There's also an area where you can do hills for a workout, and a couple of trails that lead out various ways! There are cyclists on the trail as well, so be mindful as you are out there to keep your ears open for when they come behind you. There is one restroom that is like an outhouse so make sure to use the restroom before you come, but if you want to use the porter potty there is one right when you enter the gate on the right hand side. This place is great to bring your family out to have a nice Picnic or just to take some nice photos as well. I love coming here. I do feel safe but when you come out here, please try to at least bring someone with you so that you have a partner as you work out. There's also wildlife out here please do not touch. There are signs out as to where the wildlife may be at so be mindful. And in the meantime, enjoy the atmosphere of being outside in the elements.

I could barely hear my thoughts, so I definitely bring some earbuds or headphones if you come here for a walk/run. Not only that, it's busy and the park had a lot of mud due to poor drainage. I was disappointed with this place although it was so busy. Lastly, the park doesn't have good lighting for the nighttime so be careful and don't get too far from the parking lot after sunset.

For the most part the trails are decently maintained. They do have signs with trash bags that state "------". But you are not obligated to do so, just make sure to do your part and clean after your own mess. If you come during the colder months, there's less foot traffic therefore less garbage on the trails. There are signs along the path that shows the wildlife that you may see roaming around. Around the pond is an open area with picnic tables... which is perfect on warm summer days (make sure to bring plenty of bug spray). A portion of the trail opens up to a nice view of the Elm Fork Trinity River. Be careful not to fall down the steep cliff into the river because there is no guard rails in place. There is no entry free, but the path to the parking area is very steep so be careful if you have a lowered car or any sports car. Overall, a great park with decent trails!

It seems that on Friday evenings there is a group of people who do happy hour at a local establishment then come to the Addison Dog Park with their dogs. I'm sure the doggies are very sweet as individuals, but as a pack coming every Friday evening they sort of think they own the place, ie: pack mentality and new dogs are not welcome. One of the guys who seems to be in charge of the group of people who coincidentally has the alpha dog of the pack tried to re-assure me that after a few more trips my dog would be comfortable to join the pack. There didn't seem to be much improvement the rest of the night though so I will just avoid this place on Friday evenings and perhaps you should do the same. Having said that Friday nights aside Addison has a nice dog park. It is tricky to find as it is located just south of Belt Line down Midway, sandwiched between an apartment complex and a group of office buildings that look more like buildings you would find on a college campus. The easiest way to access the dog park is to turn into the parking lot of a restaurant/small strip shopping place right before you get to Proton road and the hotel. It is definitely tucked away!! The dog park really has no tree coverage but has beautiful, lush grass. It is nice to find a dog park with lush grass. There is a section for big dogs and one for small dogs and both sections are good sized. They have plenty of doggie bag dispensers and a couple of benches and trash cans. It seems to be frequented with lots of various dogs but isn't too crowded. There is also a water fountain at the level of the dogs so they can get a drink. I think that the Keller Springs dog park is more popular than this place but Addison's dog park is nice and worth visiting. Just beware of Friday evenings.

I do recommend bringing bug spray because we got bit a few times. It is neat to see that a city will put on a spectacle such as this because the park was completely packed with smiling faces.

The playground looks like a castle, which is pretty cool. As good as it is, there was one thing I wasn't aware of. It's next to a school and the school uses the playground at recess. So our first 20-30 minutes there we had it to ourselves (almost), but then wave after wave of kids came over from the school. It wasn't a problem, but our 3 year old isn't used to playing and sharing with 4th and 5th graders. Oh well, it was fine. Still a good playground, would recommend.
