He said he's heading up to NorCal later this week, so we're already sad we won't have him next time. He kicked things off with about 30 minutes onshore, rules, safety just learning the basics and getting our balance, then it was straight into the waves. And yes, everyone actually stood up and surfed! The kids thought they knew the ocean from boogie boarding, but this was a whole new level of fun. Lots of wipeouts, tons of laughs, and those "I can't believe I just did that" moments. Eric, the owner, was awesome too, quick with texts, super helpful with any little hiccups, and just made it all easy. Such a fun, unforgettable experience. But then it got weird. Feeling out of place with the group, I must have said something awkward that was misunderstood by Tom. When I asked about switching days to make up my monthly classes and to credit that I had already paid for, he disqualified me and said he no longer wanted to work with me. I was genuinely hurt. I really wanted to learn and he made me feel like I was this terrible person for saying something that was misunderstood. I still remember how bad my experience was, that I'm afraid to go out and try again . Maybe I would have "clicked better with a women instructor, but Tom was mean and hurtful.

It was money well spent. Camp is only a week long, they provide lunch, sunscreen, top of the line wetsuits, hats, and surfboards. I do wish they provided itinerary for the day. I missed his performance in the surf competition the last day. I highly recommend giving your child this experience. They offer scholarships and one on one lessons.
