I can recommend the chicken Katsu California Rolls and the Teriyaki Beef rolls. The only downside is that I am not keen on the way they do their Soy Sauce in foil packets, I found them difficult to open. I haven't eaten in the restaurant so cannot really comment on that side of the business, but it looks pretty dark back there.

I went…read morewith some friends to use a group buying voucher for unlimited sushi and a hot main course each. The sushi was very heavy on rice and light on everything else - I guess when you're offer all-you-can-eat you want to make it as cheap and unappealing as possible. Worse, the ingredients were dry and had almost certainly been sitting around in the fridge for too long. In fact, many of them were not every very presentable, smooshed by previous diners or careless staff. Also, be careful if they run this deal again - you need to eat all the sushi you take or you'll be charged $1 per wasted piece. I think this is fair enough to avoid wastage, but it's worth keeping in mind. The service was attentive, but not particularly friendly. The main courses were better, but nothing amazing. I'd try other yakitori offerings before returning to Tomo.

The Pork, Prawn and Chive dumplings are so full of flavour - packed with chives and no fatty bits in sight. The dumpling pastry is a little thick but its so tasty I don't care. I've now cottoned to the fact that you can get the hot and sour soup without the sour - it's got baby bok-choy through it and is a really balanced broth. - there is a range of noodle soups with braised meats that also look delectable!

The selections of dumplings they sell all seem very good that you will have to go back for more than once to try.~ :P The restaurant gets fully booked quite easily as it seems to be popular with the locals so it is recommended to go and take a seat early before the dinner rush starts. Their other selections of food are good as well but I recommend just getting the dumplings because it is their specialty. The price is very good as they serve a lot of dumplings and for a dollar extra, you can have it steamed or fried. Delicious~ Carpark is a bit tricky so once again, recommend on getting there early to avoid the dinner rush and traffic rush :)

Being a Balmoral local, I'm spoiled for choice when it comes to dumplings. Unfortunately for me I…read moream a fussy tart; particularly so when it comes to meat, and even more so Asian food with meat. So sadly for me it's always vegetarian dumplings and therefore one dumpling is often not so different from another. I have to say I do prefer New Flavour; mainly because the food is fresher and the place is cleaner. That's not to say Barilla are not better than they were but for me they are still second choice. One of my Sichuan favourites is Green Beans with Chilli and Barilla's version taste like the oil is dirty. I don't know how else to describe it but there is a generally "old" grease flavour to many of the menu items. Having said that, in the Balmoral strip coming second is really not so bad. This part of town does it thing well even if ultimately the influx of Westerners is neither here nor there for the business owners. I've lived here for over 15 years and as far as I can tell, popularity with the locals is of no concern to the bulk of these businesses. I will be back to Barilla Dumpling but probably on a night when the queue at New Flavour is dauntingly long.

Whilst Musashi looks pretty inconspicuous from outside, inside it absolutely hums. The decor is pretty nondescript, black walls with wooden features and giant sake bottles sitting on shelves but the food, well, that is another story. Being in a rather indecisive mood, I decided to go for the chicken teriyaki bento box. It was delicious. The miso had a load of flavour and was clearly not of the packet variety, the edamame beans were perfectly salted, the salad of finely cut cabbage and japanese mayo was crunchy and fresh but the real star of the dish was most definitely the chicken. It was cooked to perfection and was unbelievably tender plus the teriyaki marinade was one of the best ever had. My only teensy tiny complaint was that serving size seemed small given the price. Regardless, that food was that good I will definitely be going back. ASAP.

Having lived for a long time in China I felt up to the task, but was not sure how a restaurant with a somewhat corny name would perform. On arrival I was put at ease by the exclusively Chinese clientele and the Mandarin-speaking young staff, who didn't bat an eye at my speaking with them in Chinese. Though there was no seating available in the main dining room, seats were available upstairs so we sent up there. Decor-wise, the place is a bit lacking, but in a way that adds to the atmosphere. The menu is the attraction anyway, and it is extensive. Since the chef is a member of China's Muslim minority Hui nationality, there is no pork on the menu, but there is lamb aplenty. And being a northern-style restaurant there are loads of wheat-based dishes (noodles and dumplings) rather than rice. Our order consisted of the following: an order of pan-fried lamb-fennel dumplings （羊肉茴香锅贴）; cleaver-sliced noodles with beef (刀削牛肉面)）; eggplant with garlic sauce (鱼香茄子）; peanuts in vinegar (醋泡花生）; and one each of the lamb and beef Chinese "burgers" (肉夹馍）. We had hoped to order lamb kebabs as well, but they were out (and while I'd have loved to have had the chicken gizzard kebab, my friends insisted on no offal, and there is a minimum of five kebabs per order). The only slight disappointment was the beef "burger", since the meat was a bit dry, and the vinegar peanuts were not as punchy as I like, but the other dishes were spot-on. And the prices are very reasonable so you can afford to try new things without a budgetary concern.
