Great service!!! Call before you go that way you can get in and out. Price is what you pay for your time, my time is valuable and willing to pay. I have been going to this shop for years and will be going back!!! Thanks guys read more

Have been going for the past 10 years. Great service, efficient, and will be going again for the next smog service.

Fast and great services, In and out within 20 mins. Pricing is also really good here.

My car had obviously been sitting for a while and had a new battery, meaning it couldn't be tested. Rather that tell me that upfront, they decided to scam me out of 50 bucks and have me come back to charge me an additional $20. When I brought this up the mechanic was literally screaming at me about the "rules" and the "law"- I didn't ask him to violate either and just pointed out that not asking an obvious question was poor customer service. Like you're the mechanic my guy- how am I supposed to know that the computer resets and it can't be tested right away? One of the worst customer service situations I've ever encountered and the fact that the mechanic could barely string a coherent sentence together wasn't helping either. Stay away- I only gave them a 1 star review because it's the lowest Yelp will allow. read more

I have been going to this business for at least eight years, but probably more. Same car. Never had an issue until last week. On or around August 20, 2026, I went in for a smog check. I was informed that it failed to connect with OBD II and RPM not detected. They said it could be a wire or a relay or maybe even trouble with the transmission and they could not pass me for smog. They suggested that I go to a mechanic that they recommended, Cook's or something like that. They said, if I got the issue fixed and came back within thirty days, they would charge $20.00 more to get the smog cert. I said that I have a mechanic that I love and trust. I called my mechanic as soon as I got home and got an appointment for August 24, 2026. Well, I went in first thing that day, and they said the OBD II port read normally. They were actually able to give me a smog test there, and it passed. I should have went to my regular mechanic for my smog cert in the first place. I didn't realize I could. Silly me! Now, my mechanic did mention that one of the pins was pushed further back in and so they used a longer connector to get to it. I don't know if Cap City got newer equipment or something. But I won't go back there anymore because it seems wrong that I had to pay $53.81 and didn't even get a smog certificate when there's really nothing wrong with my car. Yes, one of the pins was pushed further back in, but seems like they should have been able to figure that out. This caused a lot of worry and stress for me. I know that stress is just part of life, but this was totally unnecessary. I'm just grateful that I got my smog cert, and that there is nothing seriously wrong. read more

It's a two-man show, but they are fast, efficient, and thorough. Without me asking or doing a yelp check in they automatically gave me the $10 discount. They have two prices, cash and car price. card prices are the 3% that they have to pay to cover their credit card imposed cost. read more

Cap City Smog - Clean, fast, and efficient. - Smog Check Stations Near Me - Sacramento, California

Great service nice people my van pass smog I bring all my vehicles there for smog, good price

I'm really glad to have Cap city smog in my neighborhood. They run a tight ship. Walk in Star station in arcade Carmichael area. A lot of stations are stopping or being dropped from smog because they don't meet the programs strong and unnecessary rules. Those rules are stifling progress in the local car industry by having dealers and consumers hunt around for less and less star stations, which is clogging up the ones that are left. Hopefully cap city smog can keep up the good work they are doing for community. read more

Repairs were required. So I was able to fix it to get it to "pass" in the same day. Thank you for your help.

My usual smog check shop had disappeared so I had to find a new place. I relied on a recommendation from family and it turned out well. This was actually a lot nicer than my old place. Friendly, efficient, and helpful service. There was a very short wait, nice place to sit in large open air garage. I was dreading the wait and the whole process but it was all very easy! And only one person running the shop. Ps my 17 year old Subaru turbo passed :-) It is a little hard to find especially for the first time as it is in a strip mall without signage on the street. I drove past the first time. Note the picture for reference, the mall has large two story end caps. read more

Love this place. Definitely recommend. Very thourough and honest guys. I am never disappointed

Got in quickly without an appointment and the process was fast! Second time I've used Cap City Smog and both were good experiences.

Love this place! I've been coming here since 2016. Always friendly, professional and welcoming

This is my second time getting my car smogged here. Services is fast, friendly and so easy. Walked over to Flapjacks located in the same shopping center and enjoyed breakfast while car was getting smogged. By the time we were finished eating and walked back over my car was done and parked in their lot. The service is courteous and no nonsense-refreshing. Will be back and highly recommend if you need a smog. read more

Walked in for a smog and was done in 45 minutes! They are very fast and efficient. I will definitely be back for my future smogs needed.

Excellent service. They went an extra mile to help me with my smog after having been ping ponged to several places. Honest, friendly, and hardworking. There's no better place to go for your smog. read more

Great customer service! very straightforward and pretty quick. J very much appreciate that in addition to the smog test, they also checked for any recalls on my vehicle. An overall great value and I will happily return the next time I need a smog. read more

My first time at Cap City Smog - superb customer service! The staff was friendly, courteous and very professional. Service was fast and efficient. Will definitely be back and I highly recommend them for your smog needs. I left my gloves and umbrella on the counter, and an extra star (and huge thanks) for one of guys running outside (in the rain) to return them to me as I was getting ready to drive off. read more

Came in for a Smog check, they quoted me 30 minutes. No appointment was necessary. I decided it couldn't be done that quick so I went around the corner to get some pupusas and headed back an hour later. My car was ready for me! And probably had been for a bit. Some tips: in a small shopping center but you'll see their $41 smog check sign on the sidewalk! Pay in cash and it's $50 total, or be like me... and I never have cash so there was a $2 credit card fee. I'll be back when I have to do my next smog check! read more

I was trying to get my registration done and realized I needed to get a smog test done. I called several places and found that this place was the best. They got me in within an hour of my call and I was in and out in 10 minutes. They were really friendly and efficient. read more

These guys don't know what they're doing. Everything passed on my car except for the exhaust smoke. Took the car somewhere else not even an hour later and it passed. They do not know the difference between water vapor and smoke. Would not trust these guys to give a good assessment of your car. read more

Fast easy Smog service. Used a Groupon. Will return in 2 years for next smog test. Good value.

My family has been doing business with cap city for years and have no intention on stopping. Of all the times I've done business with Vic and the guys I've never once had an issue or seen/hear another person have an issue. Go see Vic he'll take care of you. Please clear and verify your monitors have all reset just to not waste time. I'll admit I've forgotten a time or two. I felt bad but victor did not make a big deal about it he just reassured me of what I need to do and told me to return when everything was ready to pass the test. The entire staff is comprised of good people I only take my cars here and there's at least 3 smog shops closer to me. If u have been to cap city and remember the small build with little parking it's gone they are in a new spot and it's nice and easily accessible. Thanks for reading Tellem Jesse sent you. read more

Quick to get in during lunch. Team was polite and professional! Definitely will return again!

Took my vehicle in to get a smog test. They failed me for a failed catalytic converter. They said it didn't match my aftermarket headers. Went to another smog place which is more professional in my opinion, but passed the smog test. Apparently this place didn't even bother to ask about the headers they just failed me. I have paperwork for the aftermarket headers and that was enough to pass the test, and my catalytic converter was functional. I only gave them two stars because I found I Groupon thing for them but I wasted my money and time. Find another spot if you want professional advice and service. read more

I said ok no going to argue over 10 bucks not worth the me getting angry and ending up with a charge !! I will not ever go back I rather spend good money at a good place with people who have good morales and honor !!! Also the cards read 31.95 plus 8.95 for that smog certificate and and about 100 cards on counter that said the same thing ?? Also my car did not go on the dyno simple smog just plug it and check monitors gas cap etc etc read more

I have received top service from this business four all four of my vehicles. Reliable and efficient business! I would recommend them to anyone. read more

I was in an out of this place in like 10 min at 2:15pm on a Saturday--from parking to paying. I was the only customer at the time. Some things to keep in mind that I noticed posted around the shop: -4% discount offered if you pay cash -Cars 1999 our older are not smogged after 4 pm -Cars 2000 or newer have a "no pass, no pay" policy read more

I looked around and saw they had a $10 coupon and a "no pass no pay" policy, plus good reviews, so I thought I'd give them a try. I was overdue in getting my smog because my vehicle wasn't running, and I was a little worried, but I needn't have been. I walked in, handed them the keys, and was done and on my way in about 10 minutes. I was impressed, so I brought my other vehicle in which I was selling (pre-selling smog is required in CA), and went through the same routine. 2 vehicles, $20 bucks off, done in under an hour - including drive time! Whoohooo! Thanks guys! read more

Wow! This place is amazing. I came in with a Groupon over lunch time. I'm and out in less than 20 mins. Even warned me up front there was a small fee to pay to DMV. Fast, professional, friendly. So I brought my car here a couple times but the first time I had a check engine light on and they did a diagnostic test and so we got it fixed and came back, but I guess if the battery has been taken off you have to drive it at a certain speed for like 50 miles. So I came back again and it passed with flying colors. Every time I came the guy was very friendly and helpful. I would recommend these guys to everyone. read more

Cheap and friendly! I've been here twice and both times the people have been friendly and fast. Plus, with the coupon from their website, a regular smog + cert is about $40 -- much cheaper than other places I checked! They are sort of tucked away off the street on Fulton across from Kuni's dealership at El Camino so you might not see them right off the bat, but it's worth it to find them! read more
