I have been a fan of Bangkok Cafe for several years, and it was my go-to eatery when I was living as a student in Trondheim. They serve fresh and flavoursome thai cuisine, and the dishes always taste like they were made from scratch, as opposed to other asian restaurants in Norway, where it is plain that premade curry paste from jars is used liberally...
I would recommend one of the curry soups - green, red or tom kha gai, which are all spicy and have a real zing. The noodle woks are often less inspiring and a tad too greasy.
Apart from the food, the place doesn't look like much, and you have to collect yor cutlery and glasses from plastic boxes at the till - but this has always been part of the charm to me. The food is also on the cheap side - ca 149NOK for a main course.
The location is very central, so if you should find yourself in Trondheim and fancy a flovour fest but don't want to splurge, I can heartily recommend Bangkok Cafe! read more
