Turns out Sydney Australia turns in rather early. Back home in Boston, if you are looking for a late night meal, Chinatown is a good place to hit. We had just arrived in Sydney on a night time flight and were looking for a bite before hitting the sack, but as we drove around Chinatown in Sydney shortly after 10pm, darkened storefronts greeted us. One establishment in fact shut its lights just as we were about to park.
Noodle Pot was still open, however, with a singleton diner settled at one of their tables enjoying his dinner. So in we went. It was a simple and casual spot with a counter where you order to the left and two lines of tables with seating to the right.
We weren't super hungry, so we shared a few dishes:
Stir Fried Rice with Braised Beef Brisket and Egg $15.80
Shanghai Style Wonton Soup with Pork and Shepherd's Purse $11.80
Braised Beef Brisket in noodle soup $12.80
Duck Leg in noodle soup
I found the fried rice the most satisfying of our spread.
They allowed us the option to pay immediately or after our meal.
Australia pays a liveable wage, so my local friend tipped me off that tips at your basic establishments aren't necessary. But if you go somewhere fancy and they give you terrific service, 10% gratuity would be sufficient. read more
