They serve up Southern staples with a distinct home style cooking that makes you warm and fuzzy like good soul food should do. They do pop-ups on multiple occasions at my work place, and this time I wanted to really try out their Cajun tilapia. The fish is to die for - flaky and perfectly seared with a generous seasoning of Cajun spices, enough to impart a ton of flavor, without being hot or overpowering. Tender and moist to the last bite! I also sampled their mac n' cheese (wonderfully cheesy without being runny or too thick), and their collard greens were one of the best renditions I've tried (don't think this is done with ham hocks, but definitely some kind of pork is infused into it). The cornbread was a let down, as it was a tad dry and over baked on the outside. Finished the meal off with a generous slice of their banana pudding, which I highly recommend. Lots of textural elements imparted with the addition of some kind of plain cookie topped with layers of pudding and frosting.

I'm all about supporting local, small businesses, so I'm happy to give this one a high rating!…read more I was visiting the Perot for Thursdays on Tap, and Smokey Ray's BBQ was one of the food trucks out front. Being a Memphis native, I had to see what this was all about! The menu is pretty simple, easy to understand and make your choice! I went with the meat plate with chopped brisket and sides of twice baked potato and beans. It also came with two slices of bread. This is a sizeable portion - it could definitely be a meal for two! Service was friendly and fast! It took about 5 minutes to get my order. My friend got the loaded baked potato with brisket, which also looked really good! As soon as I opened my takeout box, I smelled that good BBQ! Flavorful, sweet BBQ sauce reminded me of Memphis BBQ, which I'm quite a fan of! Brisket was chopped finely, great texture that melted in my mouth. The sides were good too! I think the potato was a little on the salty side, but I loved the cheese and bacon pieces that were mixed with it! The bread went really well with the brisket! I'm glad to have had the opportunity to try out their BBQ! If I see them around again, I'll be sure to try something else from their menu!

At first I thought it was only for whole sale/manufacturing and catering. I was right and wrong. They do offer these services but they also have grab and go items. I was greeted promptly with very friendly service as their shop was explained. I was given great recommendations and given tips on how to cook the items. They had hors d' oeuvres, dips and spreads, salads, fresh frozen entrees, fresh entrees and dinner sides. I ended up picking up brisket and twice baked potatoes. The dessert that stood out was their extensive variety of ready to bake cookie dough balls such as red velvet and Dubai chocolate. I also had my eye on the mini key lime mini cheesecakes. This women's owned business was evident in their unique offering of the cookie dough called Milkookie Dough that was especially crafted for the new lactating mamas. How sweet is that! Love this :) Women helping women. Not only do they offer full service catering they also provide drop off catering. Many entrees available in half pan options or full pan. Some stand outs were lemon artichoke chicken and brown sugar green beans with bacon. I will be back for sure to get high quality entrees that are ready to go. I highly recommend stopping in to one of their three food shops. One is in Richardson on Campbell Rd. and two in Dallas on Rosedale Ave. and Preston Rd. You can also find their cookie dough in Central Market, Jimmy's Food Store and Cox Farms Market.

I ended up k Their carnitas are some of the best Ive had. Crispy outside, juicy, tender, and full of pork flavor. Their carne asada is delicious, especially since they use ribeye. The beef itself is full of flavor. Their barbacoa is a great blend of moisture and structure. The pastor is legit, especially with the strip of pineapple in each taco. Probably the only improvement I could see is if it had more of a char. Even the chicken in the flautas was delicious. The flautas themselves were crispy crunchy, loaded with corn oil. The crema and veggies on top felt so fresh digging into them. I especially loved topping this with salsa verde. Their pina aqua is quite delicious. It had a bold, pineapple taste with the right amount of sugar. Im quite excited that this place exists so close to my home.
