I called a variety of agencies but once I connected with custom it just felt right. Sheila scheduled a visit while in rehab and then home visit before he transitioned home. Their advice, reccomendations and everything has been stellar. They are able to accomodate needs quickly and have a large, excellent pool of caregivers. They were able to provide male caregivers as well which was a major plus. We have used custom for about 4 months now and it only gets better. The caregivers have ALL been professional, knowledgeable and people you feel very comfortable leaving alone with my neighbor. Each one has been outstanding in keeping me informed and I know my friend is watched out for and safe. If you researching these options I understand how stressful and discouraging it can be. Its a very difficult process but I can assure you that custom has exceeded our expectations. Highest praise and highest respect to EVERY one I have talked to at custom home. They amount of stress that has been removed knowing we chose wisely is the most wonderful feeling ever.

Naomi who is the owner has gone out of her way to respond immediately to anything that we wanted done. When we would call her and explain what it was that was needed in help, within an hour she had 4 or 5 people call me. We were then able to explain our needs to them, meet with them and see what would work for both of us. She did not get annoyed if the needs of ours were not met with these people and she would not hesitate to send over additional people. She always understood what it was that we wanted and as my parents needed more care she was able to provide the right individuals. Once someone was hired she would follow up and be sure that we were both pleased (us as well as the caregiver) and she would check periodically as well. Naomi is caring, responsive, concerned, and on top of all the requirements that you may need. I would highly recommend her and the proof is in the fact that we have repeatedly used her for the past 8 years. The caregiver we have now is from Naomi and has been with us for 3 1/2 years. (Sorry to break your 5-star streak, Sylvie!) The cost is reasonable, and the shift hours are more flexible than other home help agencies. Sylvie was always responsive to any question or concern. When I contacted her with an urgent need for 24-hour care on short notice, she made a herculean effort to fill all the time slots, and came through for us. The agency seems to be highly selective in the caregivers they choose. Not only were the helpers generally more experienced than one finds in other agencies, they also appeared to be well-trained, resourceful, and highly intelligent. My mother has a long history of hostility toward home caregivers, and she did not like all of these caregivers either (although she did click with one of them, and there were a few others she probably could have come to like, given more time). However, I found all of them extremely kind, competent, and capable. My only issue was that some of them did leave a bit of a mess behind and disturbed my mom's impeccable arrangements of linens and other belongings somewhat. A minor matter, and partly my fault, for not leaving better instructions on how to find what they needed. Highly recommended.
