We recently returned from a 12 day private tour of Iceland, couldn't be any happier with Dora Rozet at Nordic Saga and with our guide (now friend), Kári Haraldsson. We travel a lot but have very rarely used a travel agent. This was going to be a more complicated trip, though, as my wife has difficulty walking and we really wanted something more in-depth than the big tour or cruise companies could offer. I researched a lot of travel agencies that specialize in Iceland and Scandanavia, had in-depth discussions with the four front runners. Nordic Saga was an excellent choice. After discussing what we wanted to see, date options and especially my wife's limitations, she put together the perfect itinerary. I don't think any tour could have given us a more in-depth and satisfying Iceland experience. I was thrilled with Nordic Saga's professionalism and reliability and with Dora's skill and responsiveness. We're especially thrilled to have been able to work with Kári, I can't imagine a better tour guide. His warmth and friendliness, his genuine drive to customize our experience to our liking, his flawless accommodation of my wife's limitations and his comprehensive knowledge of Iceland was far beyond anything that we expected. Bobby is unprofessional and difficult to work with, as if modifications to a trip itinerary were more than he should be expected to do. When some of our party had positive Covid tests on the day of departure, he ACTUALLY SUGGESTED that they get on the international flight anyway if they were asymptomatic. After saying he would cancel the flights for those not going on the trip, he did not do so-- we heard names of our absent family members being paged in airports. My food allergy request was not entered either, so I was unable to eat any of the four meals offered on the 2 9-hour trans-Atlantic flights. In more than one instance, changes he claimed to have made to the itinerary ended up not being made at all and we had to make the changes ourselves on site. Of course this incurred expenses we were not expecting. Other issues: Tour guides showed up when we weren't even supposed to be in the town or hotel yet, taxis arrived at the wrong time (even the wrong MONTH for an airport transfer in one case), and he was unpleasant when requests were made, acting as if it was a bother and even hanging up on one of our party and telling them never to call back. Someone who dislikes working with people so much should get out of customer service. Only giving him one star because there's not an option for fewer. DO NOT RECOMMEND. On the other side of the ocean, the trip manager in the Norway office was FANTASTIC and was able to fix most of Bobby's errors, of which there were many. read more

The 'Land of the Fjords' tour was fabulous! Wonderful tour guide (Anne) and coach driver Joron(sorry...spelling real wrong) - and great group of 'fellow'-travelers! We received a wealth of information, the scenery is indescribable and the hotels were first class. We couldn't have asked for a better tour in Norway (We fell in love with Norway and its' people!!). Trip was taken in April. You reply in September. That tells the story. Your response is full of inaccuracies. My group tried on several occasions whilst traveling to contact your company. No response. Nothing. I am not addressing this issue any further. Your organization and delivery of our tour was mostly just passable. We were thoroughly disappointed with our guide. Unqualified, unmotivated and clueless !! We will not be traveling with you in the future. Those whom have booked with you deserve better. Work harder !! read more

Nordic Saga Tours Disappointment Sep 16, 2020, 12:52 PM Saved This last January or so we made plans with this company for a Finland trip over Christmas. They gave me the details, told me the deposit, which I made and although the communication was a bit trying I was happy. About a month later I was informed I owed another $1,000 which I was not prepared for. After speaking with the "manager" we agreed I would pay that by March, which I did - not realizing a week later the pandemic would be all consuming. Although I did purchase travel insurance of course it did not cover this. After many communications with the manager, she said it was way too early to decide and besides that I would not be refunded. She "could" extend a credit for a future trip possible. As its now September and I owe the balance, I had to cancel as I'm sure many have since at this point in time 1) The numbers of sick and dead are still climbing here and we haven't even gotten to regular flu season, aside from the fact that there is no plan to curb it either. 2) Finland is Closed to tourists from the U.S.A. and holds open the possibility of Quarantine for 2 weeks and testing for all. 3) I'm sure the company cannot guarantee that the trip would be as we purchased since activity companies and others scheduled are most likely closed or making changes. 4) We can't guarantee the Airlines will be flying certain days, times, or places to get us to/from in time. The option to use the money as a credit for a trip in the next 2 Years, sounds good initially. but I assume the trip would be quite a bit more Expensive. I also lose my trip insurance and would have to repurchase. I also assume the company cannot guarantee it would be the same trip as I'm sure everything has and will change significantly. Lastly, during that time I will be without that money but the company will be able to use as they want. I'm hoping to do the trip at some point, but who knows if it will happen, when, how and having the money to decide is part of the process. I was told they were keeping my deposit based on my cancellation because they put the money down on hotels and other transportation that wouldn't refund. I know this is not true as I have cancelled 2 other trips due to this pandemic to see family and friends and all Airlines, Hotels, Car Rentals, and even Shuttles refunded with no questions asked (I have proof of this). I have also contacted other tour companies that do touring in the Nordic areas and they are handling things differently. I am a seasoned traveler and work in an industry that handles a lot of travel and understand both sides but companies taking advantage of this pandemic is hard for me to accept. I feel the customer service during the booking process was poor and the handling of this during a unprecedented virus is definitely in bad faith. Susie, We had a good time. Hotels were well chosen (though walking directions from/to train and boat would have helped). We especially enjoyed Kviknes in Balestrand. Oslo and Glacier tours were good, and we found a local celebration in Fjaerland. Connections worked well, though we were disappointed, that, as you discovered, there is no early boat from Balestrand to Bergen on Sundays (in June and July - high season!). It was raining while we had to wait for the evening boat. That was the only hitch. Nice job. - Tom read more

We booked a Northern Lights tour with Nordic Saga in Iceland. It was phenomenal! The booking process was very easy. Our rep, Susie, was very responsive and accommodating. We were on a bus tour, and the bus held 20 people. There were only 10 of us so we had ample room to spread out. Our tour guide, Helgi, was extremely knowledgable. It was like having our own personal Siri or Google! Additionally, he was easy mannered and answered all our questions even though we often asked the same thing twice! I felt very safe in his care. Susie M. was incredibly rude and unprofessional. She immediately asked me for a consulting fee despite not doing anything for me. I asked for a quote before paying her. I waited a week. No quote. I called and she sent me a vague itinerary using incorrect dates. When I supplied the correct dates, she said that because I was "making a change, she could not continue without a consulting fee." I have worked with many different travel agents over the years, and have never had such horrible service. I contacted a competitor and received 2 wonderful options with an itemized quote within a few hours. Don't use this company. read more

Good morning, Anna of NordicSaga! Holly and I have returned from our lovely trip to Scandinavia. We appreciate your working with us to plan it so beautifully. I'd like to offer some feedback--mostly highlights and a few challenges. The hotels you chose were just fine, and you know how wonderful hotel breakfasts are in Europe. The breakfast was especially terrific at the Best Western in Bergen. Yum! The most wonderful hotel was in Ulrik, Norway. We enjoyed an incredible view from our room--water and mountains! The train trips were perfect. The trains were so clean and comfortable. All transportation was excellent, buses and planes included. We made every connection without a hitch. The only challenges we encountered were in Norway with the Hardanger in a Nutshell tour, and while they were not major problems, we think it would behoove you to be aware. We were impressed with how well-orchestrated the connections were. The buses were waiting for us as promised, as were the boats. There was no time for dilly-dallying, as the drivers left right on schedule. When we arrived in Ulvik, we were the only passengers on the bus who stayed in Ulvik; all the other passengers boarded a boat. This confused us, as it was not clear that we had an entire free day in Ulvik! We spent a few hours feeling like we 'missed the boat.' At about 11 am, we began walking up the road to our hotel and fortunately met the owner of the hotel when we asked for directions. He took our baggage to store at the hotel, but we could not check into our room until 1:00 (supposed to be 3:00, but they made an exception). We checked out the hotel and then headed back into town for something to do. There is a lovely church, open to visitors, with a fascinating cemetery on the grounds. We visited the local grocery store and bought snacks for a picnic at a park on the water. Our day in Ulvik turned out to be delightful, thanks to a young woman at the local Tourist Office (We recommend you suggest that people on our plan go to the Tourist Office immediately after departing the bus). She suggested that we walk up to an apple orchard in Ulvik called ulvikfrukt&cideri. We enjoyed an hour round-trip walk to the orchard and a glass of cider once we reached our destination. Another issue in Ulvik was that the hotel had no record that dinner and breakfast were included in our reservation. We showed the receptionist our hotel voucher, and she reluctantly did not charge us extra for meals. That was a little awkward. The incredibly delicious water made up for any misunderstanding. It was the best water I have ever tasted! The next day, June 11, was an incredible day by boat and bus. The waterfall was inaccessible because of a car accident, so we went to a little farm instead. It was just right. At the Hardangervidda Nature Center, we watched an incredible panoramic movie about Norway and ate a delicious lunch at the lodge. The boat trip was incredible! We stopped at several towns to let passengers on and off, getting a flavor of the country. Our bus ride back to Bergen was fine, yet the walk back to our hotel was NOT short. It was about a mile, and with luggage (and we travel light), it was more than we bargained for. I would suggest that people take a cab from the bus station to the hotel. You did a fabulous job connecting us from Copenhagen to Stockholm to Nassjo, back to Stockholm, and onto Bergen. We enjoyed a few days with my relatives in Sweden. Stockholm is my personal favorite city that I've ever visited (Budapest a close second). All the travel vouchers worked, and we felt organized and confident at almost every step of the way.
