Obviously, this isn't the fist scary train station story I've heard (having lived in Frankston) but on my first occasion there twice people asking for money approached me and some punk kids were throwing things at each other hitting patrons around them. Wasn't pleasant and me being afraid of it already didn't help. My local train station is usually Ripponlea on the Sandringham line and I like that station a lot more...

This station is pretty tacky, but then again I suspect that it is one of the newer stations in…read moreMelbourne, relatively speaking of course. Mind you, Moorabbin isn't one of my favourite suburbs in Melbourne, there just doesn't seem to be all that much here. Hey, at least the trains are regular, and you can even catch some express ones as well, which is certainly quite handy. Still, as a station, it doesn't particularly stand out all that much.

However, even though it is close to a rather nice shopping strip, the station itself really isn't all that great. Unstaffed, and there doesn't appear to be any restrooms either.

Beaches near railway stations can be both a blessing, and a curse. Namely because they are easy to…read moreget to, but also because it is easy for everybody else to get to as well. So, this is basically one of those beachside railway stations, that also happens to be the end of the line, which means that all of the trains that end up here end up terminating. The station itself is rather nice, one of those older stations that, no doubt, goes back to the days when people would generally catch the train to the beach, namely because nobody actually owned a car.
