The food at Noohn is always terrific, but the service has gotten worse and worse over the last few years. My most recent visit - which will definitely be my last - the place was 75% empty and there were multiple waiting staff on hand with very few customers to look after. Despite this, I had to request the wine list, which was finally given to us about 5 minutes later when we ordered our food. I then had to flag the waiter down 15 minutes later to take our wine order, which arrived after our food. We finished our meal and waited for about 25 minutes before anyone arrived to clear our plates and offer us dessert. By this point we were so frustrated and had basically lost our appetite so we declined dessert and asked for the bill. So the overall experience was not defined by the food, which is very good if a little pricey, but by the truly abysmal service. Food was OK but wine list was really good. Very reasonably priced wine and selections were great. Sushi/maki roll has tons of rice so that's something I didn't like but fish itself is good. Drink comes with complimentary wasabi nuts. Great place to hang out or having Apéro. read more

Came here on a Saturday night around 8 pm and it was fairly empty. For the size of this place I was surprised to see only about 8 tables in use (there's easily three times as many tables not including the bar). Service was quick due to the small amount of patrons and the kitchen staff looked bored. You can easily look into the kitchen and prep area from the tables. As I was looking through the menu, the waiter recommend the sushi options as opposed to the cooked Asian fusion dishes. I ordered the duck bao as an appetiser and a traditional tuna poke bowl on brown rice with a glass of still water. Food arrived quickly and was presented very well. Duck was deep fried and came with a very sweet sauce. The bao appeared to be a single steamed bun cut into four pieces to match the four pieces of duck. Overall, very tasty although too sweet for my liking and the buns too small to hold the duck. It would hold up better if they made individual buns instead of slicing a single large bun. Poke bowl came out next and had large cuts of mango, generous amounts of tuna, seaweed salad, avocado, and some sliced ginger. The bowl they serve the poke in, made it difficult to get to the rice at the bottom without first making a hole up top by eating through all the other ingredients. Be sure to not use the soy sauce they provide because this dish was a bit salty. Overall, great ambiance, upscale atmosphere and presentation, fresh seafood and good service. A bit pricey compared to similar types of sushi restaurants in the area but the service and atmosphere make up for it. I love going to Noohn everytime I don't feel like cooking at home. I always order the Fleisch Menu is 19CHF, is cheap for the Basel standard prices and the amount of food is really fullfilling. The atmosphere for happy hours is great, I like the Zen decor. The upper deck bar is great for hanging out in the Summer. Personnally I don't like the rotating sushi bar, the sushi's are not great. Also I don't like the A la Carte Menu, is very overpriced. I recommend the Selbst Bedienung "Self Service" area, no waiter or waitress will bother you. read more

Superb food. Pricey but very good n good portions. I had the Sea Bass and it was very fresh. My friends sushi combos were awesome.

I ate here for the first time last week, and was very disappointed by the food but more by the service. The food was asian, and nothing special, but much more expensive than Noosch or Lily's which both serve a similar fayre, but for less cash. The service was just appauling, and for that reason I will not be back. The bar is very popular and trendy, so worth a visit for drinks if not for dinner. read more

Giving it a 5 as this is the best food I've had in Basel! The seabass was pretty awesome and def the fish to try, thiugh 50 chf isn't cheap (but nothing in Switzerland is). Possibly more of a 4 star in the states but will upgrade it here read more

This is a delightful surprise, on many levels. The restaurant's front hides a magnificent and beautiful interior space: large, interesting, elegant, and spare. It offers quite a variety of dishes, including vegan options for those so inclined. The food is delicious. The service was attentive without being obtrusive. One gentle criticism is that because of the many hard surfaces, the acoustics can be a bit of a challenge. So perhaps not the place to go for a business dinner in which you're going to discuss things that are proprietary. All in all, however, quite the find. read more
