend their introduction class before proceeding to a practical class, and the classes are set in different days and charged separately. I found the surfing class in Surf Adventures is a very authentic, price-worthy option for me as a beginner who wants a quick result in learning surfing. Although in the beginning, the Surf Adventures miscommunicated the change of location, the staff reached me right away and committed to giving me a complete 2-hour, fully experienced class despite the class has been delayed for 45 minutes. Patrick is the best, I hurt my foot during surfing and barely can walk, he gave me first-aid and helped me got to my car and made sure I can drive home before he left. I would recommend the surfing class to a beginner.

However, her staff called me immediately that I owed about $7-$8 for a snack and toy after my debit card was lost and the charge didn't process. By then, I was owed over $1000 in special needs recreational funding that this school would not process, but they gave me one day to pay when the debit card was reported lost, and the $7-$8 didn't go through. This is a true story-and even the staff member seemed uncomfortable saying I had to pay when she knew I was owed a lot of money in funding due to their failures. Then, months later, another staff member offered me one month of free tuition for all of our trouble due to the discrepancies in the financials and my constant attempts to get ahold of someone. Then, get this- they came back and reneged on the free tuition and demanded the one month of tuition and said I must pay it. I said you offered me one free month's tuition, and I am now about $1100 in funding that is missing due to your own failures to file. They wouldn't even upload a simple tax document (very telling) for 8 months, until Aveanna's (a 3rd-party) finance department conducted another investigation with a higher-up in the claims department. Even then, they still never bothered to upload the rest of the financials. Then they BANNED my autistic 7-year-old from swim lessons because I didn't pay the one month that they offered for free, then reneged without notice, when I was owed at least $1100 in funding and was now chasing a 3rd party to investigate their financial claims when they refused to respond to me and to my caseworker. My RC caseworker, who supports children with special needs, told me he can't keep calling them to no avail. He had numerous other special-needs clients to contact and really tried to support us. But as soon as I write a bad review on Yelp, Leslie comes running. Had she made ANY attempt to contact me and express remorse over how things went down (even if I never get paid back, just say sorry or acknowledge what happened-some communication from her), this review never would have been posted. I didn't know this woman existed until this review hit; now she's accessible. My autistic child is STILL BANNED from this swim school for me not paying one month's tuition that was offered for free after I was in the hole of maybe $1100 plus in lost funding. I had to explain to her why she can't go, and she cried thinking she did something wrong while I waited for another swim school's waiting list for special needs clients to open. Thanks! This is literally the only negative review I've ever written.

After just one meeting with Jason, we were convinced that he was the right person to assist us in this process. Jason's ability to articulate his procedure was beyond impressive. Constant staff turnover - Currently the principal, treasurer, and athletic director tenured their resignations for the end of the school year and there are no replacements lined up to fill the vacancies. The teacher lined up to be the new science instructor decided not to take the job so a volunteer parent will continue teaching the class for the third year. This is par for the course since the soccer, baseball, and track teams are all coached by parents and not the athletic director. 2. The school only hires Adventist teachers so even if the most qualified candidate is a devout Christian they are barred from working at the school because they are not of the Adventist faith. 3. The state of the building is in disrepair. Ventura County Health Dept reports show constant rodent and feces infestations. (I have linked the health inspection reports below) Even worse is the staff housing located directly behind Home Depot. The homes are in such poor condition the health department was forced to perform a surprise inspection last summer due to an open sewer running out of one of the homes carrying urine and feces into the front yard. If you are considering the Academy I encourage you to tour the staff housing behind Home Depot. 4. The school is often used as a "dumping ground" for troubled students expelled from other public and private schools. In 2026, a student called in violent threats against staff and students necessitating police intervention. Below is the e-mail to parents from the principal about the threat. "Dear NPAA Families, I learned early this morning that several parents have heard via police scanner about a student who has threatened NPAA's physical plant. This threat therefore involves student and staff safety. Of course, this incident is alarming, and their concern is understandable. However, since rumors fly quickly -- and change in shape and detail and intensity as they travel -- I want to inform the NPAA community what is happening so as to prevent the rumors from worsening. First of all, and most important for the safety of students and staff, I asked the student's parents to keep their student at home until further notice. They have agreed to do so, starting today. In the mean time, I have stayed in touch with local law enforcement. Yesterday afternoon I sat with deputies from the Ventura County Sheriff's Department. I have a case number that I can use to update authorities on developments. NPAA administration have notified the school's governing body, the Southern California Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, of these developments, and we are in constant contact with officials there. Again, the student's family will keep the student home until further notice. The family will continue their work with a team of professionals who follow the student's progress daily. If you looking for a school where you child can be a big fish in a little pond then look no further. There are approximately 35 kids in each grade. Excellent individual attention in a Christian environment. Kids are kind and accepting and lift each other up. Teachers are available everyday after school to work with the kids and to ensure their success. We could have been happier to discover this great gem in Newbury Park, Thousand Oaks.
