The chefs here are truly skilled, and my recommendation is to share a plate for 2 or 3 persons. My favorite is the Tempura Mixed, but if you're feeling fancy (and don't mind spending some extra money), go for the Omakase, and the chef will compose something creative based on whatever is the best ingredients at the time. If you just want to stuff yourself with as much food as possible, or would rather have your maki drowned in chili mayo - or don't really care for the seafood at all - then just go somewhere else. Trondheim has plenty of good all-you-can-eat sushi buffets to offer

We got a cozy table in the corner, but still we did feel a bit surrounded and that other guests were eavesdropping. So we'd better stick to the shallow conversations. Amongst the options of 3, 4 or 5 courses, we chose the full menu, which in general was a good choose. Dishes were tasty, but a few weeks later, I do not remember anything but the grilled peppers. What I do remember, is the very distant and not at all inviting waitress, that saved her smiles for a sunny day. We were three people, leaving quite an amount for wine and food, so I would have expected better service. She personally made my review a 3-star instead of a 4-star.

They serve fresh and flavoursome thai cuisine, and the dishes always taste like they were made from scratch, as opposed to other asian restaurants in Norway, where it is plain that premade curry paste from jars is used liberally... I would recommend one of the curry soups - green, red or tom kha gai, which are all spicy and have a real zing. The noodle woks are often less inspiring and a tad too greasy. Apart from the food, the place doesn't look like much, and you have to collect yor cutlery and glasses from plastic boxes at the till - but this has always been part of the charm to me. The food is also on the cheap side - ca 149NOK for a main course. The location is very central, so if you should find yourself in Trondheim and fancy a flovour fest but don't want to splurge, I can heartily recommend Bangkok Cafe!
