I have been going here for years and I have never had any problems with them. They've always been pleasant, professional and quick.

Rob the owner. Is fast an efficient. Doesn't kick your car door panel and his price is more than reasonable. I'm NorCal forever customer from here on p read more

NorCal Smog - Great service! - Smog Check Stations Near Me - Sacramento, California

Fast, honest, and reliable! NorCal Smog does most of my smog check in the last many years. The two gentlemen there are always doing the work very high efficiency even sometimes they have many customers in there. The longer I have waited is less than 45 minutes. I have the smog check done in 15 minutes in most of the cases. The store is a little dated, but very clean and comfortable. The parking log in front of the store is shared with the shop next to them. It is a little too tiny and the customer turnaround is fast. I don't have much problem getting parking at all. read more

This SMOG shop came highly recommended by my Volvo repair shop SVS. They bring all their cars to be smogged here and I bring my 1992 and 2008 Volvos to be smogged. Reasonable priced, professional, and today I showed up at 4:38 pm and they got me in instead of turning me away since they close at 5:00pm. read more

I have been coming to NorCal smog for the better part of a decade and have never been disappointed. This is a no-nonsense smog shop that gets you in-and-out with zero hassle. Pricing is upfront and clearly shown. No surprises. Their superpower is Consistency. This is -not- the kind of place you should go to if you are expecting a lot of hand-holding, free lavender water or perhaps a foot massage while you wait. The waiting room is rustic and the parking lot is tight. But what you -will- receive is prompt and efficient service with zero BS at a reasonable cost. I admit that a few times in the past I have ventured to other smog shops due to tempting coupons that I've received in the mail. (All were disappointing. Hidden upcharges, opaque pricing that did not match the ad, and generalized shenanigans.) And finally: if you are the jerk that stole the shop's trailer, I hope karma finds you. read more

Came back to see if the catalytic converter reset from the first failed test. The guy checked in the parking lot and said it reset. I went back inside, then noticed he was pulling in the car of a customer who arrived after me and he snapped saying 'because I'm f*cking done with you!' That was extremely unprofessional. I will never bring another car here. read more

Pleasant experience he was very quick and thorough not much waiting. I've been going here for the last few years. Don't go any place else he's he doesn't mess around and gets the job done read more

Great service! Good price. We have a few older cars, pre 1999, and are now taking them all here. My Jeep failed, the owner told me it "might" be a sensor, and it was! Had it fixed and the $10 retest happened without a hitch. Definitely will be recommending them and taking all our cars here for smog from now on. read more

FIve star service. But best thing is how conscientious they are and how they go the extra step. They can teach so many what customer service is all about. Highly recommend. Thanks Chris. read more

In and out baby!! They had me in and out. This place is right next to SS Auto where I had work done, this is where they sent me for a smog. I was out in I think 10 mins. They were really nice, and they are priced well. Other places I talked to were like oh u have an SUV? IT'S $65. Here $50 (as of 11/1/2021) And they had me done. I checked my DMV account about an hour later and it showed my registration was complete and not due until 2022. read more

The best smog station I have been to. Chris, runs a clean efficient shop. Service is prompt - I was in and out in 15 minutes, and that was after Chris and I chewed the fat for 5 mins. Chris also went the extra effort to call me after I had left my sunglasses there. I am taking my car to NorCal Smog from now on, even though I have to pass 25+/- smog stations to get there. Recommending to my entire family as well. Do yourself a favor, get your smog done at NorCal Smog. read more

Today, Chris attempted to SMOG our Ford Escort, but it has a triptonic transmission that is difficult to maintain proper function. We will be taking the car to FORD to have fixed again. High Praise to Chris for doing a great job. read more

If I could leave zero starts I would. Took it to get smoged. They said everything looks great and that my info work be sent to DMV and I wouldn't have to do anything else. Turns out it FAILED and they didn't even tell me. Only realized it when I went to see why it was taking so long for my registration to arrive. These guys cost me 2 weeks in which I could have been getting it fixed or figuring out something. Just absolutely negligible. read more

Quick, efficient technician. Got my car smogged 20 minutes before closing with no issues!

Great service, reasonable prices, in & out in a flash! This is where I always go to get my cars smogged.

Honestly never had a bad experience taking my cars here to get smogged. Even the one time I had a car fail they offer a free retest which a lot of bigger smog places do not. Reasonable price and always in and out pretty quick. You might wait a little while if they are busy but I've never spent longer than 45 minutes in and out. It's rare to find good honestly people, in the auto industry especially. Waiting room has a couch and tv Wi-Fi etc. loyal customer for many years and will continue bringing my cars/recommending people here. read more

I had a great experience here! The guys at Hal's Auto Care (which I also recommend) gave me a coupon and suggested that I should go to NorCal Smog. The prices are fair even without the coupon, so I went. I only had to wait a few minutes. They seem to be taking COVID precautions seriously with signage all around the waiting area, a required mask policy, and a plexiglass guard at the counter. Everyone I saw working on the cars was wearing a mask properly too :) Unfortunately, My Prius failed the first time because someone had cut my O2 wires (trying to steal my catalytic converter). The man at the counter gave me everything I needed to know to pass next time and gave me a stamp for a free retest within twenty days. I came back a couple weeks later with a new O2, and I was in and out in about ten minutes. The same guy helped me both times, and he was awesome! Clear, friendly, helpful, and quick. I would definitely recommend NorCal Smog :) read more

First timer yesterday. Positive experience, I'll be back for sure. The guy told me there would be a possible 45 minute wait as I had two people in front of me. I ended up waiting about 20 minutes and I was out of there! Not much else to say other than great service and props for a nice little waiting area. read more

Chris is always to the point, conversational and the service is quick. I recommend getting your car smogged at NorCal Smog!

Professional and quick! Was in and out in about 15 minutes. Nice, quiet waiting area. Thank you!

NorCal smog is the best in town. I had a question about an aftermarket part and the owner called the manufacturer right there and then. Also, looked up the "legal" part for me and found one on EBay for 120 bucks cheaper than the dealer. Note: If you're trying to pass non CARB approved add-ons, this is not your shop! read more

Got in and out with a passing smog in under 20 minutes and the gentlemen was polite. Can't ask for more.

Smog check and anything to do with DMV is always a pain in the a**. Make it easier to go through the motions by checking out Nor-cal for your smog. They have a waiting room and tv and they work quick and effeciently. Fill out the paperwork wait or come back and pick it up - either way expect it to get done. No B.S. excuses, just a good guy doing his job. Thanks Chris! I'll be coming back for all my future smog checks. read more

Fast and friendly service! I stopped by when it wasn't busy, and my smog was completed in less than 15 minutes. They have a nice, clean waiting area. The owner (?) was also kind and professional. read more

Besides the fact that DMV has set certain emission standards for older vehicles aka: No Smog requirements and higher standards for newer more environmentally friendly vehicles which requires an owner of a newer vehicle to adhere to such State standards which also includes footing the bill for smog checks every couple of years I have been able to and on my maiden voyage to this shop none the less been able to fulfill my tax payer duty and was back on the road having "passed" with my 05 Tahoe smogged in under 15 minutes. I also want to note that I located a $10 off the cost of the smog coupon on their website thanks to a fellow reviewers tip which brought my out the door total; including the certificate of completion to $48 and they electronically transmit your pass cert directly to the State of California too which may be common these days but I don't know as I don't keep up with such things. Located off of Fulton Avenue in the Arden Arcade area I was really pleasantly surprised with the great speedy service I received and the minimal amount of time invested especially since I did not have an appointment. In my books that's worthy of my business. read more
